《KATANA ~ a MHA fanfic》Chapter 17 - Two mysteries

In a moment, the vision ended but Katana still held onto her head. The pounding was the worst she'd ever felt. They only seemed to get worse by every time it happened and neither she nor Anna understood why or how. She reached for the glass of water in front of her and drank. As she was drinking the water, she hadn't noticed Anna rolling in their detective board back to the living room. She flipped the board to the empty side and started to write things down on notes.
"What are you doing?" Katana asked in a weak voice.
"I am writing down everything you've seen in your visions so far. You're forgetting that we don't just have one mystery to solve in this city, there's one going on in your head as well." her sister answered as she continued to write things down and pin them to the board.
"And we have to solve it."
Katana put her glass down from her shaking hand and took a deep breath. One hand was still on her head as she closed her eyes and began telling Anna what she saw in todays vision.
"...And I'm certain that those eyes were his."
"But it makes no sense? Why would he be there?" Anna asked as she was putting up the new notes on the board.
"Wait, give me a second..." the white haired girl said and took out her phone. Anna continued to add the information to the board until her sister spoke up again.
"Here! They were all wearing this, which means I saw some kind of school event I'm guessing." Katana handed her phone over to the black haired assassin who started to do some research of her own.
"What are you doing?" Katana asked and tried to sneak a peak at the phone.

"I've heard about this. It's that dumb hero school, they have a quirk tournament of some sort every year." she handed Katanas phone back and pointed at the clothes they were wearing and the place they were at.
"Yes! That's definitely the arena I saw."
"Interesting. Why would you see that in your vision?"
The girls went quiet and started to think of what it could be. After a few minutes, Anna wrote something down on another note but quickly crumpled it up and threw it at the trash can.
"What was that?" Katana asked and went ahead to pick the note up.
"Kat?" before the blue eyed girl could pick the paper up, her sister pulled on her arm and gestured for her to sit down. Katana was quiet about it and listened to what Anna had to say.
"Do you remember how about 4 years ago now, dad and I took you in... and how you told us you couldn't remember anything about yourself?"
Katana nodded and waited for the black haired assassin to proceed.
"What if... and hear me out... these visions are actually memories?"
"I think I would know if it was memories, Anna." Katana answered with an emotionless look on her face. She stood up and walked towards a window.
"I'm going out for air."
Anna sighed and leaned back on the couch. It was just a thought, but it scared the both of them that it could be true. Everything they knew would be thrown out the window if she was getting her memories back. Both were just hoping that the other wouldn't forget that they're family, no matter what.

Katana found herself sitting on the same rooftop she was on the other day. The sun was setting, giving the sky a beautiful orange colour once again. The walk over there was a lot for her. What Anna said terrified her, cause what would she do if she found out about who she really was?

As her thoughts were all over the place, she finally sat down, leaned back and breathed.
Like last time, she didn't wear any of her normal clothes and gear. Just a plain sweatshirt and shorts. She took out her ponytail and massaged her head a bit, letting her hair blow in the cold breeze as she enjoyed the view.
"Going back to the corner, where I first saw you. I'm gonna camp in my sleeping bag, I'm not gonna move."
Katana started singing. She didn't know why but this song suddenly came to her mind. Maybe because it had to do with someone lost in their own feelings, which she could relate to in this moment. She inhaled and exhaled and continued to sing louder.
"Got some words on cardboard, got your picture in my hand saying: if you see this girl can you tell her where I am?"
What she didn't know was that just on the building below her, was Bakugo sitting, enjoying the sunset as well. He snapped out of his thoughts when he heard someone singing the song Zella used to sing when they were up here. He didn't even bother to follow the sound, to him it felt like someone was messing with his head once again. Her angelic voice was too much for him to take, even a tear escaped his face.
So instead, he just stood up and yelled "Shut up!" and then sat back down, wiping his tear away.
Katana was offended. If she wanted to sing she was going to sing.
"I know it makes no sense but what else can I do, how can I move on when I'm still in love with you?"
Bakugo gritted his teeth and clenched his fists. More and more tears were escaping his eyes as he closed them and tried to think of anything but that singing.
"Cause if one day you wake up and find that you're missing me..." Katana was singing even louder now, standing up and stretching her arms out dramatically. She couldn't explain what she was feeling, so she let it all out in the form of this song.
Bakugo opened up his eyes, even more tears streaming down his face.
"This song. This stupid, damn song. Who the fuck is playing mind games with me and is singing it?" he sat there thinking, angry at the thought.
He looked up and he could've sworn he saw white hair blowing in the wind. But when he blinked twice, it was gone. The ash blonde punched the ground and looked up to his bloody knuckles.
"It was those two brats. Everything went down hill when they arrived. We better work smart now so these cases can be over with."

Epoch: An NPC's Tale
Epoch is a slow-burn LitRPG/Gamelit novel that tells the story of Luke, later named Lucius—a natural inhabitant of the game-like realm of Elyssia where thousands upon thousands of detached, virtually unkillable entities known as the Players were suddenly introduced right after the dusk of the magnificent Age of Heroes. Shortly after the Players arrived, the balance of power in Elyssia instantly shifted. Kingdoms fell, wars were waged, alliances between races were made, and Lucius, after ten years of training in captivity, found himself being used as a pawn in a prophecy that he had no intention to fulfill. With aspirations and desires of his own, Lucius must find a way to cautiously adapt to the drastic changes in the very foundations of the realm after being sent 300 years into a future that was forever altered by the outcome of the war that his captors had lost and the Players won in a victory that resounded throughout the ages, all for a terrible price. Author's Note As an avid fan of the LitRPG genre myself, I wrote this novel with character progression, heavy Gamelit elements, and some degree of world-building in mind. If you like these, please feel free to give this novel a try. Oh, and the MC is also an NPC, in a sense. And wait, isn't this also an isekai story? Well, it's all a bit complicated to explain here. Maybe you should start reading now?

Cry of the Mer Extras
A collection of Cry of the Mer shorts and extras. This will mostly be a series of scenes from Luna's point of view. Things from her past and scenes that have already happened, but from the different perspectives. It may also include the same for other characters such as a look into the pasts of Katie and Riley as well. Basically all the world building stuff there isnt time for in the main plot. This is mostly what I'll be writing on my phone on my breaks at work to keep readers having some content as I cannot work on Heart of a Mer while there. Most of you know the situation already, so this is my compromise for less main content. I do take requests if there's something specific you want to see.
