《His Unknown Child》Chapter 13: Thinking OutLoud

"Aidan, come on. We're gonna be late for your party."

"I don't wanna go." What has Ashton done to this child. Ever since I left, Aidan had been acting more like Ashton. And I hate it. How did I ever fall in love with him?

"All your relatives are gonna be there." I explained. I did what I had to do. I picked him.

"Ahhhhhhh!" He squealed.

"Aidan stop it." Once I got him in the car and buckled, I drove back to my place. Where everybody is at right now.

"I WANT DADDY!" He screamed. Of course he wants Ashton.

"WELL YOU'RE NOT GONNA GET DADDY!" I screamed right back.

For the rest of the way home. All he did was sniffle from crying.

I parked in my parking spot and unbuckled Aidan.

"You will be good for everyone. Do you understand me?" He didn't move. "If you don't be good, there will my consequences." Aidan folded his and I rolled my eyes.

I carried him to the front door without him screaming.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY AIDAN!" Everyone shouted.

"Where's my grandson?" My dad came walking towards us. "Your mother would be so proud." He kissed my cheek and grabbed Aidan.

"NO." Aidan screamed.

Everyone stopped and stared at Aidan. Some even gasping.

"NO." He screamed again.

"No what?" My dad asked. Everyone still staring.

"I WANT MY DADDY!"

"AIDAN DARREN BURNS!" I shouted and took him from my dad.

"I want daddy." He mumbled. And wiped his face.

"Your daddy isn't here right now." My sister stepped in. Thank you. "Your mommy is here." I smiled at her.

"I don't want mommy." I gasped and glared at him. Aidan's face was red and puffy from crying.

"Why don't you want mommy?" My sister asked.

"Can I call daddy?"

"At bedtime you can." I whispered.

"I wanna go to bed." My face was shocked.

"Aren't you hungry." He shook his head.

"Fine, go to bed. You can call your stupid dad too. Come on you brat." I whispered in his ear and walked upstairs.

Aidan ran upstairs to his room and went straight to his bed. In his clothes. Probably something Ashton taught him.

"No coming down saying you're hungry or thirsty. If you need to go potty, the bathroom is across the hall." I grabbed my phone and scrolled through my contacts until I landed on Ashton's name. Aka, Asshole.

It started ringing, so I gave it to Aidan. I took a seat in the rocking chair.

I also left the phone on speaker.

"Hello?" I rolled my eyes.

"Daddy?" Aidan mumbled.

"Hey buddy. How's it going?"

"Mommy mean." My eyes widened and jogged to Aidan to head better. Aidan flinched.

"Why is mommy mean?" Pathetic.

"She called my a brat and you selfish." I'm surprised he remembered those words.

"Can I talk to your mommy?" Aidan nodded and handed me the phone.

"Okay for one-"

"No Charlie. There is no "for one", you can call me as many names as you want. But not in front of Aidan. We don't want him saying those words. And what did Aidan do to be called a brat?" He really is all protective.

"He wants you. That's all he's been saying. I WANT MY DADDY. Every time. He is being very disrespectful to his family." I explained.

Hello?" I answered my phone.

"Daddy?" Aidan mumbled.

"Hey buddy. How's it going?"

"Mommy mean." My eyes widened and wondered why.

"Why is mommy mean?" I asked.

"She called my a brat and you selfish." Why would she say that. Let alone in front of Aidan.

"Can I talk to your mommy?" Aidan said okay.

"Okay for one-"

"No Charlie. There is no "for one", you can call me as many names as you want. But not in front of Aidan. We don't want him saying those words. And what did Aidan do to be called a brat?" I am actually really pissed.

"He wants you. That's all he's been saying. I WANT MY DADDY. Every time. He is being very disrespectful to his family." She explained. Blah blah blah.

"If he wants me, then you should've called earlier. And I don't have a problem you called right now. But usually called at nighttime when Aidan goes to bed." I wonder what happened.

"I told Aidan he can only call you when it's bedtime. He volunteered to go to bed. And no dinner either." It sound like she was proud of her explaining.

"You're very sick you know? You're stupid at this point." I grunted.

"I'm the stupid one? Well you know what? Aidan is acting just like you. He even looks like you. I hate that. I want him like me. I never wanted him to ever know you. How did I ever fall for you? Even have sex with you." I couldn't deny that the sex wasn't good. Because it was, but at this point, the thought of it made me cringe.

"Same for you. But I'm glad we did. I'm glad we forgot protection. Otherwise Aidan wouldn't be here." It's true.

"That's the point. Aidan wouldn't be here. He's a mistake. I love him, but he will always be a mistake, just like his father." Then the line went flat.

Tears threatened to spill my eyes.

"Ashton?" My mom called out. "Where are you-"

I looked up, tears already coming down.

"Ashton? Honey, what's wrong?" She rushed towards me and pulled me into her arms.

"I'm a mistake." I mumbled in between my crying breaths.

"No, no, no. You are not a mistake. Yes, you weren't planned, but you are the best thing that has ever happened to me." She ruffled my hair and rocked me back and forth.

"Not to Charlie." I could literally see her face scowl.

"What now? She needs to lay off too." I chuckled, but it only made it worse.

"Her exact words, 'Aidan will always be a mistake, just like his father.' And there you have it." I started crying again.

"That's not true." Yes it is. I'm a mistake.

"I'll be in my room." I got up and walked away.

I walked into my room. Locking the door and walking to the bathroom. Locking that door too.

I searched through a secret cabinet for my razors.

And I found them. I grabbed my sharpest one and rolled up my sleeves.

I stared at my left arm.

"You are a mistake."

"You are a mistake."

"You're not suppose to be here you worthless piece of shit."

"What everybody say about you is false. You ARE a mistake. You ARE unlucky. You DON'T deserve a happy life or deserve Aidan."

"You are the worst father. Might as well be just like your father too."

I stopped.

I looked down. Counting how many I did.

Ten.

I dropped the razor and slide down against the wall.

Crying until it all just stopped.
