《His Butterfly》Chapter 6

Amara smiled in spite of the pain in her heart. She shook her hands with Ric and the moment his hand touched her she felt the familiar butterflies in her belly. She laughed making excuses that she got startled by their sudden appearance. She couldn’t help herself but envy Leah. She was the girl for whom he had left her. She picked herself before she could fall in front of him. Showing them the designs she looked at him. He has changed from the last time she had seen him. His beard being the new addition in his looks. His casual jeans and t-shirts were now placed with tailored suits. Having a moment to herself she took this as a challenge to get over him. Maybe this was for the best. If she sees him getting married to someone else then maybe she can also have her happily ever after. She smiled internally at the thought.
“ Leah, I have already started working on your gown. And if Mr. Black have any specifications or any personal preference he could tell us. We will make sure it’ll be as per your wishes.”
She felt proud of herself as her voice remained strong even cheerful
“ Baby, you heard her, tell us do you have any personal preference?”
“Baby are you listening?”
Richard’s eyes were fixed on the girl whom he have loved for the past seven years. Three years in relationship with her was probably the best time of his life. Last four years he died every second being away from her. He was never unfaithful to her. He always respected her even when not together. His butterfly was standing in front of him smiling as she asked him to choose the design of his tux. Has she truly forgotten each moments they lived with each other? She looked more beautiful now. Her blue eyes had some different emotions other than love. She had always looked at him with eyes filled with love. All the things he said her last time he had seen her came back to him knocking his breath out of him. She hated him. This thought made him nauseous.

Leah snapped her fingers in front of him making him come back to reality.
“Are you okay Richie, I’ve been asking you the same question for the past two minutes.”
“Yes darling I’m fine. Just thinking about how beautiful we will look together.” He kissed her temple shocking everyone in the room. He only did it to find if it would irk Amara, see if she got jealous. Maybe it’ll be best if he gets out from here.
Amara felt like puking out her breakfast as his display of affection. As if getting married to her wasn’t enough display of his life. But she wasn’t going to allow it to affect her. She was more stronger than he thinks.
“Aww look at you two. You guys are made for each other. Seriously you look perfect together. So back to the designs?”
She had a sickening fake smile plastered on her lips. It was quite opposite to what she was feeling. She was never the one to have a jealous nature but he always brought out the best and worst part of her. Its stupid. She smiled on the above but she was crumbling down inside.
“Leah why don’t you decide it for yourself. I just got a message. I’ve some important work. You can come back home with Noah"
Before Leah could object he was out of the door. He couldn’t deal with his impulsive behavior. He knew if he would be there he will hurt her unintentionally. And he could never hurt her. They are like the clouds and sunlight, together but as apart as one can be. Fate had played such a cruel game destroying his chances of a happy life.
Amara saw him rushing out the room. She thought he left because she impulses him. All of his jokes and laughs were fake. His promises were another lie. But still her heart wasn’t ready to believe he was unfaithful. Her faith in him never grew any less. Though she hated him but some part of her believed in him.

Handling the designs to Anna she asked her to carry on with the presentation. Excusing herself, she went to take a breath of fresh air and maybe a cup of iced tea. As she reached the parking area she saw him smoking a cigarette. Leaning beside some hotshot car, he stood cross legged.
Engrossed in his pity party he didn’t saw her standing beside her.
“You took four years in marrying her and here I was thinking you would’ve already married, maybe had some kids, you know settled down.”
“I didn’t knew you were so weak in biology. One doesn’t need to get married have kids.”
“Oh..Congratulations..umm..its a girl or a boy?”
“ We don’t have kids Amara. And you shouldn’t be here first of all. I don’t want Leah to see us.”
“Ok. But why are you being so defensive about it? Its not like Leah doesn’t know you have an ex.”
“Listen Amara what we had was over four years ago. Now I’m about to get married to the love of my life. And beside Noah nobody knows about us. I want to keep it like that.”
And just like that he got into his car and sped off leaving Amara just the way he did in the past. But this time Amara knew how fake his words were. There was something he has been hiding. She was confused, she had many questions. And only one person could give her the answers.
