We pulled away from the hug and smiled at eachother.
"What was that you wanted to tell me earlier?" Dad asked.
I looked over at Dad and my eyes widened in realization.
Carlos!
I forgot to introduce him to Dad!
Well, Dad and Mom and my half sister Jane now.
"Oh! I want you to meet som--"
I looked over to where the VK's were earlier with a smile, but it only disappeared when I didn't see them.
I saw the four of them walk away from the croquet field, where Ben was trying to convince Audrey's grandmother and the other families about something.
"Uh, could you excuse me?" I said to my family and they nodded.
I quickly followed after the VK's and saw them at one of the outdoor tables.
I sat between Carlos and Evie, wrapping Carlos' arm around my shoulder in the process.
We both looked at eachother and smiled.
I didn't asked them what was wrong knowing by the look they had that I should give them some other kind of space.
I grabbed Mal and Evie's hands as a reassuring gesture.
They gave me both small smiles as I pulled my hands back.
"Hey, guys! How is everyone?"
I looked at Ben as nobody answered him.
"Hey, listen." He started, putting a hand on Jay's shoulder.
"Forget about it alright? It was nothing. Forget about it, let it go."
Ben nervously laughed, trying to lighten up the mood.
"Tomorrow, after the coronation, I promise everything will be okay." Ben said and he leaned next to Mal's ear to whisper something.
He then straightened his body and said, "I'll see you guys later."
With that, Ben left.
Doug then walked over to the table.
"Listen, Evie. I want to talk about earlier--"

"Doug!" Chad called, interrupting him.
"It's my fault, Doug." Evie started but Chad called him again.
Doug looked between him and Evie, not knowing who to pick.
"I'm so sorry." She apologized.
Chad called once again.
"What?" Doug now turned to look at him.
"Doug..." Evie trailed off, her eyes sad.
"I'm sorry, I can't." He said and walked to the table where Chad is.
I saw Audrey and Jane walk behind Mal.
That Jane! Doesn't even know how to thank Mal for the hair she gave her, so much for Fairy Godmother's daughter.
"How long does she think that's gonna last?" Audrey 'asked' Jane, making her laugh.
"Mal's just a bad girl infatuation." Audrey added.
Jane replied with, "Yeah. I mean, he's never gonna make a villain a queen."
I rolled my eyes at them.
Does she really think that the popular kids would like her if her hair doesn't look like that?
I felt a hand grab mine, making me turn to Carlos who was giving me a 'don't-be-mean' look.
I exhaled and just watched what Mal will do.
The two walked away as they laughed, all of us cautiously looked at Mal.
She opened her spell book and said, "Beware, forswear, undo Jane's hair."
We heard Jane scream as the girls laughed at her.
Told ya!
The five of us stood up and looked at them.
"There's a lot more where that came from." Mal said, looking at them with a blank expression.
"Excuse me, who do you think you are?" Audrey asked, not scared at her and put her hand on her hip.
"Do I look like I'm kidding?" Mal remarked, making Audrey's smirk disappear.
She searched her spell book and they ran off.

Mal sighed and looked at us.
"I'm really looking forward to tomorrow."
She closed her book and smirked.
"(Y/N), you're with us now."
My eyes widened as I looked at them.
Evie, Jay, and Mal had a smile but Carlos had a frown.
"Let's grab that wand and blow this popsicle stand."
Mal walked away, followed by us.
Carlos held my hand, tracing circles on the back of it.
When we got to the dorms, Carlos made me stop from walking towards my room.
"You know, you don't need to join us. I don't want you to get hurt, or rejected by your new family."
"You heard?" I asked him, he then nodded.
I sighed and wrapped my arms around his neck.
"I want to join you guys and I'm not gonna get hurt. I'm tougher than you think."
The both of us chuckled.
He cupped my cheek as he smiled sweetly.
"I love you, (Y/N)."
I smiled also.
"I love you too, Carlos."
He leaned in and I closed the gap between us.
We parted for air and I placed my forehead on his.
"Will you be my girlfriend?" He asked as his grip around my waist tightened.
"Let me think, hmm..."
I put my finger under my chin as if I was thinking, he laughed at this.
"Of course!"
I laughed and kissed his lips passionately.
"Now, answer my question." I said as I pulled away from his body, sliding my hands on his arms to grab his hands.
"Ask away, m'lady."
The both of us laughed again.
I stopped laughing and smiled at him.
"Would you like to be my date at the coronation?"
"Let me think..."
He copied what I did earlier, making me playfully hit his arm.
"Of course!" He said in a girly voice while I shook my head with a smile.
"See you tomorrow." I said as I grabbed the door knob to my dorm room.
"Yeah, see you."
He grabbed my hand and kissed the back of it, reminding me of something...
I tried to hide my frown as he walked away to his dorm and quickly walked in.
"So, you and Carlos now, huh?"
I looked up to see Faith standing infront of me with her arms crossed.
I shyly nodded.
"Yeah."
She suddenly squealed and jumped, surprising me with her action.
I laughed as she grabbed my hands and made me jump with her.
We squealed together as if we were little girls again.
I can't wait to see what will happen tomorrow!

Dungeon Scholar
Girl meets dungeon. What could go right? A story of a good-hearted Scholar driven by her compassion and curiosity. She might be a little combat averse, but um, isn't that only logical? Love me a good grimdark, but sometimes I want to read feel-good fiction that isn't pure action, romance, or comedy. The plot and characters of Dungeon Scholar won't be all happy and fluffy, and the world will be more dungeons and monsters than rainbows and puppies, but overall the sweet moments should overshadow the bitter. Let's say three dollops of sugar for every pinch of salt, with lemon slices left on the saucers? Enjoy. Note: This is NOT a typical dungeon story. If you are here for the dungeon aspect, then fair warning this will seem incredibly slow-burn to you. The dungeon will eventually become the most important 'character,' arguably, or the second-most important narratively, but you might jump out the window in frustration long before that happens. At its heart, the story's core remains 'girl meets dungeon,' not 'dungeon meets world.' (To be clear, this does or will have a plot! It's just the more conventional story-like elements contribute to Rowena Loress's greater story, not the other way around; no conflict takes center stage until it becomes personally significant to her. Meanwhile, have some Slice of Life.) Updates every Friday Cover made using Waifulabs Written using 4thewords (referral code: UZJRY55368)

Infested
One billion people from one hundred thousand universes have been dropped onto a singular planet five times larger than Earth. In the corner of their eye were three numbers: 1,000,000,000. 15. 10. Nobody could figure out what it meant until fifteen years after the initial transportation, as out of the blue, a message repeated itself in their minds for twenty-four hours. “Only ten can return. The rest will die. There is no time limit,” Following the global message, genocides ran rampant, with established friendships broken, families ripped apart, blood alliances betrayed, and leaders felled in seconds. How? [The Evgnomon] The Beholden; hidden throughout the realm were artefacts: weapons, information, tools from beings and societies of a higher plane. It was up to the humans to scour the land and take them by hook or by crook if they ever wished to go back. Whisked into this world as a mere babe, I suppose it was lucky I didn’t die in the chaos. But as I stare into the rotten, tattered pages of the accursed book laid upon the pedestal in front of me; and the unnerving gaze of our professor trained onto the back of my head silently pressuring me to become the avatar of grotesques unspeakable and undecipherable to the human mind. O, how I wish I did...
