《The Roftkal Love》Chapter Fifteen

"Sirs, your appointment should be in fifteen minutes. As well, I recommend that only two of you go with Mr. Yolda when called, since there are only two available chairs in the room." The kind receptionist informed them, giving them a lovely close lipped smile. Kade returned the gesture, but declined her offer.

"No, it's alright. We all want to be there for him, so once he wakes up he won't be too surprised for not being at home."

"Ah, well that's quite sweet of you. Hope he recovers soon." She turned back to her computer and resumed typing.

"I hope that as well." Kade murmured and went back to the trio.

Unfortunately for them, all the chairs had arms, it stopping them from laying Linx down comfortably on their laps to make sure he doesn't get a neck cramp. So instead Linx has been resting his head against Finn's shoulder, then gently being switched over to lean on Remi's shoulder to try to avoid getting any cramps.

Kade furrowed his eyebrows, not liking how Linx's complexion hasn't improved at all so far. His nose and cheeks were a dull cherry red, eyebrow scrunched up, and hair clinging to his forehead because of his sweat.

At least he wasn't cold. After Linx collapsed, nobody knew what to do. But the clock was ticking and they only had an hour before their appointment. While they would've let Linx keep on resting and simply rescheduled it, they wanted to make sure that he was just sick and nothing serious was happening to him.

So Remi and Trev quickly undressed him and bundled him up in warm winter clothes. For some reason, Linx didn't have any proper winter clothes, so Trev took some clothes from each person and now Linx was wrapped up in coziness. From a chunky scarf to fuzzy mittens, Linx was ready for any cold weather.

Kade sat down next to Finn and flipped his phone open, quickly sending Austin a message.

Orion up yet or still sleeping?

Asleep. Had a tough night from work yesterday. Making him some more pancakes for him.

And Trev?

Gone. Said he was meeting up with some friends. I think he's lying.

Again? If he's acting weird when he comes back, talk to him. If not, wait until we're home and then we'll decide what to do.

Okay.

See you soon then. Love you ❤️

Love you too.

"Hey, tell him I love him too! I forgot to give him a goodbye kiss this morning." Finn nudged Kade, a small pout on his plump lips.

Finn says he loves you too-

"And add lots of hearts! And say Remi does too, we can't forget about him!" Finn nudged him a bit harder, his eyes concentrated on the phone to make sure his request was completed.

Finn says he loves you too and Remi as well ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Love you two as well.

And Linx too.

"Oh my god, how could I forget Linx?! Ahh, now I fell bad. Maybe I'll make Linx a cake as an apology..." Finn rested his head against Kade's shoulder and started to play with Kade's fingers, thinking hard about how he could be forgiven for his wrongdoing.

"But you can't even make proper pancakes, much less a cake." Kade playfully chided, remembering his soggy pancakes.

"And that's why you'reeee gonna help me!" Finn leaned in further and pecked Kade on the side of his lip, giving him a toothy grin. Kade shook his head and looked over to Linx, his playful attitude dropping when seeing his discomfort. Finn kept playing with Kade's rigid fingers, thinking about what he could talk about to distract Kade from his worrying.

But when Finn remembered that one time a cat scratched him and the scratch ruining his favorite long sleeve shirt, and got ready to ramble all about it, a nurse popped into the waiting room.

"Mr. Yolda?"

"Yes, that's us." Kade interlocked his hand with Finn's and pulled both of them up. Kade quickly examined Finn to make sure he was doing well, before looking over at Remi and Linx.

Linx was the same uncomfortable mess and Remi looked to be fine too, though an unusual frown was found on him. But the frown should go away when they can find out why Linx is so sick.

Kade let go of Finn's hand and went over to bridal carry Linx. With one arm secured under his knees and armpits, Kade awkwardly hoisted him up. While Kade wasn't weak in any aspect of strength, Linx wasn't exactly on the light side of the weight scale.

Because despite being on the shorter with the boys, all of his lean muscle made up for the lost height. Though he typically hide behind sweatpants and loose shirts, they never knew until recently how fit Linx was.

With his flimsy singlet doing nothing to hide his groovy body while he was wrestling, they all got the pleasure of realizing how much more attractive Linx was actually. Before, they've only been able to admire his chiseled face that seemed to always look good no matter how many shadows were in the way, and his melancholy eyes.

But anyway, Kade was only able to carry Linx for a short amount of time before he was sure a muscle of his might tear. So he swiftly moved towards the nurse, Finn already holding the door, and followed the nurse to their assigned room.

Upon entering the small room, Kade went towards the hospital bed and gently placed Linx down, making sure his head won't bang against the rubbery surface.

"Another nurse will join you shortly to do a quick physical examination. After that, we'll probably see if he has the flu or any other sickness. But before all that, I would ask for Mr. Yolda to be awake so we can measure his weight and height, if that's possible?" The nurse politely asked and Kade nodded, making the nurse nod back and leave the room.

The moment the door clicked closed, all their eyes moved towards Linx with a single question in mind; who's going to wake him up?

Unfortunately, Austin wasn't here with them since he would usually do the unkind but necessary actions. So the three of them eyed one another until Remi decided he'll be the one who'll be sacrificed. And honestly, Remi didn't feel guilty about waking Linx up, he does it all the time in his classroom.

He's just worried about getting jabbed in the ribs, that's all.

So Remi walked behind Linx, so he wouldn't be immediately hit, and gently but firmly rocked Linx's shoulders back and forth. After a few shakes, Linx groggily woke up. Linx opened his eyes to only clamp them down again, the bright lights making his head spin with pain.

Soon the rocking motion that woke him up returned and Linx's overall head pain increased, forcing him to smack whatever was behind him. His plan worked and the rocking stopped, regaining his peace.

"Linx, you got to wake up, we're at the doctor. Finn should have some sunglasses for you to wear if the lights bother you again." A soft voice tickles his right ear, causing him to flinch away and hit his head against the wall.

A storm of curses goes off in Linx's head but only a painful grunt is heard from him. But while he was distracted, Remi and Kade's hands were on his back and knees, sliding him into an upright position. They also took off Linx's boots, which were also borrowed from Trev, his coat, mittens, and scarf.

Once Linx gained his senses again he felt a pair of sunglasses on his face and his back being supported by a wall. Before opening his eyes, Linx tried to listen to figure out who was in the room, but the pain in his head caused him to keep getting distracted, so he just tentatively opened his eyes instead.

With the help of his new shades, he was able to quickly examine his situation and get more confused. For he was just in the house, he passed out, and was expecting to wake up in his bed again, not in this cramped, fairytale themed room.

He glared at Kade, the one closest to him, and Kade clearly saw the threat behind those glasses. But Kade couldn't be the slightest threatened, nobody in this room could. For how could they be afraid of this fluff ball that was dressed up in their clothes, wearing floral sunglasses, with his cheeks being flushed with a pretty pink. He looked more adorable then scary.

Of course, they couldn't neglect his confusion so Kade explained it.

"Last night we set up a doctor's appointment for you to make sure nothing was wrong with you. We were planning to tell you, but things just kept on getting in the way, and by the time you fainted we had to leave the house or we would have missed your appointment. We're, uh sorry for forcing you to come but we didn't want a dead body on our hands. Plus, Finn can make you a cake if you're upset at us!" Kade smiled at Linx and ignored the gasp from behind him.

Linx, half-listening half-ignoring his pain, got the general gist of it and didn't hold any dumb grudges against them. Besides, if this appointment goes well maybe he could get some random pills to ease his suffering. But even with that in mind, Linx still didn't relax and kept watch of the door.

Seeing Linx not glaring at him anymore, Kade took that as a positive. Yet when Kade saw Linx's taut muscles, his gaze fixed on the door, the positive turned into a neutral. Sure, he managed to appease Linx's curiosity, but his aim was to relax Linx by letting him know that he was in good hands and doesn't need to worry about anything. Though it seems like the message flew right over Linx's head, not even through one ear out the other.

And just as Kade was about to talk to Linx again, Linx started to have another coughing fit.

Finn instantly jumped up and rushed over, taking out a warm water bottle from his coat and unscrewing, to then put right next to Linx's lips. Linx immediately took hold of the bottle and started to drink, with some coughs interrupting his flow.

By the time his coughing fit was over, half of Linx's energy was drained and all he wished was to be in bed again. He was still stubborn though, so even though he should've just slumped against the wall and take a quick breather, he couldn't relax.

Yes, he knew that the appointment was a good thing and that the boys wouldn't attack him all of a sudden, but that wasn't why he was so on edge. He was on edge because he was suddenly thrusted into a new environment, one that even if he did successfully escape from he wouldn't know how to get back to the house.

So he tried to make himself relaxed, to coax himself, but he quickly stopped his attempts because he's never liked the idea of persuading himself. For him, his world was quite black and white: he either liked it or he didn't. So the moment he didn't like something, he wouldn't try to change his mind because his judgement was enough reason to not like something.

Of course there were some gray areas, like the annoying boys, but he would just ignore these grey areas and hope they'll be solved by themselves.

So he kept watch of the door with his heavy lidded eyes, his throat feeling sore and sensitive.

Luckily the nurse came in within the next minute and the boys didn't need to go and wake Linx up again.

"Hello, I'm Ms. Kaminski and I'll be the one to do a physical exam on Mr. Yolda as well as any testing for viruses and infections. After that, Dr. Petrova will join you and give you instructions on what to do next. With that, can Mr. Yolda come with me to get his height and weight measured, please?" The lady, who looked to be in her early thirties, courteously explained everything and looked at Linx expectedly.

Linx narrowed his eyes on the nurse, not liking her over-the-top manners. He probably would've kept on sitting there and glaring if it wasn't for Kade that hooked his arms around Linx's waist and started to smoothly guide him off the bed.

By the time Linx wanted to protest, he was already standing on his feet. Linx accepted his fate and started to walk towards the nurse, but was surprisingly stopped by Kade. His arms were still hooked on his waist, but were soon removed with a questioning glance from Linx.

Kade didn't want to let go of Linx, afraid that he'll over exert himself and then faint for the third time. And with those tired eyes, he really doubted if Linx could stay steady without a support. So Kade decided to follow the two into the hallway to observe the measurements.

Fortunately for Linx, the measurements were taken swiftly, letting him get back on the stiff bed in less then two minutes. The nurse then brought in a cart of medical equipment to check his ears, eyes, etc. After all that, the nurse got a swab and took some mucus from Linx's nose, saying the results for the flu should be available in ten to fifteen minutes. She also pricked his finger to get a sample of his blood, saying those results should also be done around the same time with the flu.

The nurse left and Linx was finally able to breathe again. Her manners and politeness had set Linx on alert the whole time, for he wasn't used to this kind of personality. He could handle rowdy and rude anyway, but not kind people. For kind people always seemed to hide their true intentions, while rude people made it clear as day what they were after.

Once she left, Linx also wanted to take a quick nap after using so much of his mental and physical stamina. But he couldn't because in ten minutes she'll be back and he'll be vulnerable. So he toughed it out, and since there was nothing else to watch, he continued to look at the door.

The three noticed his actions and couldn't help but be a little peeved at what he's doing. They all noticed how on guard Linx was, plus his wobbly knees, so they were excepting him to rest in these few minutes. But no, instead he keeps on being stubborn and putting on unnecessary stress!

Kade and Remi tried to come up with something to get him relaxed, but Finn was one step ahead. Finn neatly sat down on the bed next to Linx and started to chat with him, effectively distracting him from the door.

"-and so she just turned around with my fabric! Sure, the company paid for it all and it technically wasn't mine, but I had it first! And she didn't even ask." Finn pouted at the last part while playing with Finn's fingers, bending them this and that way. This gentle action along with Finn's rosy voice managed to unconsciously ease Linx, as well as make him slowly drift into sleep.

Finn, noticing Linx's head gradually tilting towards him, slowed down his story and scoot closer to him so Linx's head can rest on his shoulder and not empty air. And to everyone's glee, Linx did rest his head and quietly went to sleep.

The three all looked at each other and silently agreed that they couldn't let Linx wake up; the poor guy needed his rest. So Remi softly opened the door and went outside to wait for the doctor, lest the doctor barges in and wakes up Linx.

Kade sat down on a chair near the bed, and the three sat in a peaceful silence. Finn carried on with playing with Linx's fingers while Kade checked up with Austin and Orion.

The doctor soon came, and just as they hoped, she was quiet as a mouse. Remi shut the door and sat by Kade, while the doctor went by the small desk in the corner and opened up her computer. She sat down on the chair next to the desk and turned around to explain Linx's sickness.

"Mr. Yolda got tested positive for the flu. Everything else seems fine, though I would recommend for him to gain just a bit more weight. But my main concern is Mr. Yolda's immune system. While flu's can get quite bad, most people don't get as weak and tired as Mr. Yolda. And from what nurse Kaminski has told me, it seems like Mr. Yolda is a very stressed person," The doctor spoke quietly and at a moderate pace, making sure the three of them understood so she wouldn't need to repeat herself.

"This leads me to believe that Mr. Yolda either has episodic acute stress or chronic stress. Both of these lead to weakening the immune system, and as you can imagine, making it harder to fight against infections like the flu. So I would recommend that you find the source of this stress so his body can do its job properly. If you can't, then if Mr. Yolda has difficulties breathing, severe coughing, chest pains, high fever, vomiting, or anything serious, go the the hospital. Also, if he doesn't get better in one week, go to the hospital as well." She wrote down all the information, plus a little more, on a piece of paper.

"But to prevent from this happening, make sure he gets plenty of rest, warm fluids, and avoiding any intense physical activity. Over-the-counter medications will also be good to lessen his discomfort so he can peacefully rest more. Here's also a small list of foods that he can eat without disturbing his stomach." She continued writing until the whole A4 paper was filled.

She then said a few more words before leaving the room and telling them to take their time transporting Linx. The boys, kinda overwhelmed with all the new information, read over the paper and made small mental notes of everything that should be done to guarantee Linx's recovery.

The three looked at Linx then at each other, all thinking the same thought: they can do this!
