《The Ultimate Guide To Writing PJO Fanfics》Topic-Cliches

Ah, the wonderful realm of cliches.

Cliches can lead to fame and discovery!... and also stories that everybody thinks they've read before.

Listen, I'm not saying that you shouldn't write cliches. Cliches become cliches because their popular. It's just, nobody wants to read a story that they've heard a million times before.

Take a Percy Jackson Chaos Fanfic for an example.

If you were a movie director that spends most of their time scouting for new, innovative ideas would you take this? (Skip the bold if you don't care. It's basically describing the plot.

Sound familiar? That's because it is. You've probably read this story before, or at least something like it.

When you write a Chaos fanfic, add a dash of originality. Aquatic Fire, that's original. Percy teleporting the army to the moon, but almost dying in the process, that's original. Even Percy having a little brother that Chaos suddenly grows to be Percy's age is original.

Put anything, literally anything that makes the reader go "What? I haven't read this before!"

If you want some ideas:

Percy is dying from power overload. His core, his aura, it's been acting weird. His blood, it's been turning golden. Add your own twist right here.

Flashback(Main point of it)

Percy plunged Riptide into the ground.

"Only let the worthy take you." he whispered to the blade.

It started to glow brightly, and then dimmed.

Flashback ends

Percy stared at the blade. It brought up memories.

"You can't take it, you know." Annabeth said, irritated." We've all tried. A kid named Percy Jackson put it there. Hecate herself said it was magic beyond our understanding."

Percy put both of his hands on the hilt of the blade, and pulled with all his strength.

He can now A) not be able to do it or B) do it easily.

If B) Annabeth's eyes grew as wide as saucers.

Chaos is a girl. She always appears to be eighteen, with pure black hair with a streak of galaxy colored light.

Annabeth didn't die, or become evil. She joins Percy in the Chaos army. Literally no one has written a story like this. Actually, I think I just might take this idea. . .

Generally avoid cliches, unless you think you can handle them. Take Tony Steals a Pufferfish. It's goofy and silly, but original, and that's why it's so popular. I started out with Cliches, and I'll admit, I wasn't the best writer, so they never really became famous, and I stopped updating.

If you ever write a cliche, you better have the plot of the story written down somewhere, otherwise you will become unhappy at the way your story is.

One last piece of advice.

Even if you have ZERO readers, keep updating.

Picture this. There's a book that is a person's profile picture with a long, non interesting title. It has about 26 reads, and you click on it. You like it, even though it's written with no grammar, there are several spelling mistakes, and they spelled Percy's name wrong. Then you see a To Be Continued button, that says Last Update March 6th, 2015. There are several comments that say UPDATE!!!

Are you going to come back? Or even read the story, since you probably didn't click? Yeah, I didn't think so.

Please, just update your stories.

I'm talking to you, author of Frost Blood.

So PLEASE, just update regularly. You don't even have to update everyday. If you want, just update every week, or every 3 days. School can be tough, and you don't always have time to write.

UPDATE!!!

Nobody wants to read some story with four chapters. If you're writing a cliche, you already have to be good at writing. Even I wouldn't recommend checking out my Percy Jackson and the Chaos Army story.
