《》Chapter 31: Kiss

"Whoever it was, he left his stink behind. We'll handle it from here." Jacob said as he came out of the Swan house. "You don't need to handle anything." Edward gritted out. "I couldn't care less what you need." Jacob sneered. Edward rolled his eyes and grabbed Bella's hand, "Okay, We're done here." He said. Jacob grabbed her other hand, "No, your done." Jacob argued.
Genesis rolled her eyes from beside Carlisle's car and ran over to grab Jacob. "Jake, calm down. Both of you. We need all of your help and Jacob's. Please, try to get along for mine and Bella's sake?" Genesis begged. She was tired of seeing Jacob fight over Bella. The two finally came to an agreement and Genesis sighed, walking back over to Carlisle. "They're giving me grey hairs and high blood pressure. I'm gonna have a heart attack soon I swear." She said as she rubbed her face. Carlisle shook his head and hugged her tightly.
Days went on with the wolves and vampires taking shifts. No one liked it. Sam and Carlisle managed only because the two were the only ones that didn't despise each other. Carlisle still wasn't happy with Jacob, but Jacob didn't know that since he was yet to be told about Genesis and Carlisle's relationship. At this point, he was just oblivious. It's not like they tried to hide it. They had no reason to since Charlie already knew.
Genesis and Bella were in the car with Edward, they were heading to meet Jacob so Edward could hunt. Genesis insisted on staying with Carlisle, but Edward begged her to go with Bella so she could make sure nothing happened. Honestly, what would she even be able to do? Die first? She's not exactly Batman over here, ready to save the day in case Bella was in danger. Was she going to try to? Yes. Has it ever worked in the past? No.
Edward stopped on the road where Jacob was currently parked. Genesis got out of the car and walked over to Jacob. "Hey, Jake." She smiled. Jacob smiled back, "Hey gorgeous." He smirked and gave her a hug, picking her up because she was short. "Jake! Let me go!" She pouted. He laughed and set her down as Bella walked up to him. He gave her a hug and they talked about some 'party' tonight.
"Jacob's a liar. That was not a party. That was a blatant 'vampires are evil and wolves are superior' story." Genesis sighed at Bella's anger as Edward opened the door for them at the Cullen house. They walked upstairs, hearing the news reporting about deaths in Seattle. "It takes more than one of our kind to do that kind of damage." Jasper said as they entered the room. "Newborns." Edward commented.
"Newborns? Like new vampires?" Bella questioned. "Yes. It's when we're at our most viscous." Jasper explained. "This wasn't random." Genesis stated. Carlisle nodded. "Someone's creating an army." He said. "Well, we're definitely going to Seattle now." Emmett said as he stood up. "An army of vampires?" Bella questioned. "They're being made to fight someone." Jasper answered.
"We're the only clan close enough." Edward commented. "Regardless of why they were made, if we don't put a stop to them, the Volturi will." Carlisle said, "I'm surprised they've let it go on this long." He sighed. "Maybe they're behind it." Edward suggested. "In Italy, I read Aro's mind, he want me and Alice to join him. He thinks we'll add to his power." He then glanced over at Genesis,

"He also wants Genesis turned. He believes that she would be a great asset to him." He continues, "He knows we'll never choose him if our family is still alive." He finished. "An army could solve that for him." Jasper commented. "Edward, I don't think we should wait until graduation." Bella stated. "You guys need to change us now." She continued. "Bella, no." Edward sighed.
"We're liability's now when we could be an asset." She argued. "You'd be a bigger liability as a new born." Jasper said, "you'd be unable to control your instincts, therefore being an easy target." He explained. "There's also your mother and father, imagine how terrible it would be for them if you two suddenly disappeared." Carlisle said. Emmett looked around between everyone,
"We're still gonna kick someone's ass, right?"
Bella and Genesis stepped inside the kitchen where Charlie sat at the table reading over some case files on Riley Biers. "Hey, have you ate dinner yet?" Bella asked. "Um, no, I haven't. This kid, Riley Biers, disappeared over a year ago." He sighed. "You think they should just give up?" Bella asked. "I wouldn't." Genesis commented. "I wouldn't give up either if it were either of you." He said. "Not ever."
Genesis knew how those words affected Bella. She apparently didn't think that Charlie loved them enough to look for them. Any good parent would look for their child if they disappeared. Genesis didn't know how to feel about this whole thing. She loved Carlisle with everything in her, and her new family, but could she really hurt her parents like this?
Genesis laid down next to Carlisle on her bed. "I don't want to hurt them, Carlisle." She said. "Then don't." He said. "But I can't live without you or our family." She sighed. A smile spread across Carlisle's face. "What?" She asked. "I love how you refer to them as 'our family'." He confessed. Genesis blushed and hid her face in her hands. She couldn't believe that she had slipped up, again.
It was true, though. Genesis saw the Cullen's as her family. The kids were calling her mom for crying out loud! Genesis sighed, "I'm sorry." She apologized. He looked down at her confused. "Why are you apologizing?" He asked. "Bella and I keep putting you guys in danger. I'd say to leave us, but I don't want Bella to die either." She explained. Carlisle held her tight to his chest.
"I would go through a thousand wars to save you. Don't talk about yourself as if it won't matter if you die." He scolded. Genesis nodded and looked up to him. She gave him a kiss, happy to be in his arms for the time being. She was cherishing the moments she had with him. She didn't know if she'd be alive tomorrow, or next week. She could die at any moment either from Victoria or a stress induced heart attack.
For now, she was happy.
Genesis, Bella, and Jacob walked along side a lake on the reservation, soaking in all the beauty it held. "It's so beautiful here." Bella said, voicing their thoughts. "So, Alice is throwing a graduation party." Genesis brought up, "Which, you're invited to." She smiled. "Oh, yeah. Wait here, I'll go get your invitation." Bella said and hurried off back to Jacob's truck. Jacob gave Genesis a look that said 'are you serious', and Genesis sighed.

"I know you don't like them, but their my family now. You could at least try to be friendly." Genesis pouted. Jacob stopped and turned to her, "Yeah, I've been meaning to ask about that. I know why Bella is always around them, since she's with one of them, but, why are you? Because of Bella?" He asked. Genesis sighed and looked down. Genesis was never good at telling a lie. She despised liars, actually. She couldn't lie to Jacob.
"Jake, I'm with one of them too." She confessed. Jacob's face dropped and then went into one of pure rage, "Are you serious?! Bella is one thing, but you?! I thought you were smarter than that!" He gritted out. "Jacob, I love him." Genesis argues calmly. She wasn't trying to get his claws sliced into her again. She stopped Carlisle once, she doesn't think she would be able to stop him again.
Jacob huffed, seeing the slight fear in her eyes, he tried to calm down. "Who is it?" He grumbled. "Carlisle." She answered truthfully. There was a part of Jacob that was relieved it was him out of all the others, but he was more jealous than relieved. He put his head down and looked back up at her, "I didn't want to do it this way, but I don't see any other way to tell you." Jacob said as he grabbed her hand, pulling her towards him.
"Jacob, what are you doing?" Genesis stuttered, kind of panicked. "Genesis, I love you." He confessed. Her eyes widened as his lips forced their way onto hers. She tried to pull away, but his grip was strong. It reminded her of what happened to her all those years ago. Tears escaped her eyes as she began thrashing around in his grip. He finally let go and she fell to the ground. His eyes widened as she started scurrying away from him.
There was yelling in the distance, Genesis instantly recognizing it as Bella. Genesis finally got to her feet and she ran to Bella who just watched all of this go down. "Genesis! Oh my God!" Bella exclaimed as she saw her sister sobbing and panicking. She knew what had caused this. Genesis had a form of PTSD, and Jacob just triggered it. Bella threw the invitation to the ground and ran up to Jacob, punching him in the face, which on resulted in her only hurting herself.
Bella furiously went back to Genesis, Jacob calling out to them as they left. "Take us home, right now!" Bella ordered. The girls got in the back of the truck, Bella refusing to even look at Jacob. Bella held Genesis as she sobbed into her knees. Bella has never seen Genesis this way. Broken and vulnerable. It just made her angrier at Jacob for what he did. She didn't know what to do. She's never head to comfort Genesis before. It was always the other way around.
That made Bella upset with herself. The person that has been there through everything, literally everything for her needed her, and she couldn't help her. What kind of sister was she? She felt so selfish that she doesn't even feel like she deserves to be called Genesis's sister. A tear went down Bella's face as the truck pulled into the driveway. She immediately noticed Carlisle's car and Emmett's Jeep pull up.
Bella watched as Edward sped over to Jacob while Carlisle sped over to them. One look at Genesis and and Emmett was already out of the Jeep, holding Carlisle back. Bella gasped and shook Genesis, "Genesis, please, I know you're hurting but Carlisle's going to kill Jacob if you don't do something!" Bella exclaimed. Genesis's head shot up and she stood up, hazily jumping off the truck. She landed on her hands and knees, her mind too fuzzy at the moment to actually make her function properly.
She shook her head and stood up, grabbing Carlisle's waist. "Carlisle, I know your angry, but please calm down. I'm okay. I'm fine, look at me." She soothed. Carlisle finally stopped and Emmett backed away a bit just in case he went for it again. Jacob and Edward were arguing off to the side, and at some point Jacob confessed that he loves both the girls, only making both girls sick.
Genesis grabbed Carlisle's face and made him look at her, trying to distract him from the conversation. "Carlisle, you're better than this. Don't doing anything you'll regret. I'm alright. I was just shaken up a bit, okay?" She assured. Finally, Charlie came outside, hearing all the fuss. Emmett disappeared behind his Jeep so Charlie wouldn't question too much. "What the hell is happening out here?" He asked.
A small, tense filled silence passed until Jacob finally spoke, "I kissed Genesis." He confessed. Charlie's eyebrows rose and he looked over to Genesis and Carlisle. Charlie would be lying if he said he didn't like the two together. He didn't know much about their relationship, but the smile Genesis always has is proof enough that Carlisle is good for her. And he could tell just from Carlisle being there right now that Carlisle cared a lot about his daughter. So, he was not exactly pleased with Jacob's decision.
"Did you know she was with him?" Charlie asked, trying to give the boy the benefit of the doubt. Jacob nodded. Charlie rolled his eyes. He was going to talk to Billy later about this. "Bella broke her hand punching him." Edward commented angrily, answering the unasked question of why he was there. Charlie's eyebrows furrowed. "I'll treat her back at our house, if it's okay with you?" Carlisle offered, finally calm enough to speak.
"Please."
A/N
This chapter was shit, and I'm sorry it took me so long to write it. I never knew true writers block until I got to Eclipse. I had to rewatch it three times and even then I have it paused right now because I forgot again. Don't mind me, I'm running on three brain cells.

Flame Beneath The Snowfall
Alto is a world governed by Tones. Magic, as one might call it. Manifested through deep mental and physical conditioning, one can control the Tones in a way that is unique to them. The power to store items in gems, transfer life, affect a person's mind, and even the more primal abilities such as control of the elements. Those who have these supernatural abilities are called 'Vassals.' People that fully manifest their abilities are not as common as one might think, and not all Vassals acquire their ability through practice, given if conditions are met. In fact, those who had received much trauma manifest the Tones more frequently, albeit spontaneously. However, the rare kind of Vassals are those who manifest it from childhood. A gift, but not without its repercussions. Alto is stuck in a transitional era, where the line between modern and dated technology is blurred. One can travel to a city that has a tall skyline, bustling with people in sophisticated clothing, or a mere town governed by a lord, all the while riding on a powered vehicle. Cultures vary: Some turn to the more dated practices such as castes, others are more inclined to set equal footing on their people, led by nobility. Some are dedicated to become scholars, studying Alto's Tones, while others set foot on hunts, protecting lone towns from the creatures of some of the still-untamed lands. And the Vassals? Those willing are took under The Organization, an elusive group, its presence said to permeate all throughout Alto, taking care of Rogue Vassals that abuse their abilities and other businesses related to their side. But what is this story all about, you may ask? Well, set your sights on the upper portions of this huge landmass that is Alto. Yes, the 'whole' world is called Alto, but that is because the majority of the known people live on this large continent. Relieve yourself of the worrying tensions everywhere, and see the white snow. Trace the piercing mountaintops and focus your eyes between the valley. A town sits there. Mido. After realizing that the memories only left in his mind was the night of his town's imminent destruction in flames, a boy finds himself grasping for every fiber of his life as he lays down flat on the ground. Beneath him was soot mixed with the white snow. Fortunately, a group of investigators, who were supposed to answer their call for help, saved him from his sorry state. With a newfound second wind, but hampered by his loss of memory, he must solve his own case: Who had the audacity to set Mido, his town, aflame? Flame Beneath the Snowfall focuses on action, with a sense of adventure, but mostly the discovery of an outside world, and the protagonist's exposure to it. Add in a whisk of soft magical elements, and you get a story that I hope will be interesting to the readers. That is not to say that my work is without the sense of unnerving atmosphere, however. As a forewarning, there are elements of gore, horror, minor elements of mental trauma, etc. so it is not for all audiences. *The book is already completed. Although I have plans to continue the story (it would have to involve much larger scope in terms of world-building), I have yet to decide when to start the next entry.
