《KATANA ~ a MHA fanfic》Chapter 12 - Underneath the mask

The blue eyed assassin walked towards her sister to copy her power. But before she could tap her shoulder, Anna moved away.
"Wait! Are you sure the only way you can copy someones power is by touching them? Why don't you stand over there and try to copy my quirk."
Katana nodded and backed away. She closed her eyes and focused all her energy in her power. She imagined that she touched Annas shoulder to help her reach her quirks power. The white haired girl slowly opened her eyes and looked at her sister who was curious to see if she had succeeded.
"Try to use it on me." Anna said and braced herself.
She made eye contact with her black haired sister and activated the quirk. Anna was of course feeling dizzy and losing balance.
"It worked! I can't believe it!" Katana happily jumped over to her sister and gave her a hug.
"Wait, how do you turn it off Anna???"
"You just do." Anna said annoyed at the fact that her own quirk was used against her.
Katana focused and stopped the dizzy spell over Anna.
"Whoops." the white haired assassin said with one hand on her neck and smiled.

The two sisters began to spar for a while. After that, they practiced some tricks with their quirks and planned what to do next in their mission. Katana had learned that she can copy someone's power just by having eye contact with them or by touching them. Both of them also learned how to control how dizzy their opponent is.
A few hours later they went back inside and ate some food. Their father was a rich man yes, and there was always someone cooking for them, but the sisters loved cooking together when they had time. It was a simple and normal thing that they've grown to appreciate since "normal" wasn't really their lives.

Katana suddenly dropped her plate and held her head. It was another strong headache, and she knew what was next. So did her sister.
"Stay calm, I'll get you some water and a pillow you can squeeze." Anna said and rushed to do so. Katana began telling her about what she was seeing.
"I'm moving towards a big crowd. I can't hear what anyone is saying but there's a lot of worry in the air. Somehow this person has pushed pass everybody and are standing in front of... a monster? I don't know, It's a dark blob with eyes and a big mouth."
Katana stopped and was in even more pain than the last time. She squeezed the pillow Anna gave her so hard that it was about to pop any second now.
"I see a green haired boy running towards it... I don't understand why though. I can't hear what he's saying cause of all the background noise..." she struggled to get the words out as the headache got more and more intense.
"Wait! I think I can hear him calling out his name... Kacchan. Is that... that hero, All Might running towards them?"
In a snap, the headache and vision disappeared. The white haired girl was panting afterwards and sunk into the couch.
"If you think that Shinso guy is behind this, we'll have to travel to the Endeavour agency after the sun sets and see if we can find him. This cannot keep happening to you, Kat."
Katana nodded in response and closed her eyes as she tried to recover.
- - -
The sisters had arrived at the Endeavour agency. They wore their usual black clothes and had weapons on them.
"I was told he walks out the door in about 10 minutes. You go on that rooftop and I'll hide in that alley right over there and follow him. Then, you'll knock him out and we'll question him somewhere else, got it?" the ocean blue eyed assassin said.

Anna nodded and did as she was told.
A few minutes later, Katana heard the door open. She peeked at the direction of the sound and saw a man with messy, purple hair walk out. The white haired girl focused on her quirk and managed to copy his power. She decided to stay in place a little while longer so that she doesn't expose herself before following him.
Just as she was about to go, she felt her arm get yanked. It was like the person knew what she was going to do, cause when she went to grab the other arm, the person was prepared and slammed her against the wall.
"What are you doing lurking in the shadows?"
It was dark so Katana couldn't see who it was, but she recognised that voice. It was the red and white haired hero she keeps running into. Now it made sense to her how he was able to dodge her attack like that.
He tightened the grip he had on her arms and tilted his head up. The light from around the corner shone on his left side, which made his turquoise eye colour show clearly.
"You have pretty eyes." Katana said, hoping it would distract him enough for him to let his guard down.
And it did.
She pulled her arms away from his grip, swiped his legs so he landed face first to the ground and held his arms tightly as she sat on his back. She made sure to copy his quirk before he tried to use it against her. He started to freeze her hands but she used fire to melt it.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you."
Realising that he couldn't use his ice against her, he tried his fire. In return, she used ice to stop it. Confused about her quirk, he focused more on using physical power to get free of her. He used one of his hands and practically crushed her arm so she could loosen her grip. He took advantage of that split second and turned around so that his back was on the ground instead. Katana was still on top of him, about to punch his face. But he was quick enough to dodge it and flip her over. He held one arm in each hand, pinning her to the ground.
Just as she was about to kick him he froze her legs and spoke.
"Answer my question."
"Oh shit what do I do now? Shinso is getting away and I need to ask him some questions." the white haired girl thought. But then she came up with a great idea, inspired by the brainwash quirk user himself.
As she was thinking of what to do, she didn't even have the time to stop his hand that was coming for her mask. He forcefully pulled it down and ignited a flame in his hand.
He had never seen Katanas face clearly, so he took the chance to do this now and find out the truth that was hiding underneath that mask.

Primacy Online
Life on Earth was nearly eradicated in World War III, but using alien technology, the Patriarch of the Church of the Resurrection built a new society from the ashes. He created what he called the Constructed Reality MMORPG, Primacy Online, a world so real that the players could not distinguish it from reality. After outlawing wars between the city-states on Earth, he declared that all wars would be fought inside the world of Primacy Online. Thirteen hundred years later, the release of Primacy Online VI: Legacy of Balor signals the beginning of World War IX. Players from Earth's city-states will be locked in cryogenic capsules and play Primacy Online in War Mode. Their achievements in the game will determine the victory rankings of their city-states, but if they die in the game, they will die for real. Patrick Armagh found flaws in the game mechanics of Primacy Online and exploited them to rise to the peak of the game. But when the Church declared he was cheating, he was perma-banned from the game. Now, the Church has declared that Patrick and all the other perma-banned cheaters will be included in a special Church group for World War IX, where they can earn redemption for their sin of cheating. However, Morgan Danan, Speaker of the City of Mann, and the generally acknowledged number one player of Primacy Online, has a deal for Patrick. With her help and his method of cheating, he has the chance to become a virtual god within Primacy Online, but by taking up her offer, he will become an enemy of the Church. Like a significant percentage of Primacy Online players, Patrick suffers from an ultimately fatal, degenerative nervous system disorder. He has less than five years to live. With death staring him in the face and nothing to live for, he accepts Morgan Danan's offer, and once again, enters Primacy Online as Crom Cruach, a disgraced legend. Will Crom Cruach, once again, become a legend, or will he be destroyed by the Church? What secrets has the Church hidden inside the game?
