《Levihan - Addicted To You》Chapter 2 - Expedition

After their training, almost all of the members of the survey corps consisting of 15 year olds, ate like pigs. It felt as if Levi had doubled the amount of training day after day. He became more strict and insisted they had short breaks. Fortunately enough, Hange was sometimes there to reverse his order and give them free time.
Erwin had announced the next expedition to be in a week's time. For all soldiers, it was a nightmare. The titans had been a proof of fear, depression and terror. They had brought constant suffering. When the walls guarding Shiganshina was breached, it was only a scar. Screaming parents, with dead kids, Crying children who had just lost their families to the titans. The sight had always been unpleasant whenever something that that happened. Titans ruled over them it was clear. There was no escaping. Not that they knew of it. They lived in fear of being the next person getting eaten and were certain only a few would come back alive this time.
Hange was loved by pretty much everyone. Yes she was insane, dirty, sometimes oblivious when occupied with experiments and a total lunatic obsessed with titans. Levi was the opposite. He was feared by everyone. All but Hange and Erwin, his obvious superior. And that could've brought hatred to him or maybe some were too scared of him to even hate him. Dinner went slower than usual today. The eyes of the 15-year olds looked dead.
"If you are all worried about the titans, we'll make it back alive!", Hange had tried cheering them up.
"Quit lying to them, four eyes. You'll be lucky to not get your leg bitten off. Right Eren?"
Eren's gaze moved from his untouched food to his captain. He still remembered when he stupidly chased after that Titan in a fit of rage watching his friends get killed one by one. Hange slapped Levi's arm glaring at the shorter man.
"They're traumatised enough, short-ass. Leave it."
Her voice was empowering. And Levi did leave it. They scrambled out of the dining hall, Sasha trying to fit as much food into her pockets and her mouth. Mikasa helped her too only to serve it to Eren in the end. They were now out of sight muttering outside and leaving Levi and Hange in the low lit room.

"Is it normal to feel excited and petrified at the same time?", Hange asked Levi placing her hand on the table for support and siting down.
"You were never normal in the first place. So what difference does it make?"
"You're answering my question with a question, Levi". She ran her hands through her hair, agitated, whilst grinning at the same time. She had gone mental again. It happened before any expedition. Levi knew Hange was someone clever and smart. Her intelligence was equivalent to his strength. But she was the most vulnerable. She was more likely to get devoured knowing she can get easily distracted. Anyone had the right to be insanely worried about her.
"You can rant on about your stupid experiments", Levi took a sit in front of her not looking the bit interested.
"You'll listen to my blabbers?"
"No I just need someone to be bore me to sleep"
Nevertheless, she still went on about her researches and experiments on Eren plus the ones she was planning to do in the future. Her exhaustion revealed itself to Levi when she dozed off midway a sentence. Her bangs covered her beautiful eyes and compared to her panicking miserable self, she looked pretty peaceful whilst asleep and Levi had no intentions changing her current state. He picked her up in his arms heading to her bedroom. On the way, of all time, he had bumped into Moblit.
"C-captain Levi!... I-I'll take her from here. Please", he stuttered only to have Levi glare at him in response. The two had never gotten along. The reason? It was only a mystery. After realising, Levi wasn't handing Hange over, Moblit cleared his throat and carried on down the hall going opposite direction from Levi. He couldn't bear looking at his sharp dull grey eyes, which was usually blue in the sunlight.
He placed her in bed disgusted at the sight of her room. This woman never kept anything clean. Did it hurt to just have your things organised?
"Tch"
He took her glasses off placing it her nearest table before doing what it was that had to be done.
Hange woke up in her own bed confused on how she got there. Last thing she remembered was talking to Levi about her researches. She looked around. The room was surprising clean. Of course. There was no way he would've left in a room looking like a pig's den. How embarrassing she thought to herself fixing her glasses properly. She got changed into a new uniform and left her room to look for Levi. She was on her way before Erwin had called for her.

After what seemed like ages, Hange met up with Levi. He greeted her with a curios face.
"Where have you been all day?"
"Erwin wanted to me to fill some paper"
"About what?"
"Researches. I hadn't told him about some earlier. He said it'll be useful for the expedition next week"
Levi nodded in response before going back to scolding anyone who got anything wrong.
"Jean you need to stop relying on tress to save you, you dumbass. Suppose we were in an open area. Without walls or that many trees. Anything could happen in that second. Titans are unpredictable. You could get grabbed by one of them. And give yourself some distance from them goddamn it"
Hange could only stand and giggle at his bickering. Funny having someone as short as in looking up to tall boys whilst telling them off for their way of approaching titans. And just like that, the week passed and it arrived to the day no one had waited for. At all.
The gates were signalled to be opened and horses were lined up next to each other. As soon as the world outside the walls was visible, Erwin gave a battle scream to lead the soldiers straight to hell. Hange's main goal this time was to capture a Titan alive. She desperately needed a mindless Titan. Not the Eren with a heart and brain. Not even miles away from the walls there had already been soldiers facing their doom. But there was no turning back. It was just charging straight ahead.
All was "going well" for the well trained soldier until anyone's worst fears came to life. Hange was in the arms of a Titan literally ready to be lunch. If she had just been careful not to get carried away by this one.
"That stupid cow", Levi gritted his teeth with the only choice of swooping in to save Hange's ass. He had used body parts of the titans for support but was sure not to completely rely on it. Like he taught Jean, titans were unpredictable. He could be killed any second. All he had to do was cut the nape. Easy enough. For Levi Ackerman. For any Ackerman. He was close. Just so close if only he didn't have that damn pocket knife which at the wrong time chose to cut through his trousers violently stabbing his leg.
This was just perfect.
He helpless fell to the ground praying that this was not how he would end. When he was about to lose all hope Mikasa sliced the nape of the Titan currently grabbing on to Hange. It all happened too fast. She steadily landed on the floor running to Levi's aid.
"A wagon should be here to get you soon", Jean informed his captain from up his horse. And like he said the wagon arrived sooner than later. Levi sighed. He had taught them well. Excluding the forced to work in harsh weather conditions.
"Get it out", Levi told Hange whilst on the wagon pointing at the knife still stuck in his leg.
"I can't"
"You're a fucking scientist, Four eyes. Get it out", he hissed.
"I really can't. Even you should know by now. You can't pull a weapon from the injured area. It's probably a deep cut. Let's wait till we get back"
"You make it sound like it easy bearing the pain. Why can't you get it out now"
"Because you'll have a huge amount of blood loss"
Levi shut his eyes in pain as Erwin rode beside them to assure them he was still there.
"I should've just let you get eaten by that Titan", he snarled before decided to just quietly endure the pain and wait for them to return back to the walls. And Hange was reluctant about leaving Levi's side.
He had risked his life to save her. So it's rather she sits there getting insulted by him and abandon him.
