《The Roftkal Love》Chapter Fourteen

While Linx was able to sleep in comfort, he wasn't able to sleep in peace. Every few hours he would wake up because the need to cough was too much or his body was in so much discomfort that it forced him to wake up.

Luckily, the boys seemed to have made some sort of schedule of who'll be taking care of Linx during the night. So whenever he woke up and coughed up a storm, water was soon provided and he quickly fell back asleep.

Fortunately, Linx didn't have that much strength to oppose the boys' help either, so the night passed with ease. But if he did have the strength, the boy's would've probably have gotten headaches as well.

"-Linx, Linx, wake up. Breakfast is ready." Remi gently pushed Linx awake, to which Linx ignored. Remi, the patient soul, just kept on nudging him for the next few minutes until Linx was too awake to go back to sleep.

Linx rolled his eyes behind his closed eyelids and weakly slapped Remi's hand away, as he slowly got into an upright position in his bed. Yes, it seemed like during the night the boys managed to carry him back into his room, wrap him like a burrito, and then add another heavyweight blanket on top. Not like he minded, he quite liked the even weight on him.

Linx was about roll off the bed, which took way too much of his energy to do so, but was stopped by Remi's hands. Linx cracked his eyes opened to see why he was stopped and was dumbfounded when he saw Trev carrying a large tray of food right behind Remi.

"We didn't think you would like getting out of bed so early, so we thought you'd like your breakfast in bed instead?" Remi questioned, not too sure how Linx would react. Though it seems like so far Linx has been accepting of everything so far, Remi wasn't really sure if that acceptance was because Linx felt like he wanted to or he needed to accept everything that's been going on. A small fear at the back of Remi's mind thought of how Linx might explode at them and start hating them for everything they've done so far.

Remi didn't like how rushed everything felt and how careless it seemed, like they were throwing balls at Linx and expecting him to catch them all. He didn't like but he couldn't think of another way to approach Linx's gloomy self without being a bit forceful and making Linx see that trusting them isn't such a bad thing. Still, Remi made sure he was careful with his actions so that his fear won't come true.

Linx shrugged and lightly motioned with his head to put the tray on his lap. He didn't really mind being served in bed, just surprised that they took the time to even make breakfast for him and serve him in bed. It was a weird prospect for him, being taken care of by the boys. He wasn't too sure if he even wanted to be comfortable with being taken care of by the boys, it almost seemed... selfish? Intrusive? Annoying? He didn't know and didn't both to answer his question, for his stomach had other problems to worry about.

The tray was set down and he was even more surprised by the effort of his breakfast. There was a toasted sandwich cut in half, it showing off the many leafy greens, slices of chicken, and tomatoes it had in it. There was also a small plate of peeled mandarins with a couple blueberries off to the side. To top it all off, a large cup of tea, with two pills next to it, stood there proudly.

This wasn't breakfast, it was a damn buffet. He doubted he could even finish everything since he's never eaten so much for breakfast.

But he dug in anyway, not wanting it to go to waste. He drank the pills first, then moved to the sandwich. As he ate, he stared at Trev. Remi had already gone out the room to wherever, but Trev remained and was going through his drawer of clothes. Linx didn't bother to stop him since there was nothing to hide in there.

But apparently Trev did think Linx was hiding something in there. He kept on rummaging through everything, double and triple checking each drawer. After a full fifteen minutes of searching, he closed the drawers and left the room.

Okay...?

Linx was curious to what Trev was searching for, but he didn't try to voice his thoughts.

He finished eating the sandwich and the tea was already gone. He didn't feel like eating the fruits, so he pushed the tray to the side of the bed and looked around the room. He wanted to sleep but he didn't like how motionless he was. Linx was used to constantly moving, whether that was shoving someone to the floor or swaying his body from side to side.

Thus, against his better judgement, he got out of bed and went to his bathroom. And oh man were his muscles screaming and tearing him down, forcing him to kneel to the ground within the first couple steps. But he shook it off and treated his pain as if he was in a match and just got slammed to the ground, forcing him to forget the pain and focus on the end goal.

Once he made it to the bathroom, he started to wash his face and then brush his teeth.

Holding his arm up for such a long period of time has never hurt as it did now.

He quickened his pace, his resolve to ignore the pain quickly crumbling down. Just as he was drying his face, Finn's worried voice filled the room.

"Hey Linx, how's the- Linx? Where's Linx? Trev, where's Linx?" Finn's voice turned cold at the end, promising destruction if he found out anything bad happened to Linx.

Linx knocked his hairbrush down, hoping the clatter will notify the two that he's in the bathroom. It did and the two rushed over, thinking that maybe the clattering was Linx falling to the ground.

They were wrong of course, but it didn't stop the worry from spreading across their faces when they saw how wobbly and pale Linx was. Finn tossed the clothes that he was holding at the bed and rushed to give support to Linx. Trev put the hairbrush back on the counter and went to the other side of Linx to wrap his hands around his waist and lead him to the bed.

Linx was a second away from pushing the two away, but his world titled to the side all of a sudden and he couldn't tell where the ground was. Thankfully, the two were already supporting him or he might've hit his head against the wall.

They were surprised by Linx's sudden collapse and almost fell down with him. But they held on and slightly dragged Linx over to the bed, gently placing him in his back and head tilted to the side.

Finn sat next to him and put Linx's head on his lap, slowly brushing out all the knots out his greasy hair, while Trev went out the room to talk to the others.

Linx could vaguely feel something in his hair, it being quite relaxing. He tried to focus on that sensation, hoping it'll ground him and bring back his sense of balance. A few minutes in, his dizziness wasn't restored but at least he felt more at ease.

But just as all good things must come to an end, Linx's mood soon turned sour.

With all the free time that he managed to get from this sickness of his, he also managed to get a lot of free time for his thoughts as well. And just as usual, Linx's thoughts were never pretty.

He was getting irritated by his lack of strength and amount of pampering from the boys.

Besides from when he was a kid, he has never felt this powerless and fragile. He was so used to running everyday, forcing his muscles to go past their limit, and feeling the burn of his hard work.

And while he was used to the boy's antics of wanting to take care of Linx, Linx wasn't used to them spoiling him. Pecks on the cheek and partial hugs he was okay with, but to be taken care of 24/7?

He wasn't ready for that spotlight yet.

Actually, he wasn't prepared for anything. His only line of defense against everybody was his ability to ignore and elude the situation. He's only needed to use that strategy for all these years because most just forget the problem with time or couldn't succeed to capture Linx with his elusiveness.

But the past two weeks the boys have been able to break down Linx's elusiveness, which was making it harder and harder for Linx to just ignore them. With his only strategy going down the drain, he was feeling quite exposed by not being able to protect himself from others.

And all these problems of his were making him frustrated.

For he didn't wish to be Linx anymore, the one who runs away and pretends that others can't see him.

He wanted to be Roftkal, the one who beats his problems away and doesn't give two cares to the world.

So Linx, ignoring every protest from his body, opened his eyes and slowly got up. He looked around his room to decide what his next course of action was and thought of going to the kitchen for a quick snack.

He couldn't hear Finn's distraught voice when he suddenly began to stand up and started to walk towards the door.

As if his body was warning him, a throbbing migraine started to fiercely form, causing his vision and body to wane to the side. Luckily, something was able to steady him and gain his balance again.

And even though Linx should've stopped there and just go back to resting, his stubborn nature made him shrug off his support and continue his unsteady walk to the door.

But his body had had enough of his annoying antics, forcing it to focus on Linx's stability instead of his recovery. So to combat the stubborn owner of this body, it forced Linx to faint and hoped this'll stop his destructive choices made to his body for a couple hours at least.

And to the relief of the body, something was able to catch Linx again and tightly secure him against it's warmth.
