OHM
"Fluke, this is Ohm." P' New said as I sat down on a couch opposite to where Fluke was lying a while ago.
"Silly, Newie!" Fluke said with a chuckle. "Of course, I know him."
"You know me?" I shyly asked.
"Of course! You're my Carl in the movie. How would I not know you?" He said.
My Carl.
My Carl.
My Carl.
He called me his Carl.
Okay.
I knew he said that because I was the one acting for the character he made. I knew I was overreacting, but that made me really happy. The fact that he knew who I was was enough, but calling me his had a different effect on me.
P' New was looking at me and I knew he was reading what was on my mind right now.
"Wow!"
That was all I said. How would you even react on that? I wouldn't have the courage to tell Fluke that his statement did wonders to my fast beating heart.
"Ohm gave me a ride back here, so I invited him to have dinner with us." I heard P' New explained.
I was still looking at Fluke as he was caressing the little boy's back as he was still sleeping in his arms.
"Oh! That was great! Fluke cooked a lot 'cause he said that home-cooked meal would be a great treat for a tiring work day. He cooked my husband's favorites. I hope you're both hungry." Liza said.
"We are! And even if we're not, we will still eat everything that you cooked, Fluke. Right, Ohm?" P' New said with a wiggling eyebrows.
"Of course!" I said shyly.
"You know, he live alone in his condo, and he would probably just eat instant noodles when he get back, so better eat what Fluke made for us."

"Oh?" I heard Fluke say in surprised. "That's not good for your health. Instant food is a no-no, especially for people working long hours." He explained in a concerned voice.
"Thank you for the concern. But there's no one who would cook for me. And since I always stay outside for work, I didn't even try to learn how to cook."
"Even a single fried egg?" He asked in surprised and I nodded.
"I almost burned the whole condo when I tried once, so I did not repeat it since then."
Everyone laughed at what I said that made the little boy woke up.
"Oops! Someone's up!" Fluke gave his attention to the boy. "Hi, there, sweetie!" He kissed the boys head and smiled. "Are you hungry?"
"Yeth!" The boy said almost inaudibly.
"Aww. Noah. Mommy's here. Come!" Liza said as she tried to get the boy from Fluke, but he didn't want to let go of Fluke. "Fluke, you're taking away my babies one by one. First, it was Lara, now it's my Noah." Liza complained.
Fluke giggled , "What can I do? They find me more adorable and cuter than you."
"Yes, you are!" I said loudly without a thought.
All of them looked at me. Liza and New were smiling from ear to ear, while Fluke was in disbelief, a shade of pink on his cheeks was starting to become more visible. He looked away and turned his attention to Noah to hide his face.
"Uhm. . . Yes. . . I mean. . . Maybe the kids find him adorable and cute. . . Yeah. . . That one. . ."
Liza and P' New exchanged glances and both smiled widely.
"Yeah! You know, no one could resist Fluke's charm. A lot of guys. . ." P' New said looking at me, "adore him. . . even our little Noah."

Fluke looked up and glared at P' New, "What are you talking about, Newie?"
"Nothing! Forget what I said. Maybe I'm just so hungry that I'm talking non-sense?"
Fluke just shook his head and stood up with Noah and his sister. "Let's go, babies! We're going to eat!" He said and walked out of the room leaving us.
"So, Ohm?" Liza turned to me and said, "It's true that you're in love with our best friend, huh?"
She mentioned a while ago that she knew everything, so I guessed P' New told her about that.
"Honey, you don't need to ask him about that. Isn't it too obvious? He couldn't even take his eyes on our Fluke. And he was not able to stop himself in agreeing that Fluke was adorable and cute."
"But, I just want to make sure and I want to hear it from him. We're talking about Fluke here. You know that he's our first baby. I want to know if this person would be the right one for him."
"Honey, Ohm is a good person. I've worked with him a few times and I know that he's a good man. He came from a good family, too."
Both husband and wife were talking continuously as if I was not even there.
"So? The bastard who hurt my baby also came from a good family!" Liza said and raised an eyebrow as if proving a point. Then she looked at me, no. . . she glared at me.
"Yes, P' Liza. I am in love with Fluke. I assure you that my intentions are good. My family will disown me if I do something bad to Fluke. They've already met Fluke a few times, they are his fans. My mom even told me that she wanted Fluke to be part of our family. Will that convince you that I won't hurt Fluke, and I want to have a future with him?"
These two in front of me were the most important people in Fluke's life, so better confess to them now and prove myself to them.
P' Liza didn't say anything, but just nodded. She looked at her husband, then back to me and said, "I'm still here to watch you. Remember that!"
"Yes, Phi." I said. Then I remembered what she said a while ago. "Uhm. . . Phi? About what you said. . . the. . . bastard that hurt Fluke. . ." I asked. I didn't know that I was already a bit angry when I let out those last words.
"About that. . ." P' Liza started. "He was. . ."
Then the door suddenly opened and Fluke came into the view.
"I thought you were hungry. What's taking you so long?" He said. "I need help setting up the table."
Liza stood up and walked near me, "We'll talk about that next time. . . when he's not around." she whispered and headed to the door. "Let's go!" She said and put her arms around Fluke's as they went to the kitchen.
"Come on, Loverboy!" P' New said. "We're not going to let your wait, are we?"
I shyly smiled and stood up. "Uh. . . Phi?" He looked back to me, "Thank you again. . . for this."
He just smiled and pat my shoulder.

Faeos Book One: The Stuff of Legends
A ragtag assemblage of adventurers, scraped together by seeming circumstance, investigate the theft of an ecologically essential artifact. In so doing, they find themselves embroiled (as adventurers so often do) in the larger machinations of a mischevious gnome, a determined mage or three, and a dire threat to their homes. Based on a homebrew Pathfinder campaign begun several years ago, and still running. Faeos is one part combat, one part character building, and one part entirely justified silliness. Blame any lead character weirdnesses on my players, whom I love. Blame everything else on me. Oh, and yes, this should also be tagged "Unreliable Narrator."
