《The Last Hybrid》12-Violet's Revenge

We had almost finished putting everything away.

The animals, including Quincy, were exploring the territory.

They have been gone for a while now so they should be on their way back.

The house was large and in the woods like the pack house was.

The house had all the basic needs already.

It had furniture and a fully stocked up kitchen.

I was just putting away all the books away.

"Are you almost done?" A voice said behind me.

I turned around and saw Jonathan.

"Yeah, I'm almost done."

"Good. I was hoping I could take you to the waterfall. Maybe after we can see the pack."

"Um, I don't know Jonathan. Maybe another day."

I brushed passed him until he grabbed my wrist and stopped me.

"What's wrong? Did I do something?" He asked.

"No. You didn't do anything. I'm just... tired."

"Are you sure?"

I nodded my head. "Yeah. I think I'm just going to go nap in one of the rooms here."

"Ok. Let me know if you need anything."

I nodded and went to one of the rooms.

I wasn't tired, I was worried.

I was worried that the pack would accept me back again

After I left, I wouldn't want me back either.

It wouldn't surprise me if they didn't want me to be their Luna anymore.

I laid down on the bed after closing the door.

I lied my head on my pillow and attempted to sleep.

I stirred around in my sleep until my eyes were fully open.

I felt some weight on my waist.

There was an arm around me connected to a soundly sleeping Jonathan.

His head was buried in the back of my neck and our legs were entangled.

There was no way for me to move without waking him up.

'Why move? We're comfortable aren't we?' Circe's voice popped up in my head.

'Not really. I am starving.'

'I agree.' Valentine appeared. 'I love this position but I have a large appetite.'

'Well, then how do we get out of his grip?' Circe asked.

'Pillow?' Valentine said.

'He's laying on the same pillow we are.' Circe pointed out.

'Then let's take his pillow.' I said.

I reached my arm over his head and grabbed the other pillow.

He stirred around a little bit.

It allowed me to put the pillow in between us.

His arm loosened around me.

I took the opportunity to remove myself from the bed.

He quickly grabbed a hold of the pillow.

He mumbled something as he adjusted himself.

"Don't leave me."

I sighed and brushed a few strands of hair away from his face

"Don't worry. I'll be back."

I walked out of the room and went to the kitchen.

The animals were spread out across the kitchen floor and some were in the living room.

It was pitch black outside except for the moon and stars.

I stepped quietly to the fridge.

"Rosie?"

I jumped up and the fridge shut on its own.

I turned around quickly and saw a tired Quincy.

"Quincy how many times have I told you not to scare me?" I scowled at him.

"Too many for me to count. Anyway it's not like I'm trying to."

I rolled my eyes. "What are you even doing up this late?"

"Same as you, I got hungry."

I opened the fridge again and took out the ingredients to make a sandwich.

I set them on the counter and tossed a piece of ham to Quincy.

As I was making the sandwich I notice something outside.

A figure or a shadow of a person running outside.

"Quincy did you see that?" I asked as I looked at him.

He nodded as he stared outside the window.

I walked carefully with Quincy by my side to the back door.

I opened it and stepped outside.

As soon as we were both outside I closed the door behind me.

Quincy sniffed the air.

"I don't smell anything." He said.

I sniffed the air. "I don't either."

"Are you sure we saw something? Maybe it was just a tree branch." He said.

I shrugged. "Maybe. Let's look around to be sure."

We started to walk around the house.

"See there is nothing." Quincy spoke. "Can we go inside now? It's getting cold."

A sudden breeze appeared and brushed up against my bare skin.

Quincy took a few steps to go back inside until I stopped him.

"Wait, Quincy."

"What? There's nothing here. We checked."

"Where did this wind come from?"

"Um, the sky?"

"No. I mean it just appeared suddenly."

I heard some rustling behind me.

"Telo lumen!" I shot a bolt of light in the direction of the rustling.

I shot a bush and it caught on fire.

"Ponet manum super flammae." I casted a spell to put out the fire.

The flames disappeared before anything else caught on fire.

"So close and yet so far." A voice echoed.

"Quincy. I'm not crazy you heard that right?" I said.

"Yeah." He walked closer to me. "And why does her voice sound so familiar?"

"Because it's my cousin's voice." I said angrily.

"No way." He said.

"Come out, Violet! I know how much you love attention! You wouldn't dare hide in the dark."

"Dear cousin, who's hiding? I'm just having fun with my new powers." She laughed.

"You wouldn't have those powers if it wasn't for me. I can take them away just as easily."

"That's what you think. Don't you remember what happened to dear old Moon."

I flinched at the mention of her name.

"Leave my sister out of this." I growled.

Valentine and Circe wanted to control to take her down but I didn't let them.

"Levis mihi." I casted a spell that allowed my hands to glow with light.

I was able to see all around me but I still couldn't see Violet.

"You can't see me." She taunted.

"Just because you have powers does not mean you have experience."

"My mom taught me a few things."

"Quincy sniff her out." I told him quietly before raising my voice so Violet could hear me. "Aunt Hazel barely had enough experience either."

"You don't know what you are talking about." She said.

"You're getting angry."

"Yeah I am. You've seen me angry, you know it's not pretty."

"Like you. But we both know you can't do anything when you're angry."

"You don't know anything!"

"I know to keep you talking long enough so Quincy can sniff you out."

Quincy growled and attacked her.

She was invisible until Quincy pounced on her.

Quincy had her pinned down on the grass.

I walked up to her and crouched down next to her.

"Let me go!" She yelled at Quincy.

He growled and placed his paw on her neck so she couldn't move.

"Do not yell at him." I said to her. "See? You don't know how to use these powers."

"I can learn. Just like you did!"

"If only you would put that much effort into your school work. I'm sending you back to my mom's house."

"Why? Afraid of a fight?"

"What would be the point?"

"My revenge."

"What is your problem with me Violet? We are family."

"It's always about you, isn't it? You are the Hybrid! You are the most powerful!"

"It's not my fault I'm like this."

"My mom tried to make me a hybrid too, you know. But she couldn't find anybody."

"Poor, Aunt Hazel." I shook my head. "She was always a follower."

"How would you like me talking about your mother like that!?"

I stood up. "She is not my mother."

She struggled under Quincy's paws.

"Mitte illam redire." I casted a spell to send her back.

She disappeared in a puff of smoke.

"Come on Quincy, let's go back inside."
