《》Chapter 28: Scars

Genesis sat on the couch with Rosalie in front of her on the floor and Carlisle by her side. They were watching TV as Genesis braided Rosalie's hair. Genesis had her long dark hair in a side braid from Rosalie, so she decided to return the favor. Alice, Jasper, and Emmett were out in the woods, Chandlers and Edward and Bella were off somewhere on their own.
Genesis had the idea of the rest of them spending time together. The weather was nice out, and the trees covered the sun so they wouldn't become, what she liked to call them, speedy disco balls. So, of course, everyone thought that was a great idea. It sounded nice to finally have a fun day out without some kind of threat lurking around or fear of her being harmed, since they were on their land.
Genesis made a mental note to herself to one, make it up to Edward and Bella, and two, to hang out with the wolves. She couldn't neglect the wolves, especially since they were there for her and her sister in their time of need. She had gotten multiple texts from Sam, Emily, and Paul, telling her that she was missed and that they wanted to see her soon. She had also gotten texts from Jacob. He told her how he forgave her for leaving and that he wanted to talk to her, alone.
Genesis dreaded talking to him again. She knew how he felt about her, but he didn't know about her and Carlisle. She also dreaded another thing. Alice wanted to see her scars when she gets back. Alice excused it as her wanting to dress Genesis up for where they were going, which was true, but she told Genesis that she wanted to see them. Genesis knew that she was going to have to tell the others. She can't wear t shirts forever.
What worried her most was Carlisle's reaction. She saw how he reacted to James. How would he react if he knew that she was hanging around a guy that not only liked her, but hurt her? She knew it wasn't Jacob's fault that he hurt her. Heck, it wasn't his fault that he had feelings for her and her sister. You can't help who you fall for.
She finally finished Rosalie's hair and smiled at how perfect the style looked on her. Rosalie looked up and smiled brightly at her, telling her thank you before she left to go and see her masterpiece. Genesis grabbed Carlisle's hand, pulling his attention away from the TV. He smiled at her lovingly and she gave him a sweet kiss on the cheek.
"You missed." He pouted. Genesis giggled and quickly stood up and ran out of the room. She was teasing him and she knew it. It was silly, running from someone who has super speed, but she did knew what to do. She hid in his room and grabbed one of his sweaters, slipping it over her small body and positioned herself in a corner, crouching down and sitting in a position where her legs were to her chest. She slipped her legs in the sweater and hid her head in her knees.
This way, Carlisle would only really be able to smell his own scent. Meanwhile, Carlisle was speeding around the house, utterly confused as to how he couldn't smell the girl. He sped to his room and stood confused. How could she have gotten away so fast that he couldn't smell her anymore? That's impossible. He stood in the center of the room and finally saw the little ball of fabric that was Genesis. He smirked. She was smart.

She peeked her head up and made eye contact with him. Carlisle could have cried. She was so cute! "Clever. But I'll always find you." He teased as he crouched down in front of her. Suddenly, she jumped on him, taking him by surprise and took him off balance. He fell backwards and she sat on top of him, smiling at him triumphantly. She leaned down and gave him a sweet kiss, that turned a little heated.
Carlisle turned her on her back quickly, but gently. But, apparently not gently enough. Right when her back hit the floor, she sucked in a breath, making Carlisle pause and look at her worriedly. He knew her couldn't have hurt her, he was way too gentle when he flipped her over. "Genesis?" He questioned. Genesis's eyes widened in shock. What was she going to do? She couldn't lie to him.
He stood up, help her up as well. She was about to say something when Alice came through the door. "I need mom!" Alice said quickly. She sped over to Genesis, picking her up and speeding off to her room and locking the door. Alice put her down and sighed in relief. "I'm so glad we weren't that far away. The vision I saw of you showing him was not pretty." She said.
Genesis's eyes widened. What was she going to do? She couldn't keep it hidden forever, but she also couldn't let Carlisle kill Jacob. "I have to tell him and the others one day, Alice. I don't keep secrets away from the people I love." Genesis sighed. "I know, I know. But, today will not be that day." Alice said. "Fine. But, can I at least tell Esme and Rose? They're more understanding." Genesis pleaded, trying to get this secret out as quick as possible.
Alice nodded and called Esme and Rosalie into her room, much to the confusion of the boys. Thankfully, the boys let them be, assuming that they're getting dressed. Which was somewhat true. Rosalie and Esme stood with confused faces and Alice hopped a bit with anxiety. She didn't want to see Genesis hurt, but she also wanted to see how bad it was. Genesis sighed and turned around. She pulled off her shirt and heard gasps from behind her.
She turned her head to see Alice shocked, Esme concerned, and Rosalie enraged. Rosalie spoke first, "Which one of them mutts did this?!" She screamed. Genesis went white. She knows the boys heard that. As if on cue, there was a hard knock at the door. "Rose? What the hell is going on in there?" Emmett's loud voice came from the door. Genesis's breath became hard. She was utterly terrified.
"Rose! She didn't want to tell them yet!" Alice said. Rosalie's eyes softened, but her anger was still there. "They should know! Especially Carlisle! They shouldn't be able to get away with this!" She yelled in reason. "It was an accident!" Genesis tried to defend. "You could have been killed." Esme spoke up. Esme wasn't the kind of person that liked violence of any kind, but even she wanted a go at this beast.
"Who did it?" Rosalie demanded. Genesis stayed silent, not liking where this was going. "Who was it, mom?!" She demanded again but louder. Genesis knew the boys were right outside the door, and she knew there was no escaping this. "Jacob! It was Jacob, alright?!" She cried. Rosalie paused for a second and instantly blew up in anger yet again, "Jacob?! Are you serious?! The guy that's practically in love with both you and Bella?!" She screamed.

Genesis was speechless. She didn't think that it was going to go down this way. "Rose, I-" Genesis got cut off by the door slamming open. Genesis's eyes widened in horror. Rosalie had paced around the room and Genesis had followed her, so now her back was exposed to the boys as they stood in the doorway. Genesis moved to turn around but Rosalie held her in place.
"Look at what that mutt did!" She yelled. Alice quickly blocked the door, already knowing what's going to happen next if she lets any of them through. Edward had apparently gotten home some time before Rosalie went off, and he was kind of scared of all the thoughts in the room. The room was silent apart from Genesis's fast breaths. She was terrified. She knew that if they ever found out that they would be furious, but this was down right seething.
Carlisle stepped forward, trying to calm himself down. Genesis froze in terror when his icy cold fingers touched the scar. She flinched a bit when he examined it further with his hand. She wished she didn't. Carlisle was instantly through the window. He didn't even bother trying to get through Alice, he was pissed. "Guys, I know you're mad, but breaking that treaty is not an option!" Genesis yelled.
Rosalie had finally realized why she didn't tell him and made a mental not to apologize to Genesis later. But first, she put Genesis on her back and jumped out of the broken window and after Carlisle with everyone behind her. Edward, being the fastest, caught up to Carlisle first. But, even Edward couldn't stop his rage. Not this time. Carlisle pushes Edward into a clear spot, knowing that it wouldn't hurt him.
He didn't want to hurt him, he wanted to hurt Jacob like he hurt Genesis. He was on a mission. Rosalie gained up on him right at the cliff and he jumped. At the last second, Genesis jumped too, crashing into him. The two landed on the other side and Genesis instantly heard the growls of the wolves. Carlisle, having snapped out of it once Genesis jumped on him, realized his mistake.
Genesis positioned herself to cover Carlisle's head, having her arms around his neck, with his head in her chest. It was kind of awkward, seeing as that she was still shirtless, but, with the tense situation, she didn't even care. Carlisle's head wasn't exposed, so the wolves couldn't kill him without hurting her. The wolves ran into the forest and quickly changed, coming back to ask what was happening.
Sam stood a bit away from them, looking at Genesis with a confused expression. "You better have a good reason for this. You're lucky you're my close friend or I wouldn't even ask. What the hell?" Sam questioned. Genesis sighed, "He saw the scars." She explained. Sam's hard face softened and he sighed, understanding what was happening. Sam signaled the others to go. "Will you leave him be?" She asked him.
He nodded. Genesis moved off of him and sat on his lap. "On behalf of Jacob, I really am sorry about what happened." Sam told Carlisle at an attempt to ease his anger. Obviously, it didn't really work, but Carlisle didn't exactly want to cause a war. Carlisle sighed and sat up, looking at them man. "I'm sorry for violating the treaty." He apologized. Sam shook his head, "I'd rather it be you than one of the others to be honest. I know your a good man, and I can respect you trying to avenge Genesis. If Genesis is with you, you're welcome across any time. Just, please don't kill Jacob." He smiled.
Sam gave the two a nod and headed off into the woods. Carlisle looked shocked as Genesis sighed in relief. She grabbed his hand, "Please take me back over." She pleaded. He nodded his head and took her in his arms, jumping back over to the others. "Did that really just happen?" Emmett asked. Genesis huffed out a laugh. "I'm sorry." Carlisle apologized to her. She grabbed his hand, "Hey, as long as you didn't kill anyone, there's nothing to apologize for." She smiled.
He gave her a smile back. "Now, I don't want any of you beating up Jacob or killing him." She scolded the family. They all looked at each other and eventually agreed. She smiled. She was happy that they cared so much about her. Carlisle put her on his back and sped her back to the house and back into Alice's room. Genesis giggled when she saw the smashed glass. Carlisle sighed, "I really need to control my temper." He said. Genesis shook her head and got off of him.
"You're fine. Now, let's get this cleaned so we can have our family time." She smiled. Carlisle grabbed her hand and stopped her, looking back at her with soft eyes. He had noticed her other scars on her stomach. Some, he knew, were from what happened to her. But, he knew what the others were. They looked old, so he wasn't too upset, but, he still wasn't pleased. Carlisle took his sweater that she had earlier off the floor and gave it to her.
After putting it on, he gave her a tight hug. "Please, don't hurt yourself again." He pleaded. She smiled and hugged him back tightly. "I won't. I promise." She said. He smiled and let her go. She pulled away and looked down at the glass. She bent down to clean some up when he grabbed her hand and pulled her back up. "If I've said it once, I've said it a million times," he began, taking the piece of glass that she somehow managed to grab.
"No glass."
