《The Last Hybrid》2-Fading

I opened the back and front door of the house and let the animals wonder outside.

I grabbed the lizard from her tank and set her on the grass outside.

She scurried off.

Then I grabbed the ferret from his cage and put him outside.

I also unlocked the two birds cages and set them free.

I grabbed the last two animals.

And hedgehog and a rabbit and placed them outside.

The rest of the animals left on their own

All the animals were gone except for Casey and Quincy.

"Aren't you two going out?" I asked them.

Casey ruffled her feathers. "I'm good. I already ate today."

Casey already went out today so it makes sense she didn't want to leave again.

"What about you Quincy? You haven't done anything all day."

"I don't feel like it. I'm tired." He responded.

"You're going to get fat. What kind of wolf are you?"

"A lazy one." He gave me and wolf smirk. "A prefer the sleeping over doing anything else."

"Go outside. You have to learn to hunt."

"Hey! I know how to hunt. I just prefer someone else doing it for me."

"Go!" I said.

He groaned and got up. "Fine!"

"Emo wolf." I mumbled.

"I heard that." He said as he stepped out of the house.

I sighed and sat on the couch.

My grandma sat next to me. "Did the meditation work?"

"A little." I answered. "I tried the animals changing spell again."

"Is Quincy a duck again?" She asked as she put her hand on her hip.

"No. Not this time. It worked."

"Then why the long face? What's the matter?"

"It worked just not immediately. It took a minute before it worked."

"That sounds pretty normal to me. Especially since it was a harder spell than you're used to."

"I know. But lately, it feels like much powers have been getting slower."

"Were you in your Witch form?"

"Yes, it didn't make much of a difference. Witch or human form."

"What do you mean?"

"I can't even grow fruit without it taking a minute or two. It used to happen immediately. Valentine and Circe don't even talk to me anymore."

"Are you sure they are completely gone?"

"No, I can feel them in the back of my head whispering to each other. But they never talk to me anymore."

"Honey." She grabbed my hand. "Are you sure this has nothing to do with you leaving your pack?"

"It's not my pack anymore." I stood up from my place on the couch. "They're better off without me."

"A pack is only as strong as their Luna and without a Luna, there is not pack."

I avoided eye contact. "They don't need me."

"How about after the animals get back you can go collect some ingredients for a potion I'm working on?"

"Alright. I need to get out of the house anyway."

"Until then, Let's go outside, its time for the next phase of your training."

"What is it about?" I asked.

"Healing and restoring."

"But I already learned that."

"You learned the basics, minor cuts, broken bones, and bruises, now its time for more fatal injuries."

"Alright."

She grabbed one of the many books on her shelf before we walked outside.

She casted a spell. "Aliquam convocabor quia magos educavi aperire arenam."

Soon everything around us disappeared and we were in our training arena.

It was large and similar to a coliseum.

Grandma says this used to be the place where witches would entertain the humans with tricks and magic and their animals.

Its were the idea of a circus came from.

Grandma casted another spell as she opened the book. "Hoc instituendi sem. A confodere vulnus."

A bunch of tiny particles flew out of her hand and went to the ground in front of me.

They came together and created and man with a wound on his stomach.

"Please, help me." The man said weakly.

Our training exercises are meant to seem as realistic as possible.

And this one seemed very real.

"Forma pythonissam." I changed into my witch form.

"In this first one you will be attending someone with a stab wound." My grandma instructed me.

I went to my knees next to the man.

"This man has been stabbed multiple times and by the time help gets here it will be too late."

I nodded as she continued to instruct me.

"Repeat after me and focus your magic on the biggest wound,

Ad sanandum vulnus, et dant vitam redire. "

I lifted up the man's shirt and placed my hands on the biggest stab wound.

"Ad sanandum vulnus, et dant vitam redire."

My hands were glowing bright but it faded quickly.

I took a deep breath and tried again. "Ad sanandum vulnus, et dant vitam redire."

My hands were glowing again.

I removed my hands from the wound and it was healed.

I smiled until the man screamed out in pain.

The wound was forming again.

And it was a lot bigger this time.

"Id sem delere orbem rigidum." My grandma casted another spell.

The man turned back into little particles and disappeared.

I groaned in frustration. "Forma humana." I changed back into my human form.

"Ut ad nos in realem mundi." My grandma casted a spell.

That spell made everything around us disappear and took us back to the house.

"Grandma, there is something wrong with my powers! "

"Its normal not to succeed a spell on the first try."

"I know that! But it feels like my powers are..." I trailed off.

"Are what, sweetie?" She put a hand on my shoulder.

"Fading."

"Well maybe it's time." She removed her hand.

"Time for what!?" I asked.

"Maybe its time for you to for back to your pack. I bet they miss you."

"No!" I crossed my arms over my chest and turned away. "I caused nothing but trouble."

"Don't you miss your dad? Archie? David? Jonathan?"

At the mention of Jonathan's name made me flinch.

I bit my lip to stop myself from crying.

"He'll find a new mate." I breathed out.

"You only get one. And its almost impossible to find a new one to love."

I sighed and faced her again. "Its been three months grandma. I know you can't forget about someone overnight but I know his feelings have faded by now."

"And what if he hasn't?"

"Then... I don't know." I shrugged.

"Hey, how about we make homemade pizza tonight and watch a movie with the animals? It'll be fun."

I nodded. "Let's do it."

"Ok." She began to walk back inside until I stopped her.

"Grandma?" I spoke.

"Yes!"

"I-I think I going to go for a walk. I haven't been in my wolf form in a while." I said.

"Go ahead. Take all the time you need."

"Thank you." I smiled.

She smiled back and walked into the house.

I took a deep breath and changed into my wolf. "Forma lupus."

Once I felt myself on for paws instead of legs I ran into the forest.

I needed to take my mind off of everything and everyone.

The memory of Jonathan was permanently tattooed in the back of my mind.
