"You can come out now. We can smell you, Kittypet!" They grey tom called. He walked towards Rusty, a pack of wolves flooding in behind him.

Before he could react, the faces of snarling wolves and flashes of teeth surrounded Rusty, and he stumbled back in fear.

"Don't hurt me." He mewed nervously.

"I wasn't planning too." The tom sighed, flicking his tail at the wolves. They whined, losing all hint of ferocity and trotted deeper into the cave, tongues lolling. "Come here!"

"You're a..." Rusty perked up. He was starting to lose his fear of the strange grey tom, and was more curious.

"A Wolfwalker. You should thank me." The tom mewed, pride brimming his voice.

Rusty's tail tip twitched. "Why?"

"I saved your life, that grey thing could have done way worse to you than I could."

"Saved me? By bitting me?" Rusty spat.

The wolfwalker snorted. "Well, you smacked me in the brain enough times."

"Well, you were attacking me."

"I was trying to get you out of the trap! Anyways, you came into our woods, Kittypet."

"Your woods?" Rusty muttered.

"Let me get a look at you."

He stuck his nose up to Rusty's face "Are you seeing things?" He tried to dodge the wolfwalker, but he appeared behind him in an instant. "How's your smell?" The tom opened his mouth. "Smells like kittypet."

"Quit it!" Rusty meowed, annoyed.

"Any extra fur?" He jumped onto Rusty's back and began feeling around, and Rusty reached over and cuffed him on the ears.

"Alright, you look fine. Now stop moving. I have to fix that bite." The wild tom grabbed Rusty's paw but he jerked it back. "Hey! Do you want your twolegs to know you've been hurt? They'll never let you out here again, ever."

Twolegs? Was that what the wild cats called housefolk? He understood the message, though, and warily placed his paw out.

The grey tom raised his paw and threw back his head, letting out a loud howl. The wolves in the cave snapped their attention onto the tom's, their eyes turning pure yellow. They joined in, filling the cave with a cacophony of howls.

Rusty watched as wisps of yellow magic crept up the feral cat's paw and formed into what looked to be a wolves paw-print.

Suddenly, his paw came crashing down onto Rusty's paw, magic twirling around the air and swirling into his bite mark. The wound started shrinking, a strands of orange fur sprouted upwards until it appeared like nothing had happened at all.

He simply stared in amazement at his paw, eyes round with curiosity and wonder.
