《Eureka》⇜ Chapter Three ⇝

You hug your bag to your chest, biting your bottom lip nervously. Your first ever sleepover. You, but hanging out with a bunch of super cool kids you really never thought you'd even get to look at in high school.
You sigh a bit as you repeat the address in your head, heading downstairs to the front door "Bye, mom! I'm going to my sleepover! If you need me don't be afraid to text me, okay?"
"Okay, sweetie! Don't stay up too late, okay?" Your mother called from the kitchen.
"Bye (N/n)!" You hear Emily from the other room, followed by the sound of your mother scolding her for trying to call to you with food in her mouth. You chuckle a bit and head out the door to the car, throwing your bag in the backseat.
Sidney's house wasn't as far as you thought it would be. A small ride just a small bit away from the clustered buildings of the town, just a little far out. You step out of the car and make your way to the front door nervously, knocking on it. Randy greets you at the door, a large grin on his face.
"You actually came!" Randy cheers throwing the screen door open and pulling you inside "I thought you'd bail on us for some math homework!"
You giggle a bit "No, no. I wouldn't do that! I finished all my work super early so I wouldn't miss this at all."
"(Y/n)!" Billy and Stu both scream from the hall "Come to the living room, we were just gonna watch Black Christmas."
You grin "Really? I love that movie!" You giggle a bit moving down the hall, Randy following you. You don't get far before Billy and Stu grab your hands and rush you to the living room, where Tatum sits besides Sidney painting their nails in their Pjs.
You sit besides Billy and Stu on the sofa, Randy taking the spot on the floor right in front of you with a popcorn bowl. You snuggle comfortably into the sofa besides the two as you watch the movie.
"Why don't they ever show who the killer is?" Tatum mumbles "You never see his face, really."
You giggle a bit "You get to see his eye a few times. Besides, this and Texas Chainsaw Massacre were both two films that created the slasher genre as we know it today. They both came out the same year and completely threw the horror genre into a whole new era."
"You sound just like Randy," Sidney chuckles "No wonder you both work together."
You giggle a bit "I love horror movies. I watched them with my dad all the time when I was really little. Mom always hated when I watched them because I'd never go to sleep, too many nightmares."
"Ugh, my brother was more worried about me watching them then my mom was. He's wayyy to over protective." Tatum chuckles "But he's still my bro."
"He's a cop, Tates," Stu chuckles "Of course he's over protective."
You giggle a bit turning your attention back to the film. As you paid attention to the movie you realized that you kept feeling eyes on you, mainly from Billy and Stu who sat on either side of you. You glance up to Stu as you catch him staring at you.
"Is there something on my face?" You asked uneasily "You guys keep looking at me."

Billy chuckles "No, it's not that. It's just that... it's nice seeing you have fun. I mean, you're always stressed with work. You should totally hang out with us more often."
"Yeah, totally!" Randy joins in "We hang out like this nearly every weekend. You should start joining us."
You grin a bit "Really? I'd love to... T-That is if I don't have any work to do on the weekends. School's going a bit easier because the last quarter is coming up, so maybe it'll be possible!"
"It'd be cool to have another girl around. All these dudes are driving me crazy." Tatum jokes putting up her nail polish.
"We've been over this, Randy isn't one of the dudes in this friend group. Therefore the women already out number the dudes." Stu jokes, making everyone in the room chuckle other than Randy.
"Hey, when did we go over this? Because I don't think I was there!" Randy retorts "Fine, ya'll think I'm a fool? Guess you don't want the rest of the popcorn!" He says scooting away from the seat "Now you'll never reach me-"
"Yoink." You state simply as you pull the popcorn bowl into your lap "Sorry, Randy. But it's a lawless land and I like extra butter."
Billy and Stu cackle at the pout on Randy's face and, as the movie ends, it is time to pick the next film.
"Billy, Stu and I all picked horror movies." Randy chuckles "Tatum picked an action film and Sidney picked out... Is this a Disney movie? Sid, I'm disappointing."
"I don't like horror films, they're obnoxious and you know it." She says with very little remorse.
You giggle a bit "Can I make some more popcorn?"
Billy and Stu grin grabbing your arms and pulling you up.
"We can show you were it is!" Stu says taking your hand and pulling you along.
"W-Woah, okay-" You giggle a bit at the sheer energy of Stu.
"Before you ask," Billy says "He's always like this."
You smile a bit "Good to know. Thanks for showing me to the kitchen. This is a big ol house."
Billy chuckles heading over to the stove with the popcorn tray "Of course. Wouldn't want our new friend getting lost in this labyrinth."
"New friend?" You giggle "You guys have been trying to talk to me a lot since that day at the video store. Are you guys up to something behind my back or what?"
"Not necessarily," Billy chuckles "I just wanted to talk to you. We got sick of seeing you on our own, and then I sat and realized that we have an uneven amount of friends in our friend group and I, for one, prefer even numbers."
"Oh, really?" You giggle.
Stu hugs you from behind "Of course, who wouldn't want a cool kid like you in their friend group?"
"A cool kid? You guys are more than incorrect there." You state skeptically.
Billy chuckles moving closer in front of you, you didn't realize now but being so close between the two boys made you feel odd. Billy grabs your chin tilting your head up "You're too hard on yourself, doll. Look at you; you're sweet- everyone thinks of you as a friend. You're at the top 5 of our class, you come about nearly everyone else. Not to mention you're beautiful."
You feel your cheeks heat up, and Stu's grip on you from behind wasn't helping "Yeah, you're the coolest kid me and Billy have ever seen."

"I-I... um... Thanks!" You giggle shyly "Um, we should really watch that popcorn, right?"
You watch Billy, who was staring you down intently "Popcorn..." He suddenly blinks a few times, a look of dumbfounded realization on his face "Oh fuck, right. The popcorn." He says backing towards the stove. Stu slowly releases you from his hold chuckling, scolding Billy lightheartedly for being an idiot.
You release a breath in your chest you didn't know you were holding. These boys were going to be the death of you, you were sure of it. Is it morally okay to see both of them as attractive when they were both dating people in the friend group you were trying to join? You know that if you should go for anyone in this group it should be Randy, but you really don't see him that way. But why Billy and Stu? You didn't really know yourself to have a 'type' or anything but... even if you did, why them?
"You okay, (Y/n)?" Billy chuckled "You seem a bit dazed."
You shake your head letting out a giggle to release the tension in your body "No I um, I just- I'm really happy that you guys let me hang out with you all. I hardly have anyone, really. Unless my mom and my little sister count."
"Oh, really? That's weird. I mean, I know you probably don't have a lot of time for people, and I'm really glad you found the time for us." Stu says sitting on the kitchen counter.
You grin wide at him "Yeah, I'm pretty glad about it too." You slide up besides him on the counter and he uses this as an excuse to wrap an arm around you. You you tense for a moment, but you slowly allow yourself to ease into his hold.
"So, what do you think about Randy?" Billy asked "You've worked with him for awhile."
You giggle "Yeah for like, most of high school. He's cool, totally my favorite coworker. The others are pretty boring. But he's a really cool dude."
Billy grins a bit "Just a 'cool dude'?" he says, giving Stu a small glance, Stu grinning back at him like an idiot.
"Y-Yeah, I mean, he's a horror geek like me so he's really nice, he's a good friend." You say shyly looking down at your lap "Nothing wrong with him."
Stu chuckles "We're just teasing you. He talks about you all the time, you know? Always talking about how your day is going."
You feel your cheeks heat up a small bit "R-Really? He talks about me?"
"Always saying praise to your name. He told us you made a new friend over the phone, though. Someone you've been talking to." Stu grins "Who's the lucky guy?"
You look back up at them to find the two boys eyeing you curiously "O-Oh, the boy on the phone I've been talking to? He's just some stranger who called me on accident and we ended up getting along after talking for an hour or two. We're just friends."
"Really? Friends with a complete stranger?" Billy asked.
You nod "Well, yeah. The only thing I really know about him is that he goes to my school. We both decided not to tell each other who we were. He's just a friend, though. Besides, if he knew it was me he wouldn't talk to me anymore."
Stu chuckles "What? Why wouldn't he?"
"Well, I mean... What if it was a guy from the football team or something? Those guys are emotionally dense." You say "They'd drop me completely."
Billy nods a bit ruffling your hair "I get it, but still, he's lucky to have such a cutie on the other line. Lucky he doesn't know, he might just snatch ya up."
You giggle a bit "Doubtful, they're probably already seeing someone. Someone who's a million times more social and better with people, and someone who actually has the time to go hang out with them."
"You're way too hard on yourself, you know that?" Stu chimes in.
You shrug "Maybe? I don't know, I just think a lot about high school stuff. Dating, parties, sleepovers..."
"Well, you've got one out of three done." Billy says "You'll reach the other two before graduation, especially with us around now."
"T-That really isn't necessary-" You try to move up off the counter but Billy places both arms besides you and traps you there besides Stu
"Like hell it isn't. Come on, live a little. You can start tonight." He says happily before taking your hands and pulling you off the counter "We'll start off with a few movies and a heck ton of stupid jokes."
Stu chuckles grabbing the popcorn bowl and pouring the popcorn into it "Come on, lets head back to the gang."
You nod a small bit and follow the two boys back to the living room, them having already picked out a movie and settled around the tv. You each take your former spots on the sofa (the boys sat a little closer to you this time, but you didn't complain) and you all spent the rest of the night watching the movie.
Apparently, it was normal for the group not to make it upstairs before it was actually time to sleep. Randy explained briefly that you guys often fell asleep around the forth movie into the night. You took that as a warning and changed into your night shirt a little early. When you came back to the living room Sidney and Tatum were already down for the count, both of them leaning against each other as they snore away.
You snuggle back into the spot besides Stu and Billy, both of them still pretty focused on the movie but sparing glances at you every once in awhile. Randy was the next to go out like a light, exactly after he finished lecturing you three on how the film you guys were watching was a cinematic classic. He just passed out on the ground.
You sigh "Three down, three remain." You half joke "Not for long though, I feel the sandman coming for me."
"Michael Myers or sleep?" Stu jokes
You giggle tiredly "I'll find out when I get there." You tease laying against Stu and nudging your legs against Billy. He chuckles a bit and lifts your legs onto his lap and leans himself into you. Your cheeks heat up a small bit when Stu snuggles into you, pulling you closer to his chest.
Billy rest his head against the side of your arm, leaving you all stacked up together in a very odd position, but honestly it wasn't uncomfortable. You smile a bit "Night guys." You mumble tiredly closing your eyes.
"Sweet dreams."
"Don't let the creepers bite."
"Oh, you mean you guys?"
"Pssh, shut up."
As you happily drifted off to sleep, you felt one thing swelling up in your heart; pure happiness. Maybe putting some time away for friends in high school wouldn't be that bad. Especially with friends like these.

The Mystifying Diviner
Content warning, there is cursing in the story and there will be some pretty heavy sexual innuendos in it also. I don’t really plan to write gore, but there will be fight scenes. Fair warning to readers, it is a slow start. But hopefully it is enjoyable for you to read. Follow the story of an old chef who was lucky to be selected to become a system host. Well maybe not so lucky, because gaining the system killed him. He will be given a system that might not be the best match for him. While also having to deal with a snarky system monitor who might not be that helpful most of the time. He will also use his new found powers to enjoy life in a new younger body. What you can expect from this story is bad writing, poor grammar, and slow pacing maybe. Food, cooking, comedy, slice of life, fighting, exploring, tournaments, scamming and probably face slapping. I mean who doesn’t like a good face slapping? This is my take on a cultivation story, a lot of Eastern stuff will be crammed into with a mix of Western. This story started as a goal for myself to write 60,000 words in a month for NaNoWriMo. I was able to do it even with taking days off and not writing. I plan to keep writing the story, but at a slightly slower pace. I am aiming for 2-3 chapters a week now with about 4-7k words written. This is only posted on RoyalRoad currently, and I have no plans to change that for now. Cover art is by Jack0fheart [Participant in the 2021 Royal Road Writathon Challenge for the month of November 2021]

Truck-kun Gets Sacrificed
Driscoll is my own version of a world with a game-like "system" of endless possibilities. MC has his own status, classes, skills, magic, and a living greatswordstaff in a world of monsters, demi-humans of all kinds, and even the supernatural. Sound good? Well, at first for Tru, it was a dream come true(I'm sorry). At least until reality hits him again and again. His quest from God is vague and must be discovered by him along the way. Hopefully, he can figure that out someday but for now, this new world's threats and his potential for power are motivation aplenty. With His new partner by his side, he's ready to embark on his mission of infinite sacrifice, however many lives it takes. The setting is pretty standard for fantasy, with my beginner attempts at writing. Litrpg elements are definitely involved here but It'll calm down as the story progresses and the world's foundation is laid. Judeo/Christian themes and principles take a major role and will be a backbone for much of the story. The fights will paint a picture in the mind rather than just be a bunch of number crunching. While he is meant to be a sacrifice to save all of Driscoll, he needs to gain enough power and influence to be a worthwhile sacrifice, or so he thinks. And so carnage will ensue as he avoids death as best he can while at the same time sacking himself for others. Truck Coon is your average determined, jiu-jitsu practitioner, tax associate that just started his new career. He dies to save kids from a semi-truck(Truck Coon got truck-kun'd, making him Truck-kun) and is transported to another world rather conventionally by God. Upon his arrival, he is quickly confronted with his first conflicts in the wild. Give it a shot and let me know what you think. Chapters are currently between 2300 and 4000 words and I try to post weekly, but also deal with severe limitations that cause late posts often. I have zero actual experience with writing stories and only recently started reading web novels in 2020. If you end up hating it, let me know your thoughts in a detailed comment or review, especially if you love it though :D I want to get better and welcome the feedback, so expect changes to be made with any flaws that y'all point out which I don't already have plans to address in future chapters. That being said, keep it constructive in nature, please. I have no Idea how the formatting and such will go, so if you like or dislike some techniques I try, give me that well-appreciated feedback! Thank you for reading.
