《The ThickGirl and The Badboy》Chapter 18:Cry Baby

Her eyes stared deeply into mine, looking panicked.
Why was she panicked?
Did I not look like a fucking angel to her?
She then shut her eyes tight, and turned towards her parents, and spoke with a whisper, "Why am I here? What the fuck happened? "
Her mom gave her a warning look, I side smiled.
"Leen.." Her father started, grabbing a hold of her hand for reasurance, "You got hurt. Crystal panicked and called the ambulance. We were so worried honey.."
"What do you mean?!"
"You just need to rest, you'll be out soon." He kissed the back of her hand, and squeezed it tightly.
I then felt that I shouldn't be witnessing this. It was her family, her family time, and it felt like I was intruding her personal life.
"Koleen." Dr.Disnew spoke,"How are you feeling?"
She turned toward him, completely ignoring me.
Was she not grateful I was here with her?
"I feel fine." She gets up, "Can I go now?"
"As soon as your parents fill out some papers. You'll be cleared. But resting is important for you."
She later back down, looking up at the ceiling. "Okay." She sighed.
"I'm gonna need the parents to come this way." The doctor said, her parents following after him, leaving us alone.
After a few moments of silence she speaks up, "Why are you here?"
Wow, that stung.
"I thought Sean gave you a beating."
She smiled, that cute smile of hers that for some odd reason made me feel better. "Yeah right." She answers. "Sean is too much of a coward to throw fists."
"I was just checking."
•••••••○••
Embarrassment was what I felt when I was being put in a hospital bed for simply falling, embarrassment was what I also felt when I woke up to see Bryson there.

He looked like shit, although I shouldn't be talking because I probably did too, but he just looked...tired.
But hearing him say he came to see if Sean did something named me laugh.
He left after my parents came back, said he'd see me at school. Which, oddly enough, maybe I was looking forward to.
"Okay so you're all ready, any questions?"Dr.Disnew asked us.
"Well," My dad looked to me and my mom, "Can my daughter get a school note to rest for tomorrow? If you tell her to rest, I know she won't do it. Her coaches will probably make her do five miles."
"Don't exaggerate Rodrigo." My mom tells him.
"It is not an exaggeration Catalina. I want my daughter to rest, if she doesn't get a doctors note she won't listen!" My dad argued.
"Uh, in that case I will write a note for her." The Doctor said.
We left the hospital with a doctors note, telling me to rest. Which kind of annoyed me, but my dad insisted.
Once we got home, I thought we'd be all together but my mom checked her watch, and announced , "I must go. I've got a shift in a couple of minutes."
"What?" I say surprised.
"Honey, I was with you the whole time. I've missed too much important work, I'll see you tomorrow sweetpea." She said kissing my forehead, and leaving out the door.
I turned towards my dad, "You're not leaving?"
He smiled at me warmly, his smile always reasured me. "Now why would I do that?"
"Don't you have work to do also?"
He grabbed my hand and squeezed it, "Pumpkin I will never leave you for work. Work can wait, right now you're my priority." He kissed my forehead," Are you hungry? I can make some to eat."

The next day I woke up thinking I had school, but I forgot my dad requested to rest. I went back to bed and slept so good.
When I woke up I felt rested, I went to the kitchen to see if my dad was there, but remembered he had to leave for work.
The doorbell rang, followed by a knock.
'Who could it be?' I thought as I checked the clock to see the time.
I waited a few minutes to open the door, thinking maybe they'd leave.
"I know you're in there, you didn't go to school today." Bryson reported.
I was surprised he even showed.
Silence.
"ThunderThighs c'mon. I have Dairy-Free Ice Cream, and other healthy shit for you, now let me in."
I raised my eyebrow up, 'food? For mua?'
'Let me go get that door.'
I didn't realize I was still in my pajamas until I opened the door, and he just stared.
"Nice clothes." He mocks.
"Well are you gonna come in, or are you just gonna stand there like an idiot?" I tell him.
He didn't take his eyes off me, as he entered.
"What's up with you? Why are you staring at me like that, as if I were almost naked?" I asked, my eyes scanning him over.
"Nothing. You look different that's all."
My face scrunched up in confusion, " You've seen me with or without makeup, if that's what you mean." I told him snatching the food, and making myself comfy on the couch. "Thanks by the way." I then winked.
He side smiled me, and sat next to me.
"It's not that...Did..Did I ever tell you, you have a baby face?" He asked grabbing my face.
I pulled back from his touch and replied, "I don't have a baby face."
He laughed, tilting his head back..
He has a nice smile...and a nice laugh..and nice teeth...
"Yeah right! ThunderThighs, you look sixteen!"
My jaw hit my lap.
I.Did.Not.
"No I don't!"
He smirked at me, then turned on the TV with one hand, and rested the other behind the couch, close to my back.
"What are you doing here anyways?" I asked confused, grabbing a pillow and squeezing it.
"I came to see how you were." He replied quietly.
"Why?" I asked him.
"Let's watch a movie. " He changed the subject.

My second life in a fantasy world
Important Announcement: English is not my first language, sorry for the mistakes After living a long life on earth, it was finally time to leave, bedridden in a hospital, surrounded by a large family, between sobs and sad goodbye glances, bearing many memories, some good, some bad, funny moments, sad moments, happy moments, tragic moments, I finally closed my eyes and plunged into the abyss of darkness and what awaited me on the other side was ... An old ex-mercenary hungry for adventure is reincarnated in a world of swords and magic, with no trap powers, just his own strength, wits, and outlandish friends. P.S. I am a totally amateur writer, I write just for fun, I am working on illustrations with another person, I plan to put one on the cover of each chapter reflecting its content. At the moment I already have partially assembled the story, I just need to polish a little, the rhythm in which the chapters appear may vary. The original version in Spanish can be found here for the curious https://www.wattpad.com/myworks/250682744-mi-segunda-vida-en-un-mundo-de-fantas%C3%ADa

Luck And Chronomancy
Time Magic is the best magic as everyone knows, although there are lots of unique Talents in the world. Most people only remember Haste because it is hard to get to higher Phases of Chronomancy. That is still enough to make the Talent iconic. A lucky enough Aleatory Talent can position you for greatness or leave you languishing in obscurity. The only true equality in the world is when that glowing message pops up at 8 years old. Even if it doesn't activate until you are an adult at 16 you still know. Sure you can find a new dungeon spawn and get another chance at a rare Talent, even this one, but you have to already be ready to delve into the *Far Wilds*, which is far easier with wealth or family power. This is the story of where my good fortune took me and the difference it made, even among a party of 7 others including an Arcanist. It is a journey of magic and monsters but also math, which some think is actually worse. Luckily I was born with Intelligence and Focus as my personal traits, and my parents were scholars. Of course Chronomancy can also be a frontline combat talent. Versitility well beyond other Elder Talents like Gravity, Abstraction, or Arcana. Might could have worked for me, too. I also met a runaway princess. All the best adventures have a princess. She hated being a noble and we didn't get married but it still counts. Besides she really filled out our front line. All that Leadership training came in handy. I still don't know where she's from. Who cares? How well Haste goes with giant hammers is what's important. I never learned much about anyone in the party, except the one I grew up with. I'm not a people person. I just wanted to optimize dungeon clearing time. *******Story Details******* No romance, politics, or traumatizing content, slice of life, or even dialogue. 1st person narration, like a guide/adventure log. 2000-7000 words a day, maybe 40-60% rpgish combat log with some reasoning on combat decisions, with the rest character Talent discussion and progression stuff. 8 person party with a decent variety in roles. Party members usually have 2 primary functions. Told from the support/control Chronomancer's perspective. Each party member will have 6 Basic/Background Traits, then 3 actual Talents with abilities. Capstone from their Educational Institution, Arbritrary as a gift from the temples, and Aleatory which is decided at birth, revealed at 8, and activated after adulthood at 16. Aleatory Traits ignore requirements and are random why is why they are so important. They'll gain new Talents from finding Dungeons to consume in the *Wilds*. Mature dungeons in cities can provide *Challenges* to raise the Phase of a Talent, up to 3 times from 1 to 4. Each character will get to roughly 8 non-Trait Talents. Attributes come exclusive from Talents, are required by Talents, and provide various effects as well. I designed about 220 Talents with abilities, 4 in each of 4 phases. "Traits" are just Attribute stuff. I'm not sure how many will be detailed in the story, more than 100 for sure. I used Talents because I want to be free of the legacy of tabletop. Half those rules are just because of the limitations inherent in a pre-computer ttrpg. This story mostly uses combat Talents, although like 1/3 of the 220 are for crafting and other society and economy stuff. If you really wanted to be a Thief you might take Intuition, Awarness, and Might for Basic Traits and Deftness, Manipulation, and Trickery for Family/Education. Then you'd pick Acrobatics, and Climbing for Educational Capstone and Arbitrary traits. You Aleatory Trait might be Shadow(Light/Dark) Magic, Umbramancy. A Bard might swap Dexterity for Charisma, Music for Acrobatics, and have gotten Illusion(Shadow/Sound(Air/Force)) for their Aleatory Trait.
