I heard a caw as I was meditating.

I was outside my grandma's house sitting on the grass.

The caw was heard again but this time it was much closer.

I opened one eye and smiled when I saw a familiar hawk flying towards me.

I closed my eye and went back to meditating.

Another caw was heard but this time it was right in front of me.

I opened my eyes and saw the annoying hawk flying in front of my face.

I let out a small chuckle as I took the thick glove from her talons.

She landed on my arm that had the glove.

"Hey, Casey. How was hunting?" I asked her.

She cawed in response but thanks to my connection with nature in was able to understand her.

I put my other hand over my hand. "You make me so proud."

Once again she cawed in response.

Quincy growled. "How am I supposed to sleep with that bird yelling!?"

"Oh Come on Quince. It's nearly four in the afternoon and your napping?"

"Yes. Its what I do to make the time go by." He covered his ears with his paws.

I rolled my eyes and shook my head at him.

Quincy has grown a lot these past three months.

And his voice has gotten deeper.

He should be a full-grown wolf in about a month or less.

But until then I'm stuck with a lazy teenager.

"Come here Quincy, I want to try that animal changing spell again."

"Again!? Last time you tried that on me I was stuck as a duck for a week."

"Come on. I just want to try."

He groaned. "Fine."

Casey flew off my arm and landed on a log pretty far from me and Quincey.

I took off the glove and set it aside.

Quincy stood up and sat in front of me.

"Let's get this over with." He closed his eyes and looked at the ground.

My palms were facing him as I spread out my fingers.

I took a deep breath and casted the spelling.

"Hanc ego canis in rerum natura tendunt feline."

My hands were glowing and then the light traveled from my palms to Quincy.

The spell was supposed to turn him into a cat.

Anytime of cat since I wasn't specific with the spell.

Nothing happened.

Quincy opened his eyes and looked at me. "Am I still lovable and fluffy? In other words am I still a wolf?"

"Yeah. That spell didn't work again!" I said in frustration.

"Well maybe--" Before he could say anything there was a burst of light.

Coming from him.

It was only there for a second but when it was gone he was now a small house cat.

My eyes widened as I saw him change.

"Quincy the spell worked you are a cat!" I said with joy.

"Of course you had to turn me into a feline. You're so mean. Change me back."

I casted a reverse spell. "Convertere naeniam."

There was another burst of light and then Quincy was back to normal.

"I hated that." He mumbled.

Casey looked like she was laughing so hard she fell off the log.

All I could hear was squawking.

"Rosie the spell is wearing off. I can't understand Casey anymore." Said Quincy.

I casted the spell is had done many times before. "Et audire in animalibus sunt dicentes."

Soon Casey soon sounded like she was laughing.

"You got turned into the thing you hate most!" Casey flew over to us after she had recovered from laughing.

Quincy growled. "That's not true. I hate vegetables and you the most."

I love Quincy but sometimes he acts like a domesticated dog.

My grandma taught me a spell that allows me and other animals to communicate with each other.

It lasts about three weeks or so before I have to cast it again.

"Don't mess with me, dog! I could rip out your eyes if I wanted to!" Casey flew above his face.

Quincy growled. "I could tear you apart either way!"

Quincy tried to jump in the air to catch her but each time Casey flew a little higher.

"Enough arguing. Let's go back inside." I said.

I walked into the house with the two most annoying species in the world.

I closed the door behind me and changed back into my human form. "Forma humana."

I felt myself change back to normal.

"I really wish you didn't cut your hair. It looked better before." Quincy spoke while laying on his dog bed.

Yeah, I cut my hair a few weeks ago.

It's now an inch or two past shoulder length and I straightened it.

"I told you already, I like it short." I responded to him.

He rolled his eyes and laid his head down.

I felt something wrap around my ankle.

I looked down and saw Grandma's snake trying to climb my body.

"Hey Snake." I unwrapped him and put him around my neck.

Most of Grandma's animals have names but others just go by there animals names.

"Greetingsss Rosie." He greeted me. "How much longer til we can go outsssside."

"I think you're going to have to wait ten more minutes, Snake. And stop with the 's' thing. everyone knows you can talk normally."

"Aw." He whined in his normal voice. "But it's so much more fun talking like that."

"Your normal voice is fine." I put him back on the ground.

He slithered away.

I felt something tickling my ear.

I looked at my shoulder and saw four little mice sitting on my shoulder.

Our mice don't have names either.

We just refer to them as 'The Mice'

"Hey, guys."

They squeaked in response.

"Sorry but like I told Snake you have to wait ten more minutes."

They squeaked in frustration.

I held out my hands for them to walk on.

The rested on the palm of my hands.

I set them down on the ground.

Everyday Grandma lets out the animals at a certain time.

She lived in the middle of the forest.

She lets them all out so they don't become fully domesticated.

They can go out into the woods and do whatever they want.

Except eat each other.

They can eat other animals just not the animals they live with.

Everyone is let out at the same time and they each have five hours to play, or hunt or do whatever they want.

I felt something brush up against my legs.

I looked down and saw grandma's house cat.

"Sorry Cat, but you have to wait ten minutes just like everyone else."

She groaned. "Why do I even bother with the cute act?"

She walked away.

My grandma walked out of the kitchen and smiled.

"Grandma the animals are getting restless." I said.

"WellI guess there's no harm letting them out a little early."

"Alright lets, let them out."
