《float with me | IT》-25-

I watched the street outside my bedroom window impatiently. It was five past ten and Bill still hadn't come out of his house. I walked away from the window and turned to the mirror; I had messily braided my hair, wishing I had Beverly with me the whole time I was doing it, into two long braids that hung down my back. My white lace shorts peaked out from underneath my large off-the-shoulder t-shirt, and I was wearing a pair of worn, white chucks.
Hearing a noise from outside, I turned back to the window to see Bill walking up my driveway. I dashed downstairs as the doorbell rang and opened the front door with a grin on my face.
"Hey Bill. Took you're time, didn't ya?" I chirped.
"Sorry, my d-d-dad wasn't happy with me b-because of something." he replied as we walked down my driveway towards his bike.
"No that's alright. Do you want to talk about it?" I asked, but he shook his head.
"Not really." he replied and I nodded. He hopped on the front of his bike and I climbed on behind him. I snaked my arms around his waist and I felt him tense slightly before relaxing and turning look at me with a small smile.
In less than a second we were zooming down the street, the wind rustling through our hair. I laughed at the adrenalin that was coursing through my veins and leaned closer into Bill's back.
"Hi-yo, Silver! Away!"

"Get your hands off of me!" Eddie snapped, pushing Richie away.
"But look at all this flubber!" Richie replied, pinching Eddie's stomach.
"It's not flubber, it's muscle!"
"Okay I'm pretty sure abs aren't supposed to be this squishy."
"Like you would know! I don't see any shape on you." Eddie wrapped his arms around his bare chest self-consciously. The boys had all stripped down to their jocks and I was sitting on the ground near the cliff with them awkwardly, wondering if Beverly was going to show.
"No shape is better than still having baby fat." Richie pushed up his glasses.
"I do not have baby fat!" Eddie screamed.
Richie opened his mouth to say more, but I cut in before he could. "Alright can it Richie, I think Eddie's had enough." Richie shrugged and Eddie looked away, annoyed.
"But that was so fun to watch." Stan said from beside me and I rolled my eyes.
"So do you think Beverly is going to come?" Ben asked. He hadn't spoken much since we had arrived and had constantly snuck glances behind us, hopefully.

"Probably not. Why would she want to hang out with a bunch of losers like us?" Richie said and Bill gave him a light shove.
"She'll come." Bill said confidently.
"Well I'm sick of waiting around. Wanna jump in now?" Richie asked and the boys nodded. I stood up with them and Stan looked at me weirdly.
"Are you going in with your clothes on?" he asked quietly.
"Oh, no, of course not." I said hastily, grabbing the hem of my shirt and bringing my arms up to pull it off. Stan's eyes widened and he looked away quickly, walking over to the Losers who were peering over the edge of the cliff. I slid down my shorts and put my clothes with the rest of the boys', slowly walking over towards where they stood.
"Alright, it's tradition. Everyone's got to spit over the edge." Eddie said, making weird noises in his throat as he conjured up phlegm. I took my place next to Richie on the very left of the group, my shoulder lightly brushing against his. He turned to look at me and his eyes widened as he took in my exposed body. I felt the rest of the boys' gazes zoom in on my chest. I crossed my arms self-consciously, but instead of covering myself my breasts squeezed together and their eyes widened even more.
I coughed awkwardly, turning my body away from them and facing the water. "So, spitting contest?" I asked and they snapped out of it in unison.
"Right, yeah." Richie said, making hacking noises before a big white blob flew into the water below. Then Stan leaned forward, followed by Bill, Ben, and Eddie. I tried to contain my laughter as Eddie's landed on the ground in front of him, a green glob in the dirt.
"Oh my god that was terrible." Richie groaned. "I guess I'm the winner."
"You won?" Eddie asked incredulously.
"Yeah!" Richie replied.
"Did you see my loogie?" Eddie asked. Stan snickered.
"Mine went the furthest! It's about the distance." Richie exclaimed.
"It's mass, it's always been mass."
"What even is mass?" Richie huffed.
"Who cares about how far it goes, it's about how cool it looks. Like if it's green, or white, or juicy and fat."
"Oh my god Eddie you're disgusting." I said.
"Alright, who's first?" Bill asked and we all looked down hesitantly. From where we were standing the drop looked huge, much bigger than it really was. I felt butterflies form in my stomach and I contemplated whether or not it was such a good idea. I was about to ask them whether we could die from jumping, when a voice came from behind us.

"I'll go!" we all turned to see Beverly, the length of her hair noticeably shorter, dropping her bike and unbuttoning her dress. The boys' eyes were glued onto her as she peeled away her clothing, revealing her slim body. "Sissies." she laughed and ran past us, leaping fearlessly into the water below.
"What the fuck?" Richie shouted as she landed with a splash. I spotted her red hair floating in the sea of blue and I heard a laugh that sounded very far away.
"Ah, holy shit! We just got shown up by a girl!" Richie groaned. I gave him a light nudge with my shoulder.
"And what's that supposed to mean?" I asked jokingly. Bill looked at me and then glanced back to the water.
"Do we have to do that now?" Stan asked unsurely.
"Come on!" Beverly shouted, waving her arms up at us. Ben waved back. I watched as Bill took a deep breath before taking a step and leaping into the water below, his eyes glued shut. He landed with a huge splash and I heard Beverly say something as she swam over to him.
"I better not fucking die." Richie muttered as he took a small step backwards before lunging himself after Bill. I watched him disappear under the water and resurface, cheering in victory.
I turned to look at Eddie, Stan and Ben, who were all looking down at the water nervously. Ben took a deep breath before he half-leapt, half-fell forwards, landing with a huge splash that caused Richie to scream. Eddie was next, his small body flying dangerously close to hitting the wall of the cliff. I heard Richie scream again, seeing his body disappear under the water as Eddie landed on him. Stan and I burst into laughter.
I turned to look at Stan expectantly. "You gonna go?" I asked.
"Uhh, you can go first." he replied and I shook my head.
"No way, I'm not going to let you chicken out." I smirked and wrapped my arms around him, pushing us both off the edge. My stomach dropped as we soared downwards, my hair trailing above my head. Stan screamed as we fell and I pushed away just before we hit the water.
The cold water enveloped my body and I swam up to the surface, laughing as soon as I took my first breath. Stan came up coughing beside me, his curly hair now lying flat on his forehead.
"I hate you." he spluttered as I swam away from him and over to the rest of the gang.
"Chicken fight!" Richie screamed, launching himself at Ben and causing them both to fall underwater. Beverly laughed and swam over to Bill, saying something before she hopped on his shoulders. Richie and Ben resurfaced, and this time Richie climbed up with less force.
I turned to look at Stan who had swum up beside me and nudged him. "Wanna be chickens together?" I asked and he rolled his eyes.
"As long as you don't try to drown me like you did just before." he replied before turning around so I could get on his shoulders.
"Hey, I don't have a partner." Eddie pouted.
"That's because nobody wants to be on a team with someone who has that much flubber." Richie replied, snickering.
"I do not have flubber!" Eddie yelled.
"Whatever you say, Eds."
"Alright fine. But that means I get to be the umpire and I make the rules!" Eddie said as we formed a circle around him, Richie now on Ben's shoulders. "I want to see a fair game, no dirty play! I'm talking to you, Richie."
"Yeah yeah, Eds. Let's just get this started already." Richie grinned. "You guys are going down."
"In your dreams, Trashmouth." I smirked and I felt Stan laugh.
"Ready, set, go!" Eddie said, before he was trampled by Ben as he zoomed at Bill and Beverly. Richie grabbed onto Beverly's arms and she screamed at Bill to move as they leaned sideways. Stan splashed over towards the group and I gave Richie a hard shove, causing him to topple into the water and onto Bill and Beverly.
"Strike!" I screamed in victory, throwing my hands up in the air. Stan let go of my legs and threw his hands up as well, causing me to slide backwards. I let out a small yelp before I toppled into the water.
"Stan!" I yelled when I resurfaced, turning to see him laughing at me. "Not funny."
"That was very funny." he replied.
"Okay, who won?" Eddie asked out of nowhere, spitting water out of his mouth. "I missed it."
