《His Unknown Child》Chapter 3: Decisions

Ashton should be here any minute now. I'm really nervous about this. I haven't even seen his house. What if he brings many girls home at night? What id he doesn't feed Aidan? I'm getting second thoughts about this idea.

Awhile after my thinking the doorbell rung. I rushed to the door and only to open it for Ashton. He was standing right before me.

"Hey." He spoke first. Maybe I should cancel my college trip.

"Hi, um, I was thinking. I should just not go to my college trip." I blurted. His head jerked up and stared into my eyes with his innocent ones.

"Why? I thought this was your dream college?" I nodded my head and looked down.

"It is, but I can't leave Aidan for three months. Do you know how much I'd miss out?" What if he finally learns his alphabet? Or count to twenty? I'd miss that.

"Don't worry Charlie. If anything exciting happend or bad, you'll be the first one to know. I'll call you. And you can call every night and morning to say goodnight and good morning." He does have a point. We do have facetime and calling.

"Fine, but don't make me regret my decision." He smiled widely and nodded fast.

"Trust me, you won't." He looked down and smiled again.

Ya, we'll see.

"Come on Aidan, time to pack up." I yelled as I was walking up the stairs.

"Mommy, can you help me?" I laughed at his struggle but helped him anyway.

As I helped, Ashton came into the room and leaned against the side.

"DADDY!!" Aidan screamed and ran to Ashton. Ashton picked him up and spun him around.

"Hey buddy." I smiled at the moment. Maybe Ashton should be in Aidan's life.

"Are you staying with me daddy?" Aidan asked and Ashton looked at me. I nodded and he smiled again.

"You're coming with me to daddy's house." Ashton said. I just there in awe. This amazes me. Aidan is already attached to Ashton. Father like son.

"Alright daddy and Aidan. Let's finish packing, cause I still need to pack." Ashton out Aidan down and Aidan ran to his closet.

"You go pack, I got Aidan. And if I'm missing anything, then you can help." I nodded and left Aidan's room to go to mine.

Charlie left to go finish packing her stuff, while I'm in here helping Aidan.

"Daddy, I need help with my bag." I chuckled and walked over to my son.

"Alright buddy. What do you want to bring with daddy?" It feels nice to be called "Dad"

"I want to bring Braden." He squealed. I furrowed my eyebrow. Braden?

"Who's Braden?" I asked

"Braden's my teddy bear." He started laughing and I laughed with him.

"Alright, let's finish packing." He nodded and went to a short black dresser.

______________

"Alright bud, I think we got everything you need and want to bring with you." He nodded and grabbed his teddy bear.

I thought of an idea and then I grabbed Aidan and put him over my shoulders. He squealed and started laughing. Soon he was sitting on my shoulders and laughing his butt off.

"This is fun daddy!" He squealed again.

Suddenly Charlie came running in the room out of breath.

"What happen?" She asked all worried.

"Don't worry drama momma." I smirked and she rolled her eyes.

"Mommy look! I'm on daddy's shoulders!" He laughed which only made Charlie and I laugh.

"I see." She laughed even more.

"Well my plane leaves at ten. And it's eight now." Charlie explained and I just nodded.

"Where are you going mommy?" Aidan asked.

"Mommy's going on a trip." I gave her a warm smile.

"How long?" Now comes the harder part of this situation.

There was a few moments of silence so I had an idea.

"Let's go out to eat before mommy leaves." I blurted. Aidan cheered yes and Charlie gave me small smile.

"Thank you." She whispered. I nodded and we all went out to my car to go eat.

______________

We went to a little dinner at about eight-thirty. People kept giving us glares. We just ignored it.

"Hi, welcome to the Parker Dinner, table for three?" An old lady said/asked.

"Hi, yes please." Charlie stepped in.

"Alright, come with me." She started walking and we all followed her.

We were seated in a both and Aidan sat with me and Charlie alone. It looked like she didn't mind.

"Hi, I'm Aaron, I'll be your waiter for today." The guy said and placed two big cups of water and a small one for Aidan. "Do you guys need some time to think?" Charlie looked up at him and nodded.

"Yes please." Aaron nodded and left.

"Alright little mam, what do you want to eat?" I asked Aidan who was coloring the kids menu that Aaron gave him.

"What is there daddy?" He asked.

"There's Mac and Cheese, hamburger, hot dog, and pizza." I said and looked back at Aidan who looked liked he was thinking.

"I want pizza. Mommy? Can I have pizza please." Aidan asked nicely. Nice manners kid.

"Yes you can buddy. Thank you for using your manners." She said and looked back at her menu.

Soon enough the later came back over with a note pad to write our orders down.

"Do we all know what we want?" He flashed a smile, but mostly at Charlie. I saw Charlie blush and nod. The hell?

"Yes, this little man wants chocolate milk and pizza." Aaron nodded and wrote it down.

"And for the mom and dad?" I don't get why waiters say that.

"I just want the one taco and with some fruit and vegies, oh, and with Dr Pepper." Aaron flashed another smile and turned his head to me.

"Small pizza with a Bud- I mean Root Beer." I corrected. If I got a beer, Charlie would freak out.

"Alright, thank you. Your orders will be here soon." With that, he walked out.

Charlie's head turned at me with a mad face. Uh Oh...

"You were gonna order a beer?" She whispered.

"Yes, but I changed my mind. And don't worry, I don't drink. It's only like once every one or two months. And I won't even touch a beer or any alcohol while you're gone." She still didn't looked convinced.

"I hope not. Otherwise, I'll make sure you won't ever see your son again." She whispered again.

"I won't. I don't want or need to do that." She nodded and went back on her phone.

Thirty minuted later, our food finally came, and Aidan was so happy. Like really happy.

"So, where do you work?" Charlie asked while taking a bite of her fruit.

"At a garage. I'm a mechanic. Not an advance one. Just a little one. I didn't go to college so ya." I explained. I hope she won't be mad at me for the kind of job I have.

"At least you can get a pretty descent job. I bet it pays well too. And are you ever gonna go to college?" I shook my head. Swallowed my food and spoke.

"Ya, it pays really good. Fifteen bucks an hour. And no, I'm not going to college." I said. Her head turned my way and we stared into each others eyes. After what seemed forever, she looked down at Aidan.

"Why?" Great, now she's gonna be mad at me for not going to college.

"Because, I don't have the time or money. I just don't want to go to college. I want to stay right where I am." She nodded and continued eating.

"How's everything going so far? Anything else?" Aaron came back and asked.

"Everything's good. And no, we're all good, thanks though." Aaron nodded and left again.

"We better get going. My plane leaves in an hour." I nodded and Aaron comes to our table just in time.

"I got it." I pulled out my wallet and pulled out forty buck." Charlie just stared at me.

"That's too much of a tip." She blurted.

"Nonsense, it's fine. That's why I have a job." She just nodded and picked up Aidan.

Aaron took the book and came back seconds later.

"Here you go, nineteen dollars and twenty cents." I thanked him and he left. I placed the nineteen dollars on the table.

"Don't worry." I told Charlie and she walked out of the dinner.

We walked silently to my car and then Aidan broke the silence.

"I'm tired." I chuckled at his cuteness.

"Daddy will get you home soon." Aidan nodded and put his head back on Charlie's shoulder.

It was silent for the rest of the ride.

We went back to Charlie's place to get Aidan's stuff. We drove separately also.

Once it was time for Charlie to leave my place, she said one last goodnight to Aidan then spoke to me.

"Will you be ok?" I nodded.

"Of course. He's my son too. We'll be fine." She still had the worried look in her face.

"I just don't want to leave him." I know how she feels.

"You're gonna be fine. Remember, there texting, calling, FaceTime, Skype." I suggested.

"How do you feel?" She asked randomly. I furrowed my eyebrows with confusion.

"How do I feel what?" I asked.

"How do you feels about being a dad? Like, what do you feel towards it?" Oh, see.

"Honestly, it feels great. I mean, his was unexpected, but Aidan has to be the best thing that's happen to me. To my life. I love him. I've only known him for a few days instead of years, but I love him so damn much, it hurts." She smiled and kissed my cheek.

"I'll talk to you later." With that she walked out with no other words.

Strange...

I was sleeping until I heard a faint little cry. I popped my eyes open and saw Aidan silently crying. He was standing right by my bed.

I squirmed out of bed and picked him up and turned the light. It was two am. So early.

"What's wrong buddy?" I asked.

"I had a nightmare daddy." My heart broke a little. My little boy had a nightmare.

"Shhh, it's ok. Come sleep with daddy, ok?" He nodded his head and snuggled more into me. I sighed and turned the light off and went back to my bed with Aidan.

He snuggled even more into me while I held him.

"Night Aidan." I said and kissed his forehead.

"Night daddy." And with that, we both fell asleep until my alarm woke me up.
