《The Devil's Dance》9

Olivia is sitting on the couch when I get home. I was hoping she wouldn't see me until later. She can always tell when something is bothering me. She looks away from the TV and smiles at me.

"Hey gorgeous." She says.

I sit in the arm chair adjacent to the couch. "Hey Livy." I try to make my voice as happy as possible.

She turns the TV off and turns towards me. "What's wrong?"

"Nothing." I say making myself seem care free and relaxed.

She just stares at me. Silently. Knowingly. Waiting for me to give in.

I do.

"It's Miss Bell." I confess.

"What about her?"

"I kind of just told her I want to be with her." I say focusing on my nails so I don't have to look at Olivia.

"And she said...?" Olivia asks.

"Basically it's never going to happen. She's my teacher and it's inappropriate."

Olivia gets a curious look on her face. "But she didn't say she didn't want it to happen. Just that it shouldn't."

"I don't know Liv. She seemed pretty upset. Maybe I should just leave it alone." I fold my arms across my chest.

Olivia frowns and holds her arms out to me. "Come here Kitty Kat."

I smile weakly. I adore being called that. It's so cute. I crawl on to the couch with her and she holds me. Petting my head like some type of lap dog. It feels nice though.

"Thank you for being my best friend." I say to Olivia.

"Forever." She holds out her pinky.

I smile and lock mine with hers. "Always."
