《His Butterfly》Chapter 7

Sitting in the small café, Amara kept thinking about that day when her happy world went upside down. She always knew when he lied, then why didn’t she recognized his lie then. Amara was living in a doubt since then but today her doubt got cleared. A memory flashed back when he pretended to have forgotten her birthday and threw her a surprise birthday party. He had apologized to her several times after the party saying even unintentionally he never wanted to hurt her. Was she too quick in judging him? Did she left him? Was there something she missed? All this questions were giving her a headache.
The man who turned the city upside down when he couldn’t get the ice cream she loved. He could never hurt her. Amara sighed realizing it took four years to get over the hurt and pain to see the truth. She cursed herself for not seeing it before. She had to know if what she was thinking was true or its just a miserable attempt to get him back. She was too blind or she is just illusionary. She wanted answers but there was no one who could give it to her. If Ric went to this extent, he will never tell the truth. Amara sighed not knowing what to do.
As if the Heaven wanted her know the real truth, Amara heard the voice of Noah standing in the queue for his coffee. She thanked the stars for listening to her prayers (It’s the author babe). She paid the bill and followed him outside stopping him before he went inside his car.
“Noah ,Noah wait.”
“Amara? What are you doing here?”
“I just needed some fresh air.”
“Still drinking cold tea when upset?”
She smiled at him for remembering her habits. Noah was Ric's best friend he must know about everything.

“Umm.. why don’t we get inside the café I wanted to talk about something with you.”
“Please Noah. Its really important.”
“I don’t think it’s a good idea.”
“Please N. For the sake of old times.”
“Okay five minutes Amara.”
They both went back inside the café. Noah wasn’t stupid he knew what Amara was going to ask. He prepared himself to lie to protect his best friend’s girl. For him she was like a little sister. She always brought out the best in Ric. She knew he wasn’t going to be an easy crack. She already had a plan ready in her mind. It was time to execute it.
“What do you want to know Amara?”
“How could you let it happen N? He left me like one spits chewing gum. And what if he does it to her?”
“What are you talking about?”
“ I’m talking about Leah. Richard is a heartless bastard. He left me stranded in life. He will do it again. He doesn’t know the meaning of love. He will hurt her. Anyone can see he doesn’t love her. He is a liar N.”
Noah was speechless at what he hearing. Amara was calling his friend name he didn’t deserve. He knew she suffered but Ric suffered too. He had to sacrifice his love for her own betterment and here she was abusing him.
“Amara you don’t know what you are talking about. I am done. Your five minutes are over.”
“ Oh so this is how it is. Is Leah the one he left me for ? Or he had already made more innocent girl his victim. He predates the girl. Damn I thought you didn’t supported him. But here you are supporting his whorish ways. Why Noah do you get his leftovers?”

“Stop it you crazy woman. HE DID EVERYTHING FOR YOU. HE NEVER THOUGHT ABOUT SOMEONE ELSE. IT WAS ALWAYS YOU. IF IT WASN’T FOR HIM YOU WOULD HAVE BEEN DEAD FOR A WHILE. HE FUCKING LOVED YOU THEN HE FUCKING LOVES YOU NOW.I SERIOUSLY DIDN’T EXPECTED IT FROM YOU AMARA.”
Noah’s chest was rising and falling as he tried to control his temper. He looked around people staring them. But when he looked Amara’s face he knew he fucked it up. Now he knew why she said those things. Damn it. He lost his cool.
“I knew it.”
Amara rushed to her car exiting the café. She was crying, hiccups sounds were all around in the car. Now she knew he did everything for her. She wasn’t surprised. Her heart knew it all along it was her head that was messing with her decisions. She failed in knowing him. She didn’t recognize his pain. He was hurting more than her when he said those words. She failed as a lover. She felt like shouting to the world that he loved her. But what had pushed him to take such steps. Noah said I would have died but who would have killed me.
Amara was happy. She felt content. He loves her. She felt like a teenager. He loves her. She smiled thinking about it. She was in a happy trance when her phone rang bringing her back.
“Yes Anna.”
“ Ma’am Miss Roscoe loved the details. She herself chose the tux from the Purple Paradise collection.”
“ That’s good Anna. I want you to send them the invitation of the fundraising gala.”
“ Okay ma’am. Have a good day.”
“ Bye Anna.”
Amara have to make everything right. She has a wedding to stop. She’ll have to be ready to fight for her love. Because this time she’ll listen to her heart.

Beast
A threat to the galaxy has come from another, and the Union of intelligent life will go to any length to stop it. Military Quarantine has held for hundreds of thousands of cycles. Traders, merchants, colonists, and Pirates live risky lives along the fringes as the politics from the inner systems fail to see the larger threats beyond their borders. A lone human finds himself far from home with no memories to how he arrived. A failing Trade vessel plays on a desperate gamble, while a malicious parasite searches for a suitable host. ............................................. Author's note: Beast is a story that I wrote a long, long time ago. Some of you might have read it then, back when it was posted on reddit over at r/HFY. It was my first webfiction and made in the spirit of that subreddit's "genre" of humanity being awesome. But, it is also a story that has bothered me a little bit. Just like most new writers tend to do, I made mistakes and errors that feel painful to reread. A Space Opera will be a Space Opera, but I had prose that makes present-me cringe. Still, at the same time, the story is still very much a tale I've never given up on. It was my first adventure into fiction: Beast was a crazy adventure with bodysnatching aliens, galactic war, threats from across the universe... Posting this story here is a way to try and redeem myself a bit. I won't call it a complete rewrite, because it's not, but I have wanted to go through and correct some of the major issues Beast has for a long time and put it somewhere more accessible to read (instead of as posts/comments on reddit) and I figure that now is as good a time as any. Additional corrections you might notice are welcome.

Leave Bad Enough Alone
Something has been amiss in the city’s theaters as of late. The local bards have long done a respectable job of keeping the audiences entertained, weaving high concepts with skillful performances. But lately, a new set of bards, and their illusionist cohorts, have captured the crowd’s attention. Compared to the theater’s usual fare, their work is hackneyed and poorly plotted, with unskilled acting, bad special effects, and unsatisfying resolutions. Worst of all, the audiences like their work more, and these upstarts are far more profitable than the city’s decent bards! Clearly, there must be some dark secret behind the success of these newcomers, and it’s up to the city’s true artists to find out what it is and expose the conspiracy! Or maybe the city’s bards have just become too hopelessly pretentious and derivative. It’s hard to tell. But investigate it they must! Failure is not an option! Victory, or...well, they’ll have to get day jobs or something. Original cover image generated by NightCafé.Master story list here.

An Average American in A High-school Academy Anime
An American versed in narrative tropes and more than mildly acquainted with anime wakes up in a completely different bed than the one he went to bed in. Now he has to scramble to understand where he is, what's going on, and hope to God he isn't in a relationship drama. I don't expect this to be good or well-received, but I have plenty of time this quarantine, so I'll try to get a chapter of 4000-10000 words out every one or two weeks. (haha) Please let me know how it can be improved. I'm an avid reader of fiction, but I've never really fallen down a rabbit hole so hard that I can name all tropes and settings and such by heart. I'm not sure if this will be effective satire, so I preemptively apologize. Inspired by: "My Life is Not a Manga, or maybe..." by EO Tenkey and "The Simulacrum" by Eganthale. Check them out if you want probably better stories than this one.
