《Demon Slime | Demon Slayer x Rimuru》Chapter 3: Peace

'It has been a month since I first came to this world.'
During my time in this world, so little has been accomplished but I like I've witnessed an endless series of events.
'This world certainly is interesting.' You thought while gazing out off into the distance. 'I hope everyone's alright back in Tempest... I wish I had a way to communicate with them, but with my current power, that's not possible.'
I took a long and deep sigh.
'I really wish I could go home.'
Flashback
"Alright, Rimuru, I would like to introduce you to my family." The burgundy haired boy said while motioning me to introduce myself to his family.
"Hello, everyone. My name's Rimuru. Rimuru Tempest. I appreciate your hospitality." I said while giving a small bow while staring at Tanjiro's family right in front of me.
"No, no, no, lift your head, it's fine. We're just happy that we could help." Said a woman with purple eyes and long black hair. "My name's Kie. It's nice to meet you, Rimuru." She said with her aura screaming motherly.
I gave her a warm smile then turned to face the rest of the family.
"Hello! My name's Takeo. I hope we can get along." Said a young boy with black hair and red eyes.
"Nice to meet you Takeo." I said. "I hope that we can get along as well."
"H-Hello, my name's Hanako. N-nice to meet you." Said a young girl with short black hair and wine colored eyes.
"Hanako." I said to myself. "That's a pretty name."
I noticed once I said this she seemed to become more comfortable and smiled at me.
"My name's Shigeru, and his name is Rokuta." Said a boy with very short hair while pulling the person that I now know as Rokuta into a hug."
"Nice to meet you both!" I said with enthusiasm as I gave them a close-eyed smile.
They simply returned the smile and started whispering to each other.
Lastly, was a young girl around the same height as me with long black hair, tied into a bun with soft pink eyes.
"My name's Nezuko. I hope that we can be friends." The girl said giving me a warm smile.
"Likewise." I said returning the smile.
"Alright then," Kie said while clapping her hands together. "Now, let's get you situated with some new clothes and a meal." She said while motioning for me to follow her out of the room.
"Thank you. Please take care of me." I said as I, once again, gave them a respectful bow.

Peaceful.
That's what my life has been like for the past month.
Everyday, I would wake up in the morning having no clue what I expect to happen.
I was so used to having to deal with several problems ranging from other Demon Lords, to subordinates, to running a nation, etc. That living such a peaceful life like this one feels...
Wrong.
Back in Tempest, I would always be busy. Whether it's paperwork or having to settle a dispute. Overtime, I learned to trust my subordinates with those kinds of things but even with them doing that portion of the work required to run a nation.
I was always busy.
I let out a deep sigh as I turned back to stare at the landscape.
'The Kamado family is really nice. Not only did they provide me shelter and hospitality, they even gave me free meals and fresh clothes.' I thought while watching a bird take flight. 'I promise I'll pay them back someday, they've really helped me a lot this past month.'
"Oh, hello. You're up early."
I turned around to face the very familiar face that I was used to seeing every morning.
"Good morning, Tanjiro." I said while smiling at him.
He sat down next to me as he was trying to follow my gaze as I stared at the surroundings.
"Rimuru, I've just noticed, you really are always up early. Are you sure you're getting enough sleep?" He said turning to me with eyes full of concern.
Of course, I was a slime, this meant that sleep wasn't necessary so I always ended up being active as soon as dawn breaks.
"Yes, I'm sure." I said while nodding at him.
"Alright then, just please don't overexert yourself. If you're feeling tired, you should rest." The burgundy haired boy said as he put his sandals on and grabbed the axe that was next to him.
I simply watched him as he got up and started to proceed to start chopping logs for charcoal while being fast and accurate.
'Well, seeing that they have been very kind to me. I should probably pay that kindness back with actually being productive rather than lazing around all day.' I thought as I pulled myself off of the porch at the front of the house and started walking towards Tanjiro.
"Hey, Tanjiro, do you think I could try using that?" I said while pointing at the axe that he was holding in his hands.
"Huh?" He said with a confused look. "Are you sure? It's really heavy." He said while reaching it out so I could take it.

"Yes, I'm sure." I quickly said as I reached forward and took the hatchet out of his hands.
The axe felt surprisingly light in my hands. It was probably because I was used to much heavier weapons. I have been in a lot of situations. Somehow, that much has happened in just the course of 6 years. If I tried explaining all of the experiences that I had in Tempest to someone they would most likely faint from all the information. I used very powerful weapons which were made by expert blacksmiths and craftsman while being constructed of very rare materials. I wish I could somehow get one of those here. Though, I guess that would be a small problem. I still remember that one time where I unintentionally split the ocean with just one half-hearted swing. Oh boy, that was bad.
I raised the axe over my head, lining up hit as best as I could and brought it down on the log in one fast swipe.
In the blink of an eye, a perfect cut straight down the middle.
The burgundy haired boy stared at me in disbelief.
"Wow, Rimuru, you're really good! How'd you get so accurate so fast! I couldn't even see it as it was going down." He said while jumping up and down.
"Thank you, Tanjiro." I said while smiling at him and handing him back the axe.
I started to head back to the house. "Well, I'm going to find something else to do." I said while walking slowly. "Thanks for letting my do that, it means a lot." I said while winking at him.
"No problem." He simply said, smiling as he returned back to chopping.
I went inside the house and I immediately smelt the delicious scent of pickled fish and rice.
"Ah, Rimuru, perfect timing. Can you help me set the table?" Kie said while she was busy plating the freshly cooked food.
"Sure!" I said while running over and assisting her with the plating and setting everything down.
"Alright, can you call Tanjiro in for breakfast?" She said as she finished laying down the chopsticks for everyone.
"Alright." I said as I started to walk outside and to where I last saw Tanjiro.
"Tanjiro!" I called out to him as he was sweating and just finishing up with his chopping.
He stared back at me when I said his name.
"Breakfast is ready." I told him and went back into the house.
He nodded and placed his axe down as he ran back into the house.
When he got into the house, we were all already seated and ready to eat.
He gazed around the room with a smile sensing the peaceful nature in the air.
He sat down and all of us were eager to eat the delicious food that was plated right in front of us.
Even myself, I was a slime and didn't need to eat but it certainly smelled very delicious.
'Kie is very good at cooking.' I thought making a mental note for myself.
"Alright, everyone," Kie said putting her hands together.
We all quickly did the same and said at the same time:
"Thank you for the food!"
"I definitely ate a lot." I said to myself as I walked outside of the room and outside of the house and felt the snow crunch under my feet as I started walking around the house.
'I've been eating the same cooking for a month now and I'm still not bored of it... I guess it's just the true power of being good at cooking.' I thought to myself as I continued to move around the house.
Then I saw her, a young girl with long black hair carrying a basket full of various different vegetables and fruits.
When I saw her, I immediately ran over to her waving to try to get her attention.
"Hello, Nezuko!" I said while smiling at her. "Did you get a good haul today?" I questioned as I pointed at her basket.
"Ah, yes, there were quite a lot of them and they're all fresh as well." She said enthusiastically as she started showing the different kinds of vegetables. "We should be able to eat well for the next couple of months." She said with a positive attitude.
"Anyways, have you seen Tanjiro? I want to ask him a question?" She asked looking at me.
"Oh, yeah, he just finished up his own harvest, I think." I said with an unsure tone. "He's probably around there." I said.
"Oh, alright, thanks for telling me." She said giving me a warm smile.
"Goodbye!" She said waving as she started walking to where I told her Tanjiro should be.
I waved back and sighed.
I turned my heard to stare at the tall trees which seemed to scrape the sky.
They had their own form of beauty and each tree was unique to itself. They would vary in height, shape, and width. There were even some trees where animals seemed to be more attracted to.
The only sound while I was standing quietly were the birds chirping and the leaves rustling in the wind.
"How peaceful..." I said to myself while smiling.
