As a child I didn't know what the world would be or who would be responsible for guiding me.

My mom told me it takes a village to raise a child

Not knowing exactly what that meant

How could you possibly expect anyone else outside of my parents to raise me

Well ya see it started like this

I entered a church and they were just like family...

I mean hesitant at first but everyone soon became uncle and auntie

I saw strangers help take care of me

Mommy remember when no one could babysit and we stayed at the shop all day?

Well that changed when blood wasn't a factor and those who could helped with our happily ever after

Ma remember when every shop was family and from the driers to the shampoo bowls were aunties?

As everyone took the time to become clients of mine to do hand massages...

See then even in school there was always a teacher who was looking out for you ?

Mommy remember when Thursday night was teacher night and my school family became my shop family

Mommy remember when I got stuck at school and before you could get in the car someone would already say they are on the way?

Mama remember?

Ma do you remember when I won that video contest and I talked about my favorite place was at the hair salon?

Remember when you said it's too much and one of my thousand of aunt's were there to wipe the tears from your face?

Mommy you taught me that family isn't defined by DNA but by those whose there beyond your time of need

Well mommy is almost that time for me to turn into a butterfly thank you for giving me a family!
