After my coffee, I finished my first few classes and ate lunch before heading to literature.

I swear to god, if he calls on me, I will actually throw my textbook across the room.

I've barley read the book we're supposed to be reading.

I've been reading my fantastic books instead. Their more enjoyable, in more ways than one.

I logged into my banking account and saw that the reason my card was declined, was because it expired over a month ago. I ordered a new one and had to put in new information that took up most of my lunch time.

I walk into my classroom and take a seat where Chloe and I normally sit. She walks in shortly after, sporting black ripped jeans, knee high black boots, and a sage green knitted sweater with her hair done in curls.

If anyone knows casual New York fashion, it's Chloe.

"Hi," she whispers, a bright smile on her face. I wave to her as she sits next to me.

"I'm not ready for this," she whines as she pulls out her notebook and pens.

"Yeah, me either." I take a deep breath in preparation.

"Good afternoon," my professor starts, "As you all know, after the Great Gatsby is finished we will begin our section of Hamlet. I hope you all have those books purchased already and have begun reading because we will begin those lessons next week."

I take another deep breath to release my stress.

"I will also want full annotations done to Hamlet by the end of the semester as your partial final grade," he says and everyone in the class groans, including Chloe beside me.

"Yeah, yeah I get it," he hushes us, "We left off with our class character analysis last class, can someone remind me who we left off on?"

Chloe raises her hand, "Nick."

"Thank you Miss Connors."

My eyes begin to feel heavy already and I've only been in this classroom for two minutes.

"Mr. Osteen, you left off on Jay Gatsby. How does his character contrast with Nick Carraway?"

He begins to write what appears to be a large chart in purple marker on the board.

"Their both outsiders in wealthy communities of the East and West Egg," the guy says. He sounds like he's further behind me from where I sit.

"Well said," the professor says, writing the response down in a section of the chart.

"Nick is also familiar with the wealthy crowd because of his own families privilege and his relation to Daisy," the guy continues.

"Hey," Chloe whispers and nudges my arm. I force my eyes awake.

"Yes?"

"Did you, by any chance, speak with a Carter Osteen at all?"

I tense.

"A Carter, yes, earlier this morning, but I don't know his last name," I whisper in response. "Why?"

She nods looking behind me, "Because he's been staring at the back of your head for the past 2 minutes."

What?

I quickly spin and look around, until low and behold, coffee shop Carter is making direct eye contact with me.

I completely freeze and feel my eyes widen.

No fucking way.

He's relaxed in his seat as he looks at me, but his expression is different. His blue eyes are completely set on mine. Not sweet and generous like this morning.

Something else was swirling in those eyes, but I was too effing far to see what it was.

I spin back around.

Yeah, I'm awake now.

"Uh, do you care to explain this to me?" Chloe whispered to me, slamming her pencil down.

"I met him at a cafe this morning and he paid for my coffee. That was it," I confessed.

She still didn't look satisfied.

"There's more that your ass isn't telling me," she crosses her arms over her should, her red waves flipping with the movement.

"I swear!" I whisper yell and the professor goes quiet.

I look over to see him staring at me.

"Miss Ivy, care to share your conversation with us?"

I freeze. Not this shit again, please.

"No. Sorry," I say, growing quiet.

He turns to Chloe, "Miss Connors?"

She shakes her head.

"Are you sure?"

I hold back an eye roll, "Yes."

He back turns around and I hold back the urge to flip him off.

I somehow feel those blue eyes burning into my back.

What does this guy want?

I met him at a coffee shop for god sake, and he paid for my coffee. How the hell can he be into me from that?

30 minutes of miserable sitting later, the bell rings indicating the end of class.

Chloe and I grab our things and start to walk out, when a voice from behind me says my name.

That voice.

"'Mandy."

I spin and see Carter, his eyes bright and his face still as attractive as this morning.

"Yes?"

"I thought I saw you around," he said, pulling out his arm in front of my to hold the door open for Chloe and I.

"Chloe, right?" He asks Chloe. She nods, a bright smile forming in her face.

"I've heard about you too," he says with a gentle smile.

"What do you need, Carter?" I ask growing annoyed. Can this guy leave me alone?

"What? I can't say hi to a friend now?" He smirks, walking next to me. I keep my head straight as we walk out of the building.

He presence next to me makes my skin heat up again like this morning.

What the fuck.

"Friends? We just met this morning," I snap back. Carter only smiles bright from what I can see out of the corner of my eye.

"Hey I'm gonna go meet up with Lilly and her friends for a few, I'll leave you guys to it," Chloe says smiling.

I turn to her and feel my eyes widen. I silently pray hoping she'll get the hint.

Please don't leave me. Please, I swear to God.

She winks at me and walks off.

You've got to be joking.

"We may have just met but something tells me we hit it off so, friends seems like a decent title to say the least," Carter says. I internally roll my eyes before turning back around and plastering a smart ass smile on my lips.

"Carter, we're not friends. I'm sure you have plenty friends, but I am certainly not one of them," I say, attempting to hold my patience in.

He gives me that annoying fucking smirk again, "Of course I have friends, but I want to be friends with you specifically."

I close my eyes in frustration.

One more fucking second and I may just kick him in the shin.

"It was nice meeting you, but no," I say walking off.

"We'll see about that," I hear behind me.

I continue walking, not giving him my time.

He pisses me off. A lot.

Friends? Fuck no. Not happening.

I make my way to my residence hall, looking behind me a few times to make sure he's not following me.

I wouldn't put it past him honestly.

I don't like the effect he has on me and I certainly do not like his entitlement.

I decide to get some homework done when I get back to my dorm and have some food.

Friends?

Not happening.
