《More Than What He Seems - A Fortnite Story No.1》Chapter 11 - Midas' Office

Later that morning...
"Attention henchmen and agents! Your old boss, Midas, has returned. He's come to make an announcement." Ocean reveals to the Fortilla through a microphone connected to a bunch of speakers scattered around.
At once, all henchmen halt their patrols and conversations and draw their attention to the speakers.
"Greetings henchmen and agents, old and new, on this great island. This is Midas, your boss and leader of Ghost."
A few henchmen mutter in surprise seeing their boss is still alive after 2 months of silence.
"In my absence, this island has descended into madness. Chaos Agent's shadow has fallen across the island as he and his henchmen have overtaken the Agency that was once ours." He continues.
Sophie and Skye listen closely to Midas' speech.
"He's a really confident guy, Midas." Sophie sighs, turning to her friend.
"He really is. Every week back at the Agency, every Monday morning, he'd always have a meeting planned." Skye tells her, adding to Midas' confidence.
"You might think that he's cornered us. That we have nowhere to run. But this is simply not the case. You've been hoping for a miracle, but you need to understand, that miracle can only come if we unite and work together." He goes on. "That is why I'm calling on all of you to rise to the challenge! Spread the word to everyone. Friends, family, colleagues on the island. With enough support, we can turn this war around and take back what was once ours!!"
Cheers and applause erupt from the henchmen and agents down below as Midas' message spreads about, with some already leaving with Ghost flags and posters to inform the people of the island that this war wasn't over yet. Not if Midas had anything to say about it.

"I think that went well sir." Ocean smiles, turning the microphone off.
"I agree, don't you think so too, Agent Skye and Sophie?" Midas admits, turning to them.
"Yes sir!" Skye grins, while Sophie gives him a smile and thumbs up.
"Well, with that out of the way. Sophie, Skye. I have a mission for you."
Sophie smiles, excited, as Midas motions them to follow him.
"Agent Ocean you're in charge until I'm done with these 2, understand? I'll only be gone 5-10 minutes."
"You can count on me M!"
*****************************************
Wow!! I'm already going on another mission! And with Skye! I wonder where we're going to though?
Midas leads us to a newly refurbished room in the main part of the Fortilla. Skye recognizes a majority of it from the old Agency.
"Woah bossman! It's just like your old office!!" She exclaims.
The room has many golden artifacts from his old room including a statue of him holding the earth, his golden file cabinet filled with documents and intel. Atop the cabinet sits tons of golden trophies and medals, a golden fish trophy sticking out as the bigger one. In the left side of the room, I notice a few golden instruments such as:
A piano
A ukulele
A Banjo
And a violin.
"Jesus Christ where can he find the time to play so many instruments?!" I question.
Last of all, encased in a glass box on the wall is a golden drum gun, most definitely belonging to Midas.
"I see you are impressed by the office, are you not?" Midas remarks, seeing my face in awe.
"Oh! It's certainly very impressive Midas." He hums to himself, sitting down in his chair.
"I'm glad you agree. Now, in regards to your mission: I believe I'm missing some files from my draws."

"You want us to get it back for you?" I ask, excited.
"Patience, dear. Now, agent Skye. Did you, before the Agency's explosion and Shadow's attack, happen to grab the files and intel from the Shark?" Midas questions, putting his feet up. "Because the Shark's draw seems to be empty, don't you think?"
Skye lets out an embarrassed laugh, scratching her head.
"Heh, oops. Must've slipped my mind." She smiles awkwardly.
"Mhm, I would like you, if you can, to take a boat and Sophie to the Shark and recover those lost files. If I'm right, like every other agents files, they should be in the vault."
"No prob bossman! You can count on us! C'mon Sophie!" Skye agrees enthusiastically.
"I'll be with you in a second Skye!" I call after her, getting up from my chair.
"Hm? Can I do something for you Soph-"
Midas is taken back by me suddenly embracing him with a big hug.
"Oh, are you quite alright Sophie?" He asks, concerned until I let him go and say:
"Thanks Midas! We'll be as quick as we can!" And with that, I leave him alone in his office, chasing after Skye.
As she runs off after Skye, my mind races:
This child... she's really trying her best. And she seems to know how to keep me happy. But, she still has a lot to learn before our assult against Chaos Agent that won't be for a long time yet.
And yet, I seem to care about her safety a lot more than I let on...
What have I gotten myself into?

Gaijin
Gaijin means outsider or foreigner. That goes doubly so for David Wyatt after he found himself in a world being chased by something that looked eerily like a stereotypical Japanese Oni. Now, he has to figure out how he can find his place in a world where most people dislike him on principle. At least everything is also out to eat him in some way… wait, that’s a not a positive. This is a Eastern Fantasy GameLit story. It is primarily told from the main character's perspective with the very common trope of an isekai. There will be my own spin on things, so facts I pull from eastern mythology and legends will be drastically different in some aspects. In the end, this story is just for your and my enjoyment. There will be guaranteed chapters every Friday at 15:00 CST, and I will randomly post chapters at other times when I get in the mood for writing or when I like a particular scene.
