They were able to turn back time to the crate. Jake was talking about his plan before looking at the two holding hands.

"Uh, you two know-"

Lynn looked around before gasping in delight.

"A Fénix hair! Oh we are so gonna pummel those guys!"

Nigel showed her his find.

"and with a eye of djinn? God why didn't we think of this before! Jake how did you find her? Actually, how did you end up friends with long? He's a bit of a hothead for me."

Lynn shrugged.

"It's his charm, but no more dilly dallying, we still gotta heal Jake...no wonder he transformed last time!"

Lynn grabbed a golden orb. Nigel was confused with Jake on that one.

"It's a dragonic essence! It's like a portable dragon energy. Jake probably got a hold of it but used it wrong."

Jake was tired of this talk.

"Ok, first off, I never touched that thing in my life, secondly, what's with you two spazzing out yo?"

Lynn smiled.

"You will? We time traveled a bit into the past. Now stay still Jake it might feel weird."

Lynn held the orb before jakes eyes and poured her energy to concentrate onto Jake. Jake watched as the orb glowed golden and began to send swirls of magic around him. Jake felt like he was in limbo. When it was done Jake felt like he was at his normal.

"Woah! Guess it's time to-"

"wait, Jake we still have to get to the boss. We-"

A blast from the side of the crate knocked the trio down.

"You think your pathetic magic could escape from me!"

Nigel made a shield for them.

"Could use some help."

Lynn grabbed her hair band and combined it with the fenix hair and held out the eye of djinn to Nigel. He held the eye in his palm and felt the magic flow into his wand.

"The power of three combine in forthright, in the light of our deeds you will fall tonight!"

Lynn murmured in Latin and her charm worked even better with the hair. Around the dark mage was purple chains surrounding him. Nigel flicked his wrist.

"With power of djinn, drag down the gent!"

In blue weights were added to keep the mage down and Jake easily slammed him into the wall.

"Nighty night, joker!"

Lynn put her headband back and sighed. Nigel too leaned next her tired. Jake was cheering but he looked at the two mages.

"Uh, y'all good?"

Lynn grumbled but nodded.

"Lot of mana used for those spells, I'm surprised you are so powerful I never got your full name."

Nigel smiled at Lynn.

"Nigel Thrall."

Lynn paused before bouncing to her feet excitedly.

"As in son of Jane and Klaus Thrall!!"

Nigel nodded and was surprised he found a fan of his family.

"I loved those acts your parents performed. My parents used to take me to them all the time. I don't even know why people dislike them. The amount of focus into the acts is amazing. I tried to recreate the Gin in jar act but I couldn't."

Nigel was surprised at that.

"Well, that's a hard trick because-"

"it requires a three step spell? No, I know it a two spells and ones a two step."

Nigel found himself a bit in shock. Usually his family gave out fake steps to their fans so they can try to recreate them. For someone to figure it out, well, it was shocking.

"I know! I love how intricate all your family's tricks are and my family loved to see me recreate them when I was young. Kinda embarrassed to admit it.."

Nigel shook his head and smiled at her.

"I think it's amazing someone actually sees the effort with face value. Can I get your name as well."

Lynn paused and felt hesitant to say.

"I..I'm Lynn C-"

Luckily Jake came in to help her.

"Hey Lynn, I still need some help getting all this junk back to their proper place. Nigel didn't you have something tomorrow?"

Nigel grumbled but long was correct. The heirloom of his family was only stolen due to their big performance the next day.

"Hmm, well, I must be off, I have to return a family treasure. Actually, I want to invite you to the next big show in a few weeks. It would be a pleasure to have you there."

Lynn wanted to, but it wouldn't be too good to have the thorn of the grand council there alone.

"Can Jake come?"

Nigel winced but with Lynn's expectant face he relented.

"Fine, long can come, but no dragon business and don't mess with anything."

Lynn smiled happily.

"I'll have him on a leash. Literally or figuratively if it comes down to it."

The mages laughed as their dragonic friend lunged at them. Lynn said her farewells to Nigel and sighed in relief. Jake nudged her and gave her a no excuse stare.

"Ok, what's up with you? With not letting Nigel know who you are?"

Lynn winced and looked to the side.

"I'm, pretty infamous in the magic community. I'm the only mage in our time to be able to do magic without a wand. I'm well hidden enough."

Jake gave her a look to continue you. Lynn turned and started to lift the artifacts into proper piles.

"My face is hidden from the public, but not my name or deeds. I'm Lynn Cardoso, I'm the black thorn of the magic council. Sent out to deal with strong magical problems. Rumors spread and one thing to another, I'm like a mercenary."

She finished lifting the last item and turned to Jake.

"As the American dragon, you get how people can have some misconceptions about you right?"

Jake nodded. He had his fair share of rumors gone wrong and getting framed.

"Yeah, but it sounds like people are talking about you as if your the grim reaper."

Lynn raised her eyebrow and he knew enough. Jake snorted before apologizing.

"Sorry, you're like, the total opposite in real life! Girl that sucks for you yo,"

Lynn nodded and she picked at her hands.

"I like Nigel, he's nice, a thrall, and smart. He actually respected me as a witch, and normal warlocks have a stigma about witches. I was about to do wandless magic until he mentioned he was a wizard. I don't want him to be scared of me."

Jake nodded, but he gave her shoulder a pat.

"Well, lying to him about who you are? That's just gonna make him hate you. I think you should tell him. One thing I did wrong with Rose was not being honest."

Lynn sighed and created a portal home.

"It's not simple, I thought you would know better than everyone else."

She left and went to her quarters. As she got ready for the night her mentor came by.

"You went out to help the dragon. With a young warlock as well. Who was he?"

Lynn shrugged, she knew the stigma against thrills.

"I didn't catch his full name."

Her mentor hummed before leaving.

"Make sure to not reveal yourself too much. No one needs to know that you are with the American dragon."
