《His Good Girl》Chapter 4

After the tourist time was over Locked Jaw became a major problem for the town. Caged Beasts does what they can along side the police to keep them out but it was hard without constant watch over the city. Last night they vandalized many of the buildings, including the front of my house. Many of the houses down my street had been hit. When I saw it, I called Talon.

"Hello," he said sleepily. "I didn't mean to wake you," I told him honestly. Had I known, I would've let it wait. "Its okay Iris, what's wrong," he asked sounding more awake. I sighed, "Locked Jaw vandalized the front of my house last night when I was asleep. They did it to all the houses on my street." "I'm on my way," He said before hanging up. I sighed called into to work.

"Hey Tiffany," I said. "Hey honey, I was just about to call you, telling you not to come in today," She told me. "That crazy motorcycle gang vandalized the library, and we are having major repairs done." "Oh wow. I was gonna call out, so I guess this saves me a sick day," I told her. "They hit my house and many others on my street." She sighed, "I'm sorry honey. I got to go talk to the contractor." I hung up just as Talon and Spider pulled up.

Talon was livid. Okay maybe livid wasn't a strong enough word. I knew how he would react when he saw the words spray painted on the front of my house. Vulgar things that I dare not repeat had been put along with their symbol. "I'm not gonna go in today. Apparently the library was hit and they have to have some major repairs done. So I guess I'll be spending today cleaning this up," I said while taking Shane's carseat out of the car.

"You have enough to deal with, we can handle this," Talon told me, keeping his tone calm despite the rage he was feeling. Spider looked up and down the street, "I'm gonna go see if any of the houses have security cameras, hopefully an idiot got caught and next time they come into town we can have them arrested." Talon nodded and Spider ran off. "You didn't hear anything," Talon asked me. I shook my head, "And nothing woke Shane up." "Meaning they didn't come on their bikes," He said with a sigh.

He picked the carseat up and carried it inside. I took Shane out and put him in his swing. "Let me know how much it costs for you get fix it all, and I'll pay you back," I told him. He cupped my cheek, "Not happening Iris. Had Caged Beasts done a better job at keeping them out, it wouldn't have happened." "Talon, they've been causing trouble all over town, you're running yourselves ragged. Dont be so hard on yourself."

"What if they did more Iris? They got close to the house, what if they came in," He asked me. "Do you have any way of protecting yourself?" "A baseball bat," I told him. "That would be great if you had the strength to knock out a full grown man with it," he pointed out and I saw his point. I lacked in the strength department by a lot.

"Have you thought about getting a gun," he asked me. "I have once but I have tiny hands, Talon. The bigger the gun, the more fire power it has, and the more of a kick it has. I once shot a pistol and my hands hurt afterwards because of the recoil," I told him. "They make guns that are smaller, I'm just gonna have to find you one and teach you how to shoot. Until then, you need a taser and pepper spray," he said while running a hand through his hair. "I really wouldn't trust me with taser spray, especially in the middle of the night. I wear contacts, since I'm not a fan of my glasses. I get up in the middle of the night without my eyes, I may end up spraying myself," I told him. He ran a hand over his face but he couldn't fight the small smile, "We wouldn't want that to happen."

I wrapped my arms around his waist, "Its going to be okay, Talon." "I could always sleep on you couch and in case they come back," He suggested. I smiled softly, "As much as I like the idea of having my big biker here, I know there are certain things, such as smoking, that I dont want you to go a whole night without. Especially when stressed. I've been there and that withdrawl sucks." "You used to smoke," he asked me curiously. I nodded, "I quit because I didn't want to smoke while pregnant."

He tucked a strand of hair behind my ear, "I can live without cigarettes. I cant live with knowing you or Shane got hurt because I wasn't here to protect you if something happened." I studied him then sighed, "You're not gonna let this go are you?" He shook his head, "Nope."

I sighed, "Good thing the couch pulls out into a bed. He smiled and kissed my forehead, "I'm gonna get to work." He went outside and I looked at my livingroom. Books, baby things, and other junk was everywhere. I decided it was time to clean so I would have the room to let the bed come out.

I turned music on softly as I began to clean. I was sliding a heavy box of books across the floor when Spider came in. He raised an eyebrow at me, "Need help?" I smiled,"If you would be so kind to move it by the fireplace." He picked it up and groaned, "Did you pack bricks?" "No, books," I told him. He put it down by the other one and it made a slight thud sound. "The fact you were able to slide that is amazing," he muttered. He then turned to me, "Anyways, I came to ask if you had cameras or a security system at all?" I shook my head, "Cant really afford that," I told him. He nodded, "That's what I thought, I just wanted to make sure. Ever thought about getting a guard dog?" "Dogs like to chew and I'm not risking my books," I told him. He rolled his eyes but didn't argue on it.

He then left when his phone rang, waking up Shane. I picked him up, and took him upstairs to change his diaper. I had just put him in a clean onesie when my mother called. Wonderful, I thought before answering.

"Hey mom," I said while putting the phone between my shoulder and head. "Are you back with Sawyer," she asked me, in her usual nose in the air tone. "No mother. He left me remember? Plus now I dont even want him back," I told her. "And why is that," she asked. "He was a good man." I rolled my eyes, "I dont need him. I have Shane, and I have a wonderful man who treats me ten times better than Sawyer ever did."

"And how so," she asked with a scoff. "Well he's taken me out several times, he let me meet his friends while Sawyer refused to ever let that happen. The most important thing is, he cares about Shane," I told him. "Plus he is an actual man, unlike Sawyer who is a wuss who runs to his daddy anytime there is trouble." And he was so much sexier. "Anyways what was the real reason you called?"

"I heard that Sawyer was getting married and I was hoping it was back to you," She told me. I expected to feel pain, but I didn't. I put Sawyer in his crib for a nap, "No I'm not marrying Sawyer again. Now if you excuse me, I have lunch to fix for the man who is doing some work for me." I then hung up and turned to see Talon leaning in the doorway. He pulled me towards him, "Everytime you mention him, I want to hurt him more and more. He doesnt realize how good he had it." I wrapped my arms around his neck, "Then let's stop talking about him." He kissed my cheek, "That is definitely something I can get behind."

I lead him to the kitchen and he sat at the table while he watched me cook. When it was ready I fixed his plate while he washed his hands. I made my plate and sat across from him. "What are you doing tomorrow," He asked me. "Well since its Sunday, I was gonna take Shane to go do some shopping, get some things for him since it's not long till its gonna get colder." "Are you going to get his costume," he asked next. "I cant take an infant trick or treating," I pointed out. He chuckled, "You have a point. So why dont you two come with me to the club's Halloween party? We guys dont dress up, but the women and kids go all out. The family friendly part of the party is until ten that night. If we're too tired to come back here, we can sleep in my room at the compound. The walls are very sound proof so none of the party sounds will get into the room."

I bit my lip nervously, before nodding, "Okay."

Talon's POV

I sat on the pull out bed, admiring the quilt Iris had laid on the bed. It had a bouquet of flowers embroidered on the front of it. The background was white and on the underside with was pink. The entire quilt was handmade. "Did you make this," I asked her when she came in holding a pillow for me. She nodded, "Yeah. My grandmother taught me a long time ago. I worked on this one when I had just moved here. This is one of the more simpler ones I've done. It's also the biggest I've done and I figured it would fit you best." "This is really beautiful," I told her and it was. "The ones my grandmother used to do were phenomenal. I only have one of her quilts though, since my mother burned the others in anger when my grandmother died. The one I have she made for my sixteenth birthday and I kept it put away, since my mother hated it," She shared with me. "Your mother doesnt sound like the best people to be around," I confessed to her. She smiled softly, "She really isn't. She is greedy and only cares about her reputation. She hated my grandmother for growing up poor even though it wasn't her fault. That's just how life is." Her smile brightened, "You would've loved my grandmother, and I know she would've loved you. She was always fun to be around, and loved to play pranks. She was my best friend." She then moved her eyes from the quilt to me. "What's your family like?"

"My dad was a marine. He loved being a marine, even more than he loved his family. He pushed me to follow in his footsteps, but it just wasn't something I want to do. At least that's how he used to be when my mom gave him a wake up call by threatening to leave. He then became the father our family needed. Of course that happened after I moved out. We get along but it's always tense with us. My mother is a one of the most patient people I've ever seen. My siblings have surely caused her hair to go gray but yet she has never raised her voice at us. That was dad's job when he was around," I told her. "Its been years since I've seen them but I call my mom once a week to let her know I'm still alive."

"How do they feel about you being a part of Caged Beasts," She asked me. I shrugged,"My dad accepted it pretty easily which shocked me. Mom on the other hand worried. I have done time for a couple years because of a job I was doing for the Club and I thought she was gonna kill me. My siblings are on edge though. They don't exactly trust me around their kids, thinking I'll hurt them." I then had to know how she felt. "And how do you feel about me being part of an MC?"

"Never once did I think you were going to hurt me or Shane. I do worry about you, because I dont want you to get hurt, or worse. I care about you so much and it would kill me if something happened. I dont care that you spent time in jail, because I know you Talon," she said while taking my hand. Then her face became red, "How do you feel about being with a woman who already has a kid with another man?" I brought her hand to my lips and kissed her fingers, "Like the luckiest man in the world. You and Shane are everything to me. I dont care if he's not mine biologically. As long as you call me yours, I will call him mine." Tears filled her eyes and the next thing I know, her arms are wrapped around me. I wrapped them around her and held her. When she pulled away she wiped her face, "Sorry, I was just so overwhelmed." I kissed her cheek, "You dont need to apologize Iris." She gave me a small smile, "Thank you Talon." I wanted to tell her that she didn't need to thank me, but I knew she'd never listen me. That's just the kind of woman she was and I wouldn't have it any other way.
