*Melanie's POV*

It's funny how love works. Especially in my world. We're assigned some one to love and cherish forever. My brother says that I'll find some one eventually, but I've given up at this point. I've been alive for 194 years and yet I have not found my mate. My love. My reason to live....

Currently, I am sitting in my windowsill. I was watching the rain fall from the clouds. The rain has always relaxed me since I was a child. Someone knocked on my door, I knew it was my brother. "Come in." I called to him.

He opened the door. "Pack up, we're visiting an old friend of ours." He said.

I looked at him curiously. "Old friend?" I asked. "Who?"

"You'll see, just pack. We will be leaving in an hour." He walked out of my room.

I looked out the window and sighed. I got up and grabbed a suitcase out of my closet. I packed the essentials like clothes, shoes, etc. Once I was done, I went downstairs to see that my coven was sitting in the living room. My coven isn't that big, it's only four people. We have my brother, David, and his mate, Clarisse. Then we have Josie, she was the youngest only being turned 55 years ago at the age of 15. And then we have me, Melanie. We all looked different except for our eyes. We all have golden eyes. I sat next to Clarisse, who was reading. "Hello Clarrise." I greeted her.

"Bonjour." She greeted in her French accent. Before she was turned, she lived her days in Paris, France. It was around the time they were building the Eiffel Tower. She was turned before she could see it finished. Once she was turned, she woke up in America. To say she was confused was an understatement. She told me how she felt; confused, angry, sad, but the most overbearing feeling was the hunger in her throat. She remembers her first attack, it was a hiker. She scratched his leg and it caused him to bleed. She followed the scent of his blood and immediately attacked when she found him. She felt immensely guilty after that. She turned to the "vegetarian" lifestyle thanks to a coven in Alaska. She found us years later and her and my brother immediately clicked. We soon started our own coven.

"Do you know why we're leaving?" I asked her.

She shook her head. "Not even David will tell me." She explained.

I nodded. "He said that it's an old friend of ours."

"Well you two have lots of friends." She pointed out.

"True."

"I don't wanna leave!" Josie protested, her southern accent coming out. She never liked moving.

"It will be okay Josie. After all, we won't be staying away forever." I nodded in agreements

"Ugh." Josie groaned. Josie is a young black girl who was turned in 1953. She was visiting New York to visit her cousin, she was originally from Louisiana. And a couple of privileged little racist people hire boys decided it would be fun to jump her. My brother was the one to find and turn her, he says it took a lot of strength to let go before he could completely kill her but he did it. When she came home, she was a bit shy at first but after a week or two we were immediately best friends. She's was the second person I told that I was gay. She took it well. The only other person that knows is my brother and Clarisse. She also has the power to control fire which I think is neat.

An hour passed, Josie still complaining, and we eventually had to go. David was driving, Clarisse sat in the passenger seat. Josie and I sat in the back. "Are we ready?" David asked.

We all nodded and we left. He was going the speed limit through town but immediately sped up once we were out of society. It took us about 5 hours until we got to a place called Forks. It was dark and gloomy. It was raining also, which I didn't mind. Like I said earlier, I like the rain. It was calming. We eventually pulled in at a house. It was big. "Wowza, whoever lives here must be loaded." Josie commented, making us laugh a bit. We all got out and walked to the door. David knocked and a girl with blonde hair opened the door.

"Who are you?" She asked. She kinda reminded me of a Barbie doll, blonde hair with a perfect figure. So not my type....

"Carlisle invited us here." David answered. I tensed and glared at him from behind. If I knew Carlisle was going to be here I would have never agreed to come. It's not that I don't like Carlisle, it's just last time we interacted with each other it didn't go so well...

Barbie nodded at us and opened the door so we could come in. We walked in the house, Josie gave am impressed whistle. "Man, this place is fancy-smanchy." I rolled my eyes amused.

"Well look who it is!" A voice called out to us. "It's my favorite brother and sister duo!"
