《forbidden》Chapter 3

No!! The last condition was not acceptable to me.
I can't do that.
" What?? Is it some kind of a joke?? " I asked. Everyone looked shocked.
" No, Mr Shah, I can assure you none of the conditions is any kind of joke. These conditions were given by your grandfather and you would have to fulfil each one of them. " The lawyer said calmly.
" But how can I agree to all this?? Especially the last one?? I don't even have any experience with that... I don't know anything about it. No!! The last one is out of the question. Please get it changed. " I said firmly.
F
" Hey, what happened?? " Dad asked.
" I can understand that you are upset to see the conditions but I can't add or remove any clause of this. Only your grandfather could do it but unfortunately, we can't persuade him to change it now, until we find a time machine, which is practically not possible. " The lawyer said.
I was very annoyed with the way he was trying to be sarcastic.
" But why do I have to do it?? This is insane... I don't even have experience. " I argued.
" What happened?? " Mihir asked. But I was too annoyed to answer so I gave the sheet to him.
" Sorry!! I can't accept the last condition. " I said shaking my head.
" You have no choice, Mr Shah. Trust me it is not as difficult as it seems. " The lawyer said.
" Is anyone going to tell us what is going on?? " Chachu asked.
Mihir read out all the conditions that were to be followed by me.
The last one came as a shock to everyone.
" He has to be a guardian to a girl child till she completes her education and gets a job and he has to get her married to a well-settled man. " Mihir told everyone.
" What?? Being guardian to a child?" Dad asked. The lawyer nodded.
" Whose child?? Where does this child come into the picture? " Chachu asked.
" This is bull shit!! Not fair!! He has to do a lot to gain his share in the property. I was feeling bad for myself that I have to start working right away... But bhai has to go through a lot! He has to shift here, leaving his all social life. Learn everything about diamonds from the scratch. Work and learn here like a worker, get married within a year and this child... That is the last straw... " Mihir said.

" I might manage other things but marriage within one year is too much... And being a guardian to a child is out of the question. I reject the conditions. " I said.
" Calm down! Manik. You are accepting it. It is your share of the property... How can you leave it like this?? It all will go to a trust. " Chachu said.
" But how will I manage a child? A girl child? No!! He should have given this task to mom or Chachi. They could easily take care of a child as they have reared all of us. But me?? A guardian to a girl child? Seriously? I am not even married..." I argued.
" It's ok, we all will help you in managing the child. She can stay with us." Chachi said.
" Sorry Mrs Shah, you can just help occasionally. You can't take over his responsibility. " The lawyer poked his nose again.
" Whose child it is?? And why does Manik has to take care of her? " Dad asked.
" Senior Mr Shah had been appointed the child's guardian after the sudden demise of her parents. He has been paying for her upbringing and education since then. Mr Shah left the instructions that She should get the best of everything as she is the daughter of one of his most trusted and talented craftsman. So till, Mr Manik Shah, gets her married to a decent and well-settled man, she is his responsibility. " He explained.
" But for god's sake, she is a girl. How can an unmarried man take care of a girl child?? I have no idea how to take care of a girl child. " I said looking at the lawyer but he just shrugged and smiled as politely as he should.
But I swear, I was so annoyed with the cool manner that I wanted to beat him.
" It's ok, he will do it! We will make sure he accepts all the conditions. " Dad said.
" Does the girl speak English or Hindi... Because I can't speak Gujarati fluently... Just know a few phrases. How would I converse with her? I am in a hot soup. " I said.

" Don't worry, I know Gujarati... I would talk to her if needed. But you accept the conditions. We will help you in taking care of the child, don't worry." Chachi said.
I nodded. We all signed the will and then the lawyer left.
" What the hell?? Why do we have to follow all those conditions? This is our property, we are not signing a deal... Right? " Mihir said.
" Calm down, Mihir! You know that you have to follow it. It was our dad's property, so he can choose how to distribute it. You need to follow the instructions. " Chachu replied.
" But Dad, what about his social life?? And why does he have to learn everything about diamonds from mining to designing? Don't you think this is too much? Does he have to work here like s worker? "
" The best way to learn anything is to learn it from scratch. We are in this business and we must know every single detail about it. We should be perfect in knowledge and experience to cater to our business. I learnt it too, so being an heir, he should also do it if he wants to be the head of the business. " Dad said.
" But dad if you already know it, then what is the need that I learn it too. You are the head of the business. " I said tentatively.
" But I would not live forever. Mehul and I would also die someday, then what would both of you do?? You would not have any professional knowledge of our legacy. How will you take care of the business?? I think even Mihir should learn it. Life is too unpredictable. " "
" Dad, please don't talk like that. We just lost him... Please," don't say all that. I would learn everything you say. " I said and hugged him. Chachu and Mihir joined us to have a group hug.
Dad's phone was ringing so he picked up the call.
I had agreed to stay here and agreed for taking the training but was upset about the girl child, so Mahi came and hug me. She was our little princess and both Mihir and I loved her a lot.
" Don't worry bhai!! You can do it bhai!! You have always taken such good care of me, if mom and dad are not around, so I think you can manage. I love you, Bhai. And I believe in you. You can do anything. My superhero brother. " She said and Mihir smiled and nodded.
" Hey, whatever you are saying about him is right but I am still feeling jealous. I am also a good brother to you... Am I not??" Mihir made a long face and said to Mahi. We both shook our heads and he made a face. We laughed and hugged him. He smiled as well
" Thanks for your vote of confidence... but I am still not convinced. " I said.
" Don't worry, I am just a phone call away when ever you face a problem, give me a call. " Chachi said and I gave her a hug. My mom was looking at us with so much love.
" Megha, you know he loves you more than he loves me. " My mom said, Chachi nodded and smiled.
" Hey, by the way... According to the clauses in the will, Manik has to get married within a year. What is to be done about that??" Dad asked.
" Have you anyone special with whom you want to share your life or shall we look for someone perfect for you?? " Mom asked.
" I still have a year... what is the hurry??" I said.
