Elissa pov*

The café is so crowded today and I couldn't even take a little break it's always like that when you have a sunny day. And the weather is just exceptional today. It's already 3pm and my body really need food and rest. I made my way to the resting area not before taking a salmon sandwich, a soda and chocolate muffin.

I was checking my phone when Jeff called; I swallowed my bite of sandwich before pick up

"Hey Jeff what's up?"

"Hello Eli" His voice was soft but I detected an ounce of worry

"Everything is ok Jeff?"

"Actually I am in the hospital right now"

"Why what happened"

"It's Hailey..."

"What Hailey what happened to her?" I yelled

"Calm down Eli she is good now don't worry"

"But tell me what happened to her?"

"She fell and injured her head"

"I will come to see her in which hospital you are?"

After hung up; I walked to my boss and asked if I can quit earlier. Fortunately he agreed because he knows that I won't ask for it if it was not serious. I changed my uniform quickly before running outside.

The cab park in front of the hospital I walked in when I remembered that maybe a certain someone of her family would be there and I don't want to see him so I decided to call Jeff before.

"Jeff I am here but tell me is there someone with you in the room?" I asked embarrassed

"No we are alone... Adrian.... huuum he was here but he leave 20 minutes ago so don't worry you are not going to cross him"

"Ok ...in which room you are?"

"Room 425 fourth floor"

"Thanks I will be there quickly"

I went to the elevator and looked for the room it's a huge hospital so after some minutes I found the right room. I knocked and opened the door slightly and take a look before entering.

Hailey saw me and smiled widely

"Eli come in"

I walked to her and Jeff who was sitting near her bed

"Hailey how are you oh my God I was so worried?" I asked

"I am better now"

"Are you in pain tell me" I said looking at the bandage wrapped around his head

"Not anymore I think the painkiller made their affect now" She said lightly

"How this happened?"

"I fell off the stepladder" She replied

"And what did you do in a stepladder for God sake?!"

"I wanted to catch a box at the top of my closet when I have lost my balance and the last thing I remember I screamed before my head hits the ground" She shrugged her shoulders

"Oh my God Hailey" I said putting my hand on my mouth

"She is so clumsy luckily I was there" Jeff said, Hailey just rolled her eyes

"He is right honey what would happen if he was not with you"

"Whatever... How is my cute nephew I miss him so much?"

"He is good"

"When do you have to pick him from the daycare?"

"At six"

"Great so you will stay with us till then" She asked happily if someone saw her won't tell she is injured just this morning

"Of course I will"

"Your parents are aware of your accident" I said again

"Yes Jeff call them but they are not in town they will come to visit only this evening after their return but I spoke with them"

"They must be so worried especially your mom"

"Yeah I know I didn't want to tell them but what I can do I have a talkative fiancé" She said looking at Jeff. We just laughed

We stayed like this talking about their wedding and other stuff. Jeff brought us coffee and some snacks. We are enjoying our time when we heard a knock and right after someone opened the door. We all looked to it and my smile faded instantly. The person I wanted to avoid the most was here but not alone.

I stood up and unwittingly my eyes were moving from their faces to their intertwined hands. I was completely shocked so for some minutes I couldn't move. I can tell Adrian was shocked as well but masked it really fast. Of course I knew they are engaged. I heard the news through the newspaper but see them face to face is another story. It's like my heart broke in a million pieces again and again.

I gulped hard and detach my eyes from them and looked at Hailey who was staring at me waiting for my reaction. Nobody spoke; everyone was obviously scared and embarrassed by the situation. I finally collected myself and grabbed my bag to leave without a word. I reached the door but Tanya couldn't close her mouth

"Hello Elissa I didn't expect to see you here" She said with contempt.

I faced them Tanya had a smirk on her face still holding Adrian's hand and Adrian just kept his look on the wall so I looked at Hailey not knowing what to say.

"She is my friend no she is my sister so it's normal for her to be here" Hailey replied dryly and straight to Tanya's eyes

"Huum of course" Tanya said her eyes moving from my head to toe

I just smiled at Hailey and said

"See you later Hailey till then take care" and went out from the room or escaped would be the right word

I walked as fast as I can but I felt a hand on my arms when I turned around it was Jeff staring at me with concern. I released a breath, took my face in my hands and said

"You scared me Jeff"

"I am sorry Eli you shouldn't have gone through this.... "

"It's ok Jeff" I said lowering my head

Jeff put his finger under my chin and made me looking at him. I diverted my eyes not wanting him to see my tears.

"Hey Elissa look at me... please look at me" I just shake my head unable to speak

"Listen to me Eli" He said cupping my face

"You have every right to feel this way ok? Nobody expect from you to be always strong, to don't show your weakness. You have the right to let your guard down and express your feelings as well. Nobody will judge you ok? Nobody has the right to tell something about this. You have endured a lot and you suffer until now" He made a break so I spoke

"Why it still hurts so much to see him Jeff?" I hiccuped

"He was able to move on and me I...I am here not even able to look at him"

"Yes I know Eli I know... We all know what you have been through and let me tell you we are proud of you, the way you handle your life without any help, the way you raise your son you are an amazing and strong woman don't doubt this so it's fine if you sometimes let your walls down and externalize everything you keep inside you"

I was a mess when he finished his words.

"It's ok let it all go, it's ok" He said while hugging me and caressing my head.

I didn't know for how much time we stayed like this but after I felt better so I backed away and wiped my tears.

"Thank you Jeff" I said and my eyes widened when I saw his wet shirt because of my tears

"Oh I am sorry" I added pointing to his shirt

"It's nothing cupcake. Do you feel better?"

I nodded

"Well that's the most important thing; I don't care about my shirt"

I smiled to him, he really is a good man and Hailey is lucky to have him.

"You have to go now Hailey is probably waiting for you"

"Yeah I should before something bad happened there, I can't trust Hailey with them" He joked

"Yes go ahead and thank you again" He kissed my forehead and went back.

I made my way to the exit with a light heart and a new resolution.

I will move on and live for myself for once.
