《The Last Hybrid》11-We are Back

I was still frozen in my spot.

Jonathan kissed me then ran back inside.

That stupid cute idiot kissed me!

And I missed it!

I missed it so much.

It felt like our first kiss all over again.

All over again.

Only it was shorter.

I shook off the feeling and began running to the place I was going to before all that happened.

If we were leaving I needed to talk to Utah first.

I walked into the shop.

Utah approached me in his stupid cloak.

"Greetings Traveler-- Rosie?" He said.

"Shut up and take off the stupid cloak."

He put his hood down and took it off. "You're mean."

"I know, deal with it."

"What's the rush? And what's with the attitude?"

"I'm going back to my pack." I got straight to the point.

"What? When?"

"I'm guessing tomorrow. I promised I would come back and tell you."

"But you always help me with my spells. Who is going to help me when I turn my fish into a gummy?"

"Your mom can help you."

"But she's not as fun."

"Look, if you need help I'll come back, but you know I have to go."

"I know." He mumbled.

"Are you sure you're ok?"

"I'll be fine. I've managed this long. If you need anything just call me and I'll teleport right after."

"You can't teleport."

"Hey! I'm getting close."

"Last week you ended up in the desert."

He crossed his arms over his chest in defeat.

I pulled him into a hug.

His arms slowly wrapped around me.

I released him after a few seconds.

"I got to go." I said.

"I'll miss you."

"I'll miss you too."

I waved goodbye to him before I exited the shop.

The door closed behind me but I didn't move from my spot.

"Who was that?" A voice said beside me.

I jumped up in fear.

When I looked at who it was, it was Jonathan.

"Don't scare me like that!" I said.

He chuckled. "Sorry."

"Did you follow me here? I thought you stayed at the house." I asked.

"You thought wrong cupcake. Who was that? And what kind of shop is this?"

"This is a witch shop and that is My friend Utah. He's a male which."

"Isn't that just a wizard?"

"No. That's a different type of sorcerous."

He looked angry for a moment before masking it.

"Do you two go out a lot?" He asked.

I rolled my eyes. "I didn't sleep with him if that's what you are asking."

His ears perked up.

"Besides he is underage, not my type and he's only a friend," I said.

"So... nothing happened?"

"No."

He looked relieved.

He didn't even try to mask it.

"Come on," I said. "Let's get back to the house. I need to pack."

We began walking in silence.

I felt his pinky brush up against my hand before he grabbed my hand and entangled our fingers.

******************

I had all my stuff in a large suitcase.

I was helping my grandma pack up all her books and potion ingredients.

Because we are teleporting there we have to get everything in the same place.

Because we are teleporting there we have to get everything in the same place.

Teleporting multiple things is a lot more work than just one person.

And it's a lot harder.

We have to get everything inside a ring of salt.

Then my grandma has to recite a different spell.

All the animals and their stuff are already in the living room inside the ring.

Jonathan was in the living room with them.

I'm guessing he was talking to the animals about the land and territory borders.

"Grandma how many books do you need to take?" I asked.

"All of them sweetie. I don't want your mother to get a hold of anything in this house."

She moved a picture that was hanging on the wall of her room.

there was a keypad behind it.

She entered some numbers and it opened up a safe.

There was only one single book in it.

She took it out and there was pure fear in her eyes.

It was very thick and the cover was pure white.

It had black borders on the corners of the book.

And the spine of the book had black markings on it.

The markings were in a language only witches could understand.

Forbidden spells and Incantations.

"What is that?" I asked after a moment of silence.

"It's the spell book your sister used."

My eyes widened. "Is that the book she used to take my mother's powers away."

My grandma nodded.

"Your mother did everything in her power to find this book. But I had convinced her that I destroyed it."

"Why didn't you?"

"I tried. This book is indestructible. That's why I kept it hidden. Where your mother can't get to it."

"What's in it?" I asked.

"Whatever you think is forbidden."

That didn't really answer my question but I didn't want to force her to tell me.

I grabbed a stack of books and went down the stairs.

I placed the books into the circle of salt.

"How many books does she need?" Jonathan asked while he was on the couch holding my grandma's ferret.

"All of them."

"But can't she get new ones other there?"

"These are spell books. One of a kind. You can't just get new ones." I said.

"Well ok then. What kind of spells are in them?"

"Each book has a different variety of spells. One book has teleportation, another has healing, and one has basic starter spells."

"What about love spells?"

I froze. "Um, I've never seen a book with those kinds of spells. I doubt they even exist."

"Oh."

Before either of us could say anything else my grandma walked down the stairs with her last suitcase.

"Are you two ready to go?" She asked.

We both nodded.

"In that case, step into the circle." She addressed every species in the room.

I walked into the salt ring.

Jonathan put don the animal that he was holding in the circle before he walked into it also.

All the animals walked into the large ring as well as my grandma.

"I'm warning you now Jonathan, this is your first teleportation with other people." My grandma said.

"Ok, what's the problem?" He asked.

"There might be some side effects," I said.

"Like what?" He asked slowly.

"Motion sickness, soreness, fatigue, and you might feel like you just had some laughing gas." My grandma answered.

"Wait what!?"

"Lanuae Magicae nobis ad aliquem locum mutat ante mentem eorum."

My grandma recited her spell before Jonathan could do anything else.

There was a large burst of white light.

It was so bright that I had to cover my eyes with my hands.

I could feel the light dimming down.

I removed my hands from my eyes.

We were in front of an unfamiliar house.

"The best part about this place is that the pack house is only a short walk away," Jonathan spoke.

We were back.
