《Naruto The Shinobi Hunter》Chapter 17

Naruto slowly woke up to the sound of someone softly snoring in his ear. Opening his eyes, he tried to stretch, only to find that he couldn't move. Blinking a few times, Naruto felt someone hugging him tightly and turned his head to find his mother had wrapped her arms around him in a tight bear hug with orange-glowing chains. Taking a few seconds to realize the situation he was in, he took a deep breath and shouted: "MOM! WAKE THE HELL UP!", causing Kushina to jump and release Naruto. Soon after releasing Naruto, Kushina fell off the bed, hitting her head on the floor, "Owie," Kushina whispered as Naruto rolled over and looked down at his mother
"You got something to say?" Naruto asked
"What the hell was that for?!" Kushina shouted
"WHY THE HELL WHERE YOU HUGGING ME LIKE SOME SORTA BODY-PILLOW?!" Naruto screamed back
"DON'T SHOUT AT ME!"
"YOU'RE THE ONE THAT STARTED IT!" Naruto explained, pointing at her. But before Kushina could say anything more, the bedroom door slammed open to reveal Minato with his face covered in dried blood, "What's going on?!" Minato screamed, looking at them. They looked back as Minato raised an eyebrow, "What? Something on my face?"
"You know what? I'm done. I'm going for a walk," Naruto said as he got out of bed, still wearing his pajama's
"Naruto, wait!" Kushina reached out for him, but Naruto was already out the door.
Naruto walked around the village, agitated at the morning events, "Stupid mom, stupid dad. It's too early for this shit," he whispered as someone appeared in front of him
"Heya brat, how's it goin'?" a voice asked as Naruto looked up and saw Tsume standing in front of him with a few strips of bacon in her hand

"Tsume-san?" Naruto asked, "What are you doing here?"
"Needed to get away from the house for a while... bacon?" Tsume extended her arm to give Naruto some bacon. Naruto grabbed a piece and started eating it, "Pepper?"
"Yup, pretty good, huh?"
"Very,"
"That's nice... so, what are you doing out by yourself? Where are your parents?" Tsumae questioned. Naruto rolled his eye while chewing his bacon, "Too early to deal with them. I decided to go on a walk," he replied
"Phhh, that's not an excuse to go out alone. Come on, I'll take you home," Tsume said, eating that last of her bacon and grabbing Naruto's open hand. Naruto was surprised by this action, being dragged back home by Tsume, "What are you doing?"
"I'm taking you back to your parents,"
"But why?"
"Let me make this easy for you... be glad it's me and not someone else," Tsume explained as she dragged Naruto.
"Thank-you, Tsume. For bringing back my son," Kushina bowed, thanking Tsume
"It's nothing, Kushina. But... I've got another reason to come here," Tsume explained as she looked down at Naruto
"Really? What is it?"
"It's about Rogi," Tsume answered. Naruto felt the hair on the back of his neck stand up. His body tensed as the adults continued talking, "What does he have to do with my son?" Kushina questioned
"Naruto came back with Jomari. Jomari was last seen with Rogi. Naruto and Jomari are probably the only two who knows what happened to him,"
"What did happen?"
"Rogi was murdered," Tsume dead-panned. Kushina's eyes widened as she took a step between Tsume and Naruto, "Are you suggesting that Naruto killed him?"
"What?! No! What would make you say such a thing?! I need to ask him a couple of questions."

"Over my dead body! Where's Jomari?!" Kushina questioned as she turned around to look down at her son, "Naruto. Go get Jomari,"
"Fine," Naruto whispered, agitated as he walked to the backyard.
Jomari sat next to the small fountain with a pool in front of it. A few Koi Fish swam in the water as he heard someone coming up behind him. Lifting up his head, he saw Naruto walking toward him. Jomari's ears stood up, his eyes widened and his body began to shake... his mind going back to that night. That, night. He started whimpering as Naruto stood over him and started petting him, "Stop whimpering, I'm not gonna hurt you. You're too nice for that," Naruto said as he then picked Jomari off of the ground.
Naruto stood in front of Tsume, holding Jomari as the ladder looked up at her, "BARK!"
"Nice to see you too, Jomari," Tsume said, scratching his head. Naruto set Jomari on the ground, the ladder standing up and quickly moving to Tsume's side, "Anything else, Tsume?" Kushina asked
"No, that'll be all. We'll be leaving now," Tsume replied, bowing, "have a nice day." Tsume and Jomari then left the Namikaze Compound. Kushina closed the front door as she turned around and looked at her son, who had his arms crossed, "We've got a lot to talk about young man,"
Tsume was sitting with Kuromaru as Jomari was eating a combination and rice, chicken, and hashbrowns,
"Thank-you, Tsume-sama. I don't know what to say," Jomari said, finishing his food
"It's nothing, Jomari. But... can you tell me what happened?" Tsume asked
"Hm?"
"The day you and Naruto came back, Jomari. What happened to Rogi?" Kuromaru questioned. After Kuromaru uttered those words, Jomari froze. Tsume and Kuromaru noticed this as Jomari started shaking, "P-please, d-don't make me remember," Jomari begged
"Excuse you?" Kuromaru said
"That night... that night... I've seen some things, but that... please, don't make me remember," Jomari begged, lowering his body to the ground and covering his eyes with his paws
"Jomari, what did you see?" Tsume knelt down, scratching Jomari behind the ear. Tsume felt Jomari shaking like a new-born puppy, scared and frightened at the slightest touch, "Y-you really want to know?" Jomari replied
"Please," Tsume cooed. Jomari looked up at Tsume as he said: "I saw a monster,"
"A monster?" Kuromaru tilted his head
"A monster," Jomari repeated, remembering what Naruto looked like
"A monster killed Rogi?"
"Yes... after Rogi killed... after Rogi killed... Naruto," Jomari whispered
"Rogi killed Naruto? What are you talking about, Naruto's still alive!" Tsume shouted
"No! Yes? I-I don't know! I-I tried to stop Rogi, but he tossed me to the side. A-After Rogi beat Naruto, I heard Naruto's heart stop and then... and then... he came back from the dead. Like a zombie! A monster! You saw it too, didn't you?!" Jomari shouted, looking desperately into Tsume's eyes. Tsume thought about it for a few minutes before she remembered something off about Naruto when he came back. It was then that something crossed her mind, 'Rogi killed Naruto. Naruto comes back from the dead. Naruto kills Rogi. But that doesn't make sense. Naruto's alive and people don't come back from the dead... unless,' Tsume thought to herself and then shook her head, "No, that's stupid. Naruto a monster? A demon? Bah, that's stupid... but with Naruto being around his siblings... maybe some of the Kyuubi's chakra leaked out?"
"Mind telling me what you're muttering about?" Kuromaru questioned
"Nothing, just something stupid," Tsume answered, "thank-you, Jomari. Have a nice night,"

Edge Cases (Book 1 Complete!)
Rare classes and powerful skills are helpful. Too bad the system doesn't seem built to handle them. What even are all these errors? Our team of outcasts and adventurers will have to rely on their trust - and the bane of all stories, healthy communication - just to survive, let alone understand what the system is doing. Because they're quickly realizing that it's doing something; to people, to monsters, and maybe even to the gods themselves. And their goal isn't just to survive; it's to make things better. It's a good thing they're not doing it alone. --- Edge Cases is an attempt to take the LitRPG genre and the overpowered MCs trope and write a story where numbers aren't everything. Sometimes it takes trust, support, and just a touch of being very, very clever. Expect a mix of action, slice-of-life, friendship, and ominous worldbuilding. Updates M-W-F at 6pm EST. Cover art by Alovck of Artstation, and typesetting by jessessey right here on RoyalRoad.

Dungeon Core Chat Room.
This is a slower-paced "experiment and dungeon building" web novel that tries to use the idea of peer-to-peer communication with Dungeon Cores instead of Dungeon to slave monster communication to break up the detailed dungeon building. Rank 1 description: (minimum met for system initialization...detailed description as follows) Each race was given a system by the gods to make up for their shortcomings and balance their place in this world. Humans: Abysmally bad at understanding and using magic unable to use more than the lowest of magic were given the "Skill System" magic in the form of premade skills with use, study, and mastery tied to experience. Elves: Intuitively understand magic and have long lives leading to vast knowledge and skill in their chosen fields. However, as a species, they have nearly zero sex drive and less than low fertility, so they were gifted the "World Tree System" with experience gained through the care of natural areas – gifting the chance of children to increase their numbers without dirty copulation. All “natural” or “wild” monsters are given an "Evolution system" designed around killing and consuming as many creatures as possible, slowly increasing strength and, at thresholds, allowing mutations to alter them multiple times. Dungeon cores are different. Unlike humans, they can see, manipulate and live off mana. Unlike Elves, they naturally crystallize after extended periods of time in high mana level areas. However, they cannot easily move or communicate and typically go insane without companionship. As a species other than the odd eccentric they are unimaginative. Brute forcing solutions without the drive to truly innovate. Thus they have been gifted with the "Dungeon Connection System" a magical version of the internet accessible by their peers that allows them to barter and sell: bait, traps, monsters, and knowledge, as well as entertain each other with “adventure streams” using exciting recorded battles and humorous reels of arrogant chumps biting off more than they can chew to often fatal effects. This is the casual story of a dungeon unluckily spawned far from potential adventurers forced to innovate beyond its peers to find its place in this world. Rank 2 Description: Justification. I've been on a dungeon core kick for months and while I love the genre – it's sparse with entries. Often the forced conflict gets repetitive and frantic solving of threats "power levels" the protagonist to god levels to progress the plot – taking away the nice steady progression fantasy I'm looking for. (Progression in this story is linked to how strong of monsters/traps/whatever he can create not his "level"...this is demonstrated by some of his newer monsters beating his older monsters not with discrete "this monster has 10 attack this one has 40") Additionally, the focus on 3rd parties with their drama takes away from the reason I’m reading dungeon core novels in the first place – I'm looking for magical crafting, experimentation and kingdom building – not defence from higher and higher levelled enemies looking to steal/destroy/control the MC. This novel is kind of just me writing the story I wish I could read. I like thinking about the experimentation that can be done in fantasy settings using 'mana' as an excuse to make up rules and try to keep them internally consistent. IE once I define how a rule works, I'm going to commit to keeping it – no breaking hard truths I've given when it's convenient, even if it backs me into a corner. Hopefully, that should make the story interesting to read even if it's SOL and less action-oriented. There will be problems to solve and a clear progression in strength (of created monsters and knowledge) however due to not wanting to force conflict for the sake of conflict the general theme will be closer to slice of life with few action sequences and no overarching goal so please keep that in mind when picking this up as the genre is not for everyone. Finally, I have a clear goal of what I want from this story (not an endless romp but a series of arcs and then a conclusion that's a couple of dozen medium-sized chapters long) I want to commit to finishing it or at least bringing it to a point of rest. I hate all the engaging stories that stop with a “hiatus” indefinitely so in the event I lose motivation I'll work to end this even if the ending becomes rushed/unsatisfying just to give a sense of closure. I’m planning on including several polls in terms of direction and taking feedback heavily into account if I get enough readers (but may choose to ignore it if it deviates too far from the direction I want to take this as in feedback like: “The MC needs a cartoonishly evil arch-enemy that wants to enslave him and force the mc to pump out magic items” or “the MC needs to make a body and learn teleportation then live with humans” will get shot down without consideration.)

And yes, the MC's get some pretty OP skills and weapons.... At least until they find the enemy...
