and before I knew it, I was dressed in my costume.
It was a coincidence that Halloween was on a Saturday this year but I was glad. I mean, I had all day to rest before school on Monday.
Standing in front of my mirror, I grinned in satisfaction at my appearance. I decided not to go overboard with my costume because of Caelum. He eventually agreed to match with me, so I chose the simplest costume I could find. Okay, Emery was the one who gave us the idea to go as Cosmo and Wanda.
My pink hair was packed neatly in a bun on my head, and my hairband with the crown thingy was placed in the middle of my hair. I went all out by dying my hair pink just to really make the costume work. Emery told me the dye was washable so I wasn't going to have a problem removing it from my hair. I hoped she wasn't messing around with me.
I ensured to take Poof when leaving my room. Well, it was just a big bowl I wanted to place all my candies in. The bowl was round and purple so I decided to call it Poof.
"Stay safe baby," I heard my Mother's voice from the kitchen.
I made a sound of affirmation as I left the house. The past few days, Mum had actually been trying really hard. She'd always try to initiate small talks when we were sat together at the dining table and she was even interested in the happenings in my life. It was obvious she was trying to earn my forgiveness but she didn't know I had already forgiven her.
Emery's car arrived immediately I exited my house and I hopped into the back seat.
"Hi," I greeted.
"You look so pretty," Emery gushed from the front seat.
Clara nodded in affirmation. "I agree. Your hair looks so adorable"
"Thanks." I grinned at both of them. "I love your costumes too."
Emery was dressed up in a Red Riding Hood costume and according to her, it made her look sexy without revealing too much. She also added an extra petticoat to give the skirt more volume and once again, Emery made it work.
Clara decided to dress as a guy—which I found hilarious. She didn't have enough time to pick out a costume so she made do with what she had. She didn't just wear the usual skinny jeans and a T-shirt, though. She wore a really baggy jeans and a white tank top. What made her costume different was the pieces of jewelry she hung on her neck and the number of rings she placed on her fingers. All in all, her costume was the most creative out of all three of us.

Melanie didn't come with us. She'd said she had another party to attend. I had a feeling she was still mad about the matching costumes thingy but I couldn't say. She was eventually going to find somebody better than Caelum. Amen.
"Nice hair," I teased Caelum. He refused to dye his hair green to complete the Cosmo look, but I wasn't complaining. It was a surprise he even dressed up in the white shirt and black pants.
"Well, I can't say the same to you," he sneered, turning to look at me.
"Eyes on the road Caelum!" Emery snapped.
I smirked at him through the mirror. "You always try to find faults in my appearance, C." I waggled my brows. "I'm a hundred percent sure you love what you see."
Emery and Clara let out loud shrieks of laughter while Caelum snorted, sending me a glare through the rearview mirror.
We arrived at Wyatt's house hours later. Wyatt lived in the other town two hours away from Hill-wood. I was surprised though. I mean nobody even cared to inform me that we had to drive two hours just for the Halloween party.
"You didn't tell me the party was not in Hill-wood," I said to Emery as we left the car.
She shrugged. "I thought I told you."
I narrowed my eyes. "Do you have amnesia or something? You keep forgetting to tell me important information."
"You know what?" she asked.
"What?"
"I told you where Wyatt lived."
"You did not," I countered.
"Did too."
"Did not."
"Remember when I told you that you didn't need to drive? That Caelum and I were coming to pick you up?" she asked. "I told you Wyatt didn't live in Hill-wood."
"Oh," I replied.
I did remember Emery telling me something about Wyatt not living in Hill-wood but I wasn't paying attention. Seems like I was the one with the memory loss.
"Yeah, 'oh,'" she said, wrinkling her nose. "You were too busy ogling my brother, you couldn't hear anything."
My cheeks burnt in embarrassment and I let out a small sigh of relief when I didn't see Caelum or Clara beside us. Besides, you couldn't blame me for ogling. Caelum had just come back from his daily run and he was shirtless. Forgive me for not ignoring God's creation.
"Shut up," I muttered weakly.
"Yeah, 'shut up,'" she mimicked. I huffed and crossed my arms while Emery smirked.
I looked around confused before turning back to Emery. "I thought we were coming to a Halloween party," I said. "Not that I mind though, because I don't even like parties. But where are the red solo cups, the drunk and sweaty teenagers, you get what I mean."

She giggled as we reached the porch of the large house. "It's still past 12. Have you ever heard of a party in the afternoon?"
Shrugging, I slowly entered the house behind Emery. There was no form of Halloween decorations on the walls or ceiling or anywhere so I took my time admiring the house. The living room was uncomfortably large, the walls were painted white, cream couches surrounded the coffee table and the linen curtains looked like hands never touched it.
When I said the Jensen's house was straight out of a magazine cover, I was exaggerating. Wyatt's house was the one straight out of the magazine's cover. Even the pictures and artworks on the wall looked like a hired professional designer placed them there. The house didn't lack that homely feeling because it did have. But the interior decor was just wow.
"I'm going to use the bathroom," Emery said. "I'll be back."
Standing alone in a place I'd never been to didn't sound like a great idea, so I narrowed my eyes in search of Clara or her curly hair. I couldn't find her, but I spotted Caelum leaning against the living room wall talking to a boy our age. I decided to approach them, because wherever Cosmo was, Wanda went. "Hey C."
"Uh... hi Daesyn," Caelum greeted politely and my eyes widened at his politeness. I wanted to reach out to check if he had a fever. "This is our cousin, Wyatt. Wyatt, meet Daesyn."
"Oh, you're Daesyn!" Wyatt exclaimed, smiling widely. He had dark hair like Caelum, but his eyes were blue. I couldn't help but appreciate his face. Good looks ran in the family.
I cleared my throat awkwardly as a small smile made its way on my face. "The one and only."
He playfully nudged Caelum's shoulder. "I like her already."
"Yeah," Caelum muttered. "Because you don't live with her."
"What is that supposed to mean?" I glared at him. "I don't even live with you."
He nodded. "But I see you every day," he rose a finger, "at my house," another finger, "in school," the third finger, "wherever I go," the fourth, "even in the graveyard." He shoved his palm into my face.
"Are you guys dating?" Wyatt asked.
"No." Not like I'd mind dating Caelum, but his attitude wasn't something I could live with.
"So, you're single?"
"Why do you want to know?" I crossed my arms. That honestly sounded like an overused cliché line.
He shrugged. "No reason, I just felt like asking," he said. "So, are you?"
I opened my mouth to respond when I heard Emery's voice. I smiled internally. Emery always came at the right time.
"So, Daesyn." She smiled, gesturing towards Wyatt. "I see you've met my cousin."
"Yeah." I nodded. "He seems like uh... a nice boy?"
Emery laughed while Caelum snorted. I turned to him. "Do you have a problem with your nose or something?"
"What?"
"You've been snorting all day," I emphasized.
"What are you talking about?"
I put my head in my hands, just to be dramatic. "Caelum, your nose, snorting, all day."
"So?"
"Jesus Christ," I muttered. "Do you even understand English?"
"Hi, I'm Daesyn and I have no brain," he said in a falsetto voice.
I glared at him and tried to make my voice deep. "Hi, I'm Caelum!" I said. "I am mysterious and I love watching Dora the explorer."
Wyatt and Emery burst out laughing. Wyatt pointed a finger at Caelum in between his laughter. "Man, that is... so true."
Caelum crossed his arms across his chest, mouth formed into a scowl and dark eyes narrowed. "You're dumb."
I found it easy to avoid his bulging muscles since the look on his face was priceless. "Dora," I repeated the first thing that came into my mind.
Caelum's angry façade dropped immediately. His lips quirked up to form a smile, and he bit his cheeks to prevent himself from laughing. I fought the urge to coo at his cuteness, so I smirked as he turned and exited the living room.
Wyatt recovered from his laughter first, but he still had a small smile playing on his lips. "As fun as that was," he said. "I just realized we have a party to organize."
"True!" Emery exclaimed. I was sure she didn't mention anything about becoming a decorator.
