《love.》CHAPTER TWO.

⸻ She wasn't well known throughout her highschool, she wasn't friendly with the people too much either. She was smart, she had focus, she didn't want nor need friends.

But, for some reason, Yachi was different. Yachi was the one she could tolerate, Yachi was the one she allowed herself to even try to become close to. That was strange to her, at least, the feeling of never wanting to be around anyone unless it was that person— and she hated that feeling more than anything.

"How are your grades so far?" Were the first official words spoken by [Name]'s father that evening.

Most father's usually asked how school was, how their day was, maybe just gave a good conversation. Yet, [Name] was thrown into the karma of having parents who had no idea how to socialize with a teenager.

"My grades are fine," [Name] had decided to respond with. Her family had known the answer to that question every time. Her grades were always the best, never a single grade lower, but that never stopped them from asking.

Her hands were moving quickly, hoping to gulf down her small food portion fast enough to run up to her room without anymore unnecessary conversation between the family of three. It was all she wanted in that very moment, to finish up, do her homework, sleep, then repeat the same exact day every single day.

Maybe that's why she enjoyed Yachi's company so much.

Yachi made things entertaining. Yachi made her day different. She wasn't like a robot she constantly repeated the same things everyday and had the same exact schedule and dialogue— like a broken record.

"Have you spoken to any boys lately?"

Her [eye color] eyes widened.

The broken record had finally played a different song on the album, but it was not her favorite song. It was most definitely her least favorite song, the song she skipped whenever she could, the song she avoided to even listen to the instrumental of. She absolutely, positively, hated this song.

"Honey, you know she has no time for boys. She has better things to focus on," her father answered. His finger tapped the wood of their table, rhythmically, almost as if he had something to add to it— and he did, "she may not even be interested in dating boys."

"What does that imply?" [Name]'s eyebrows furrowed, head immediately turning to look at him.

"Nothing, sweetie, but there wouldn't be anything wrong with being uninterested in the male sex," her mother defended, giving a polite smile to the young girl.

[Name] froze, staring down at the little bit of food left on the plate. She had lost her appetite and she really didn't feel the need to continue eating, she felt like she was gonna be sick almost. She was uncomfortable, very uncomfortable.

"I am interested in men," the h/c haired girl immediately defended, "just not any of them at my school." Her fork fell to her plate, pushing her chair from the table quickly before grabbing the plate.

"May I be excused?" She asked almost impatiently, silently praying that her mother and father say 'yes' like usual due to her amounts of tedious school work. Their heads nodded in sync, not bothering to force their child into continuing the conversation. That's how they were, after all, they never cared too much to make [Name] continue to answer their questions.

Her body fell onto her bed immediately, letting out a sigh as she stared above at her ceiling. Out of all things her family could discuss, why did it have to be dating? It wasn't like she didn't have romantic interest's in men, she just wasn't interested in pursuing a relationship with one— simply because academics were her main focus.

Whatever, it's not like it was a big deal anyways, she wouldn't let foolish comments throw her off like that especially comments from her parents.

The buzz from her phone temporarily paused her thoughts, causing her to turn slightly to where the device laid charging on the nightstand. [Name] grabbed ahold of it, staring at her lockscreen that held two messages from both Yachi and a groupchat Yachi had added [Name] to a while back. [Name] smiled softly, glad that Yachi had messaged her at the perfect time due to the desperate need of a distraction.

What're you up to? :D

[Name] looked around, trying to determine as answer to her friend's question. She wasn't necessarily doing anything but lying in bed, but she was also aware of how boring the response would be if she had simply said it. The [hair color] haired girl just shrugged instead, typing out the answer anyways.

Nothing much, just lying down. You?

That was a good response, not as boring as she assumed it'd be. A satisfied hum was let out as she turned to look towards her bedroom door where her bag sat at. She didn't have homework to do, so all she could do anyways was just lie down and message Yachi. Her finger swiped away the group message and watched as the last clock digit turned and another message appeared at the bottom of her screen.

Just some homework :/ I'm also helping both Kageyama and Hinata with their homework in the chat.

[Name] debated if she should open the chat to help the two instead so that her friend could focus on her homework instead, but she didn't want to unintentionally intrude.

Would you like me to help?

Her gaze stood on her phone, patiently waiting for Yachi's responses to her messages, but then the patience turned to impatience after four minutes had gone by without a response. Their group message had gone quiet as well, causing [Name] to grow curious. Did she finish helping them? Did she decide to finally focus on her own work? She didn't feel like reading through all the messages, but maybe she would if Yachi didn't respond after the twenty minute mark.

Thankfully, it only took Yachi twelve minutes to message back.

Ah no worries :D I finished helping them! The two of them had called me so I helped them on call and now I'm finishing up my work!!

She had called them? Yachi and her had never called before... not that she really cared too much, but they had been good friends for about two months now and hadn't called once before.

Good luck.

[Name] had hoped her message didn't seem passive aggressive or boring, she just didn't want to be a bother while the blonde was working on her school work— after all, she definitely wouldn't want to be interrupted if she was doing her work. She waited for a moment, however, hoping that Yachi would encourage them to continue messaging until she would head to bed.

Thank you!

Right.

I'll message you once I finish <3
