CHAPTER EIGHT

"you're kidding me, joking, pranking me!"

jeonghan watched as seungcheol filled his medium sized cup with coffee flavored frozen yogurt.

and by the drool like emotion seungcheol was showing, he was being dead serious. he filled the yogurt all the way to the top, trying his best to make a perfect tiny swirl at the top.

"jeonghan," he stood up straight from his slanted position, seeing that jeonghan's cup was still empty. "if you don't fill that up I'm leaving you here."

hesitantly, jeonghan looked at each flavor, "I...I never ate frozen yogurt..."

seungcheol pretended that a bullet went straight through his heart, he even held on to the counter. jeonghan could not help but laugh at him. his theatrics were phenomenal.

"jeonghan, how did you even survive without me?" seungcheol snatched the empty cup and began filling it with the regular vanilla flavor. "time for toppings!"

after paying for their food, the boys were now walking along the shoreline. the mid morning sky was a clouded gray and the winds were weak as the the waves crashed against the damp dark brown rocks.

seungcheol eagerly watched as jeonghan took the small purple spoon and scooped up a mouthful of his yogurt. as jeonghan stuck the spoon into his mouth, it slowly melted inside.

and this scene felt vaguely familiar, just like at the mexican restaurant, seungcheol was right again. the yogurt was delicious, the way it felt smooth then slightly bumpy at the same time. his toppings—which were somewhat basic compared to seungcheol's— mixed so well with the vanilla flavor.

"holy shit," he moaned, food was amazing. "I hate you, you know that?"

seungcheol frowned, "what why? I thought you liked it!"

a muffled chuckle came from jeonghan while he stuffed another scoop into his mouth, "you're just really good with food."

seungcheol and jeonghan walked down the beach in silence for awhile eating their frozen yogurt. seungcheol wanted to grasp jeonghan's hand and pull him close, he wanted to hold him and peck his cheek.

but he was just a friend as of now, and friends are not supposed to feel this way about each other. it pained him, it really did.

so, he settled for just staring at jeonghan while he ate, he was so gorgeous it frustrated him. his hair, his eyes, his lips, everything was perfectly aligned and he loved it.

"you're burning holes through the side of my head seungcheol," jeonghan commented on his staring.

"it isn't my fault you're like a greek god asshole!"

jeonghan choked on the crushed oreo he was chewing, greek god? he half smiled at his remark. quickly returning his face back to the cool and slightly monotonous look before seungcheol saw.

"shut up," he said. seungcheol could not suppress the laugh, and so he softy let it out. after a little, jeonghan just joined in with him.

they walked a little longer and a little farther, until they finished the yogurt and threw the empty containers away. they decided to climb a couple of rocks, taking a seat on the flat surface of the second highest.

"jeonghan," seungcheol leaned against the bumpy rock behind them. "can I ask you something?"

jeonghan let out a loud dramatic sigh, bringing his knees to his chest, "even if I disagreed you wouldn't listen." seungcheol smiled the cheesy shining smile he loved.

"you don't have to tell me if you don't wanna," he said. "but, what happened? what hurt you so much?"

jeonghan did not want to answer that, at all. every time he thought about, or saw them out in public or in the dorms he felt betrayed. he despised the memory, but he did not hate the two.

he let out a hurt chuckle, "do you really want to know so bad? it's stupid..." seungcheol shifted, he was now sitting up closer to jeonghan. he nodded once, signaling for him to continue.

"he was the first person I loved, and throughout all of high school I avoided that because my goal was to be successful and then he transferred and I couldn't have been anymore in love," jeonghan gulped. "it was our anniversary, and I knew we had been distant but...but I still cared. I bought flowers and dresses a little nicer than I would and I was ready

ready to fix things, and there he was. with another boy, and one of my best friends at that." without realizing it, small tears were streaming down the sides of his cheeks. he never had the chance to vent. not even too soonyoung, because he was too hurt. too in shock.

"it hurt, and ever since then I just wondered...why?" it is true, he always wondered. why was he not enough? "but I don't hate them, I couldn't hate them."

seungcheol's heart shattered completely as he saw jeonghan break down, he wrapped his arms around the boy. rubbing his head, patting his back. all he wanted was to love him, love him with everything because he deserved that much.

but he knew, jeonghan would beg to differ. so, he was the friend that he needed to be. he tried to be.

jeonghan pulled away and seungcheol gripped his hand, running his thumb over it in soft circular motions.

jeonghan felt embarrassed for crying, for revealing all of that. but as he looked at seungcheol all he could see was sympathy and care and that made him feel even worse.

"jeonghan, you shouldn't wonder why, because you're fucking amazing and if I could I would beat the crap out of him because you deserve better," seungcheol gave the boy reassurance.

and for another hour or so, they stayed that way. watching the ocean together in silence, because silence was all that was needed.

I'm so cheesy y'all could sue me if you want. I didn't proof read this yikes. btw last chapter, seungkwan's shock was important for the near future ;))
