《Lethologica (an wdy au!)》Final: Lets live to see another day.

I woke up in this...
Tube, my body ached and I felt like I'd been passed out for decades. I even smelt bad as well.
I looked around and noticed the place looked like...Some lab...There was these bottles around and different types of telescopes. Even some test tubes.
I noticed there was a gas mask on me, so I took it off and threw it at the tube that was holding me hostage.
I hopped out, avoiding the glass shards in the process. I looked over to my side to see Henry.
"Hey, what's going on?" I attempted to ask, running up to him.
"Like I'd have a clue."
I looked over to his side and saw Jonathan and Mike in a similar test tube. I grabbed my mask that I threw and threw it at the test tube Jonathan was in then at Mike.
I then went up and tried to wake Jonathan up.
"Hey, wake up!" I yelled, slapping Jonathan.
Jonathan quickly jumped, and fell on his back.
"Sorry." I apologised.
"It's..Ow- okay."
I then did the same thing with Mike.
"...Five more minutes please." Mike groaned.
"No, you need to get up now."
"Fine." Mike then woke up.
"Where even are-"
Suddenly, an alarm went off, interrupting Jonathan's sentence.
"Shit! Sorry guys I accidentally touched this book that was in this jar." Henry said, putting down the book.
"You just had to touch it didn't you?" I grunted.
"It looked interesting okay?!"
Suddenly, as if the alarm wasn't enough, a bunch of zombies came running in at us.
"Shit! Everyone grab someone that could be used to murder someone." Jonathan ordered.
We decided to use the miniature test tubes that were on the table because that was the only thing that could be a weapon.

There was a lot of blood lost during the fight, not from us though. But from those zombies, or well. I personally think they look like zombies, they have the characteristic of one and they look like one.
Anyways, we finished off all the zombies.
"Quick! L-let's skid-addle before more come in!" Mike quavered.
"Yeah, good idea." Jonathan agreed.
There wasn't much to the place, it just looked like your average science lab. Blue walls, concrete ground. Information about certain bacterias. The usual.
Although, I didn't see Kyle or Sam at all in the room, nor anywhere. I wonder where they were?
The four of us walked into this room only for the door to shut on us.
Then, a hologram of Todd came up, he was wearing this fancy black suit with, well, his outfit just looked fancy, let's leave it at that.
"Greetings employees, I'm assuming you managed to make it this far to get here...Or I'm talking to a bunch of zombies, but anyways, we were trying to run a experiment on you guys to see what happens if we try to bring back the dead...Or well, the lab was, not us. And that sort of...Backfired on us, so now we're dealing with an apocalypse. So...You can stay in here if you want, but, I'm not sure what the state of the lab is during the time you get this message, oh yeah, and don't bother trying to find me. By the time you get this message, I'll most certainly be dead. Anyways, good luck."
He then disappeared.
"Dang, you'd think they'd be able to contain all of them..." Henry commented.
"Well, we don't know how many scientists were in here, so it probably would of been hard to keep track." I explained.

"Fair."
"Hey, I think we should focus on getting out of here." Jonathan reminded us.
"Yeah, let's go." I agreed.
"Wait, isn't that door locked?" Henry asked.
"No, it's unlocked." Mike answered, opening the door.
The four of us looked around for a while, looking for an way to get out here.
We found water, food, and the basic things you'd need in a apocalypses before arriving to the exit.
"Hey, what colour do you reckon the sky is?" Mike asked.
"I reckon it's yellow." Jonathan answered.
"Blue." I replied.
"Yeah, I'm assuming this isn't a dream or anything, so I'm just going to say blue."
"Well, I guess we'll find out together."
Mike pressed a button that opened the door, since, the door had a automatic door blocking the exit.
"You guys ready for the real world?" I asked.
"Hell yes, I'm specially ready for the sunlight." Jonathan answered proudly.
"Wooo! Sunlight!" Mike cheered.
"Woooo, sunburns." Henry said with sarcasm.
The door was almost opened, and a light engraved us...
The sunlight then hit us like a deer staring at an headlight.
"Wow..." We all stood there amazed by what happened while we were all...
Sleeping? Yeah I'm just going to assume that was some dream.
"Everything looks horrible here." Henry noted.
"Yeah, that's probably because half of the population is dead." I remarked.
"Forget this, I'd rather die then deal with all of this." Henry said, turning around.
"Hey! Don't be like that, I'm sure there are many things you haven't discovered yet." Mike comforted.
"Yeah like what? A new type of zombie that can kill us?"
"No, the ocean! Last I checked there wasn't much known about the deep part of it."
"Yeah...You have a point."
"Exactly, so, let's live to see a another day."
"I'm still not convinced."
"You could get to outlive me." I said.
"Okay, I change my mind! Let's live to see another day!" Henry said with pride.
God knows what awaits us here, but I swear to god if a coffee machine isn't here I'm going to lose it

And that concludes this story! I hope you guys enjoyed the story...I'm actually working on another version of this story (particularly, one in Jonathan's perspective to give more context, cause dear god it feels like there's alot of plot holes in this story.)
(Update: extremely unmotivated to write Jonathan's version so it may not come out.)

Cutting to Life: an NPC LitRPG (Battle Royale)
Nikola is an NPC in The World of Wills, a video game where players can feel sensations as if they were truly there. She leads a life of bloodshed and murder - that is, until one day she wakes up sapient. Just as she begins thinking real, non-scripted thoughts and making connections, she and the players in the game are told that if they die in the game, they die in real life - and it's time to get killing. But what of Nikola, the emerging AI consciousness? How does she win in a game that can only end in her being wiped from existence at the end of it all? - Updates Mondays and Fridays. Cutting to Life is a slow-burn LitRPG with a villainous (later anti-hero, or maybe still villainous, haha) female lead. It's told from the perspective of Nikola, an NPC within the World of Wills who's become sapient and is now mysteriously able to play the game as a PC. It's quite light for a LitRPG, but the system and stats become more of a focus later when Nikola herself can access them. The story gradually builds into a Battle Royale where the players' lives are on the line (if you die in the game, you die in real life), and only one party of savvy adventurers can win. They'll have to spend their time and stats wisely as dungeons promising rare gear float down from the sky - but is a legendary sword worth killing someone for, knowing they'll stay dead forever? - This story is told in third person, past tense.- This is a slow-burn LitRPG that spends a lot of time establishing its setting and characters, because I believe this will make for a better payoff in the end. As such, the Battle Royale doesn't start until chapter 30 or so.- Chapters are anywhere between 800 words and 3000 words long.- Book cover by Vixeona.Cutting to Life is also being posted on SPB and Scribble Hub.Thank you sincerely for reading.
