《Fierrochase One Shots》Distracting

Magnus
Alex was cute, that was something I could not deny. Weather she was a girl or he was a boy I found Alex incredibly adorable.
While we were battling she would always do this thing where she licked her lips before starting to fight, that was usually what kept repeating in my head, over and over, let's just say I hadn't done well while fighting for a while.
We were heading into war games when she stopped me, letting the rest of our floor head out.
"Magnus what's been going on with you lately? You keep dying really early in the games."
I tried to hide my embarrassment by looking away but she just pulled my face forward "Seriously man, have you lost your mojo or something?"
I shook my head "N-no it's nothing like that, I've just been, distracted lately."
Alex rolled her eyes "Well fix it, you're making our floor look bad."
With that she ran to the rest of the group. I followed slightly behind, thinking. Maybe something was wrong with me, I had never been distracted by any of my other floor mates, not even if they were mid death (in Valhalla at least), I tried to shake it off but failed as I ran up to all of them.
"Okay, its dragon time!" Malory cheered, rushing into the battle area.
We all followed close behind, meeting the other floors and waiting for the dragon to appear. After a minute Alex yelled in frustration, suddenly a large green dragon broke from the earth.
"Shit!" Alex shouted, jumping in my direction.
Her shirt lifted a little, showing off her stomach which had a little freckle on it.
"Magnus watch out!" Mallory yelled.
I looked back to see a huge rock hurdling in my direction, I ran out of the way, barely making it out.

"Pay attention Maggie!"
"Sorry! I didn't sleep," I lied.
"Then sleep!" Alex shouted, taking her wire out.
She licked her lips a little and winked over at me before leaping away.
She launched towards the dragon, which was slashing around and picking off people by the second. She landed on a tree and almost blended in, then I realized, she wasn't human anymore. Instead she was a jaguar, slinking in the branches.
I shook my head, trying to regain my focus. Jack glowed a little as I charged, but I instantly froze when I heard the loud scream come from the trees around the dragon.
Alex.
My eyes immediately went back over to her, she was back in human form, holding her arm that was gushing blood all over her.
I was mad. Really, really fucking mad.
The battle was a blur of flashes of light after that, though I did remember waking up in my bed.
Alex was sitting in a chair next to my bed, picking what looked like dried clay from her nails.
"You were the only one who died, you healed everyone in a split second and the dragon disappeared. Why do the hot ones always have to have some insane power?" Alex sighed quietly.
"Huh?"
She snapped her head up, her cheeks flushed "Nothing, nothing Beantown, how ya feelin?"
I shrugged, my head was swimming and my entire body felt like it was buzzing, but there wasn't much pain.
"I'm surprised that you did all of that, in the recent games you've really sucked ass, but this time you totally destroyed the dragon, even after being so distracted."
I sat up, taking a moment to prepare myself for what I was about to say "I've been distracted because of you."

"Me? Why the hell would I distract you?"
I hung my head in embarrassment "I don't know Alex, I just look at you and I can't stop, I get mesmerized by the smallest details about you. There has to be something wrong with me."
Alex broke out laughing, not the reaction I had expected or had hoped for.
"Shut up!" I muttered, hiding my face more "I can't control it dude."
She stopped laughing after a few seconds, "Ah-ah, Maggie, there isn't anything wrong with you. Have you never had a crush before or what?"
A crush.
Shit.
"I-I uh, I-"
"To be honest it's the same with me, I'm just good at hiding it," Alex interjected.
I raised my head, she was so unpredictable.
"You, do?"
"Yeah, I mean like I can't take my eyes off of you half the time either. When you get tired your eyes close a little and the light can hit them just right and I just, ugh, I can't even keep my mouth closed."
"Really? I do that?"
"Yes," Alex laughed gently, placing a hand on my shoulder.
"So it's like when you're heading into a fight how you lick your lips and how when you smile your little dimples appear?"
"Sure, oh, you do this one thing where when you're bothered you'll let your lips part, but only slightly, and I can't help but imagine-"
She stopped talking, drawing her hand away from me.
"Imagine what?" I asked urgently.
No response.
"Alex please?"
She didn't respond with her voice but with her body, she leaned in towards me and pecked me on the lips. Alex smirked triumphantly. "I can't help but imagine what it's like to kiss them."
I spat out something unintelligible and Alex laughed again. She was blushing but she still seemed so carefree.
"You're cute," she chuckled.
"You too Alex."

Rekindle
My Newest, and at the same time, Oldest novel. This is a Rewrite of my very first novel that I begun when I was just starting out. It follows the story of Mark Floyd, a broken man who once tried to do what he thought was right... only to be stabbed in the back and thrown away. Now, pulled into a conflict that spans time and space, Mark has a choice to make; Stand up once more, even if it means facing an unknowable future, or let the Embers of his heart die and sink back into darkness. ----------------------------------- “For gold is tried in the fire, and acceptable men in the furnace of adversity”. Once part of a Special Ops team in the US Army, Mark Floyd thought he had seen the worst that Humanity had to offer. That was until his final mission, one that would leave him a broken and shattered man, betrayed by the Country he served, and abandoned by society as a whole. His dreams filled with nightmares of the ones he failed to protect, mind and memories clouded by booze and more, Mark finds himself stumbling through life without purpose or desire. Life isn't done with Mark yet, however. For as long as even a single ember remains in a persons heart, here is still yet hope for the flames of Passion and Hope to be Rekindled. When the dying embers of Mark's heart catches the eyes of a Being far beyond his understanding, Mark finds himself thrown into a situation not even his years of training could prepare him for. Will this new chance be Mark's hope at both Redemption and Recompense? Or will it simply be the final nail in the coffin for a man already dead to the World? [This is a rework of my very first story. The general story will remain the same, however a few details have been tweaked, the chapters have be Edited better and some chapters have been broken down into smaller chunks for better flow and consistency. The biggest change will be to the System itself; It will be a lot less "Game-like", meaning no stats, levels or similar aspect, though skills will still be present in the form of "Programs". Instead, It'll focus more on the Sigil's nature as super-computers and how they change the world around them. This should make for a much more "natural" and less info-dumpy system.
