《Accidentally Adopted by iBallisticSquid》The Park

Izzy's PoV:
I walked out the driveway and walked out onto the pavement. I then realised I had no idea where Squid's house was and even if I did, he might not still be there as there was a fire. Would he even want me to be there? I turned around and looked back at the home. I thought about just forgetting it and going back but then I saw Craig walk out followed by his gang. "Oi." Craig yelled and he started running towards me. I sprinted in the general direction of Squid's house. I did have a general idea of where it was but once I got out of town and on to the residential streets I had no idea. I looked behind me and instantly wished I hadn't, Craig was right behind me with the rest of the boys from his gang behind him. I had to find a way to slow him down or he would catch up. I could see a park and a idea formed in my head. I would have to time it perfectly and most likely it wouldn't work but it was worth a shot. I ran into the park and spotted what I was looking for: a owner throwing a ball for their dog. I ran towards them as they threw the ball. The dog was a Labrador which was perfect. I saw the ball hit the ground and I ran straight for it. My plan was to pick the ball up from the ground. I was too close though, that wouldn't work. I looked to the side and saw the dog was very close so, instead, I lept over the ball and I heard a thud behind me then a yell of outrage. Although that wasn't my original plan it sounded like it worked. I looked over my shoulder and I could see Craig getting up and giving chase a again, only now he was slower and much further behind. This was only a small victory though as I was getting tired and soon I wouldn't be able to run anymore. I ran to the other side of the park and started to run along the fence. I made it to the corner and turned. I continued running up the side of the park and in front of me were two teenage girls, as I got closer I realised they looked familia. Suddenly it dawned on me who they were but it was too late, I ran too close and they grabbed me. They were the other members of Craig's gang. "Cheers girls! He said. Running up to them as two other members of his gang grabbed me and pulled me backwards. Craig kissed his girlfriend then turned to me. "Let's take this somewhere else, huh." He said gesturing to the two guys holding me to follow them. We walked behind the building that was in the corner of the park where he pushed me against the wall. He slapped me in the face and then dropped me so I fell to the floor. He was about to punch me when I heard a shout. I recognised the voice. It was Sqaishey, I could see her running towards me followed by two other women. Nicole and Amy. I looked at Craig's shocked face and then to Nicole. "I will call the police unless you leave." Sqaishey said as Amy came up behind her. "Come on guys. Let's go." Craig said running past Sqaishey but making sure that he bumped her as he passed. Nicole walked up to me. "Izzy?" I couldn't help it, I started to cry and stood up and hugged her. I wasn't expecting her to hug back, but she did. I let go as Sqaishey and Amy came up behind me and Nicole explained who I was and how she knew me. Amy hugged me out of sympathy and when she let go I turned to Sqaishey. "Thank you. For stopping them." I said to her through me tears. "No problem. Nicole, is it ok if she comes back with us." She said turning to Nicole. "Yeah that's fine. I'm sure Squid will be happy." It felt like a massive weight had been lifted the off my shoulders, Squid did like me!

I felt a warm feeling on my hand and I looked down to see Marley licking my hand. I hadn't realised till now that Lilly and Marley were here. I gave Marley a stroke as Nicole put him on his lead and Amy put Lilly on hers. Sqaishey still had her arm around me and we walked off towards Squids house.

Of Frost and Steel
After being kicked out of home by her own parents, Emily found herself living in the house of an old woman while working as a plumber to help pay the bills. Her slightly unusual but still very normal life came to an abrupt end one day when an incoming car crashed into hers. When she next opened her eyes, she found no ambulance or hospital room waiting for her. What she found were instead the faces of beings much larger than her who were not entirely human, and the opportunity to live a new life, free of her old one. WARNING: This fiction is dedicated to a friend of mine who spent twelve years of her life hiding who she was because she feared the reaction of her family. For this reason it contains LGBT themes, although they won't be the sole or main focus of the story. The story contains sexual themes, but I will try to keep them to a minimum or make them "fade to black". Chapters will be around 1000 words long and without a fixed release schedule, for the moment.

NEWDIE STEADSLAW Part I
NEWDIE STEADSLAW is a randomized array of Chekhov's red herrings, non sequitors ex machina, run-on sentences, and em dashes—so many em dashes. It's like if the Bible and Shakespeare had a baby that they surrendered to foster care, then it got adopted by Alice in Wonderland and Dr. Seuss—the books, not the people—and then the baby fell down the stairs. In this metaphor, the stairs wrote the story. Part I is the tale of the adventures of Traycup and Roby as they try to hold down a job inside the hollow Earth—a place made possible thanks to the secret science of embargoed relativity—and they get distracted by dancing foxes, a giant's record collection, and something with a train, I think. It's a work of fiction—although to call it work seems insulting to, y'know, actual work—but the fiction label is apt, so, y'know, that's a win. Half the words are made up, and the other half are embarrassed to be seen with them. Part I is complete.

Escape
Nathaniel has used what money he had to buy a VR cocoon and to pay off the next few months' worth of bills. He has two ways to move forward in life- to find a new job, or to hope that he can make enough money playing Final Escape to feed his meager, human body. He has rolled randomly, as only a fool would do, and finds himself playing a Kobold magus who wields the power of life itself. Hopefully, his role-playing is entertaining enough to generate revenue, because the game is changing his real self... or else, his real self is changing the human-shaped shell he used to wear.

Campaign: A Project Starfarer Sidestory
This novel’s lore, story and characters are entirely fictitious. Certain long-standing countries, institutions, organizations, agencies, and public offices are mentioned, but their histories and the characters involved are wholly imaginary. "What will you do with your freedom?"Growing up in a meritocracy, infamous for being lawless, Jordan Astros had been repeatedly asked this question, since times unmemorable. In a society where one's accomplishments and skills were tallied and ranked in order to determine one's standard of living however, Jordan quickly grew to understand that 'freedom,' was a reward earned by accumulating Merit. And so, after his 17th birthday, Jordan departed his Clan's habitat in orbit of Europa to embark on his century-long journey to rise from E-Ranker to S-Rank. And spread his name throughout the Galilean Powers. *** Campaign is a sidestory within its NanoPunk parent series, Project Starfarer. (Yet to be published. Be on the lookout for it!) In which the first transhuman known to humanity, the Starfarer, invokes a plan to seed terrestrial life throughout the galaxy. Campaign takes place around the middle of that timeline and explores the life of a key figure in that universe, Jordan Astros. And explores one of four great nations thriving in the Solar System during that time. A Meritocracy that spans Jupiter and its 79 moons, The Galilean Powers. What you'll find in Campaign: Brutal melee combat in airless and pressurized low gravity environments. A technology based progression system influenced by merit and accomplishments; using tech that's theoretically possible to exist in the near-future. An exploratory perspective of the dozens of Galilean societies, or 'Powers,' from Jordans; and sometimes others', POV. What you wont find: Romance. Harems. An MC who receives shortcuts, handouts, learns things unnaturally fast or has OP plot armor. Jordan is not a special individual. Jordan is not OP and he likely never will be. He's no different than any other citizen in the Galilean Powers and will certainly face as many defeats as he does wins. He'll suffer losses and grow as an individual, while the Powers evolves around him as well. This is semi-hard sci-fi/NanoPunk and takes place in a fictional version of our future solar system. Centered around technology that's plausible in the near-centuries to come. Everything abides by the laws of physics/thermodynamics (As best that I understand them, at least. I'm no scientist.) No artificial gravity, inertial dampeners, teleportation, FTL, or hand-wavy materials will be found in the Project Starfarer universe. Just advanced automation, nanotechnology, cybernetics and AI. Set in the backdrop of space. *I do not own the photo used for the cover*
