《Worth The Risk》Savannah, Party Of One

Emma told Delilah everything. She started to lie but Delilah saw right through her. Emma told her everything from the time Juan and Isabella took her from the party up until a few days ago when she almost took Savannah's life. Delilah was in a state of shock. Did she not really know anyone in her life? Her papa, tía, and even Miguel had been lying to her this entire time. They brought poor innocent Emma into their dark world. Then Delilah was conflicted. Everything her papa had ever done, including this, had been for her. He always insured she had an easy comfortable life. Delilah never worried about a thing. How could she be mad at her father for that? On top of processing all of that, she had to hear and understand that Savannah, the person she had been friends with for years, was a serial rapist. It wasn't just Delilah. It was multiple women. She was sick. The things she said to Emma. Her lack of remorse. Delilah knew she needed more than jail had to offer.
"Are you ready?" Emma asked. The two of them were standing outside of Emma's house. They had been for almost five minutes.
Delilah needed a minute before she went in. Other than the recording, She hadn't seen Savannah since the incident. What would she even say or do? She needed to get it together. She was the one that asked to come here. Emma didn't want to bring her but she insisted. "Yes."
They went and went upstairs. Miguel met them in the hallway. "No." He said. Emma told him she was coming over but she didn't say anything about Delilah.
"Miguel. Move." Delilah's voice was strong and clear.
"Why are you here, Lilah? It's only going to upset you. Why did you bring her?" Miguel asked Emma.

"Because I asked her to." Delilah said. "Where is she?"
"Delilah." Miguel didn't want this. If he had it his way, Savannah would've been buried days ago.
Delilah walked past him and straight to the only door that was closed. The guest room. Emma tried to follow her but Delilah stopped her. "I want to see her alone."
"No!" Emma protested.
"Please." Delilah said softly.
Savannah's head popped up when the door opened. She assumed it was time for her rice and water, but no. This was far better. She sat up and smiled. "I wasn't expecting to see you."
Delilah's heart stopped beating and there was ringing in her ears. She felt cold and sweaty at the same time. The knots in her belly tightened.
"I would stand to greet you but short leash." Savannah tugged at the chain from her wrist to the bed. "But please, sit. Stay a while. Your minion isn't the chatty type. And here I thought you were quiet."
Delilah took a good look at her. Her face wasn't harmed. She did have bruises around her neck and bandages on her fingers. Delilah wondered what happened to her. Who had delivered the punishment she probably deserved. She definitely deserved.
"Well fine. I guess you can stand. Do you think you can convince them to let me go? I get it, you probably don't want to be friends anymore but this whole thing is a wild misunderstanding. You were super drunk and..."
"I wasn't drunk, Savannah. You drugged me." Delilah finally found her voice wedged somewhere between her fear and anger.
"I did not. I took some too. How was I supposed to know you couldn't handle it?"
"You could have told me!"

"You and I both know you would have said no." Savannah said calmly.
"And that's my decision and if you were ever my friend you should have been willing to respect that."
Savannah was actually offended. "If I was ever your friend?? Delilah I would have done anything for you. I love you. I always have. You can't tell me you never noticed."
"I didn't." Delilah said. She was very uncomfortable now.
Savannah was getting angry. "And then... then you go and date Emma?" She laughed. "Emma! Out of all people!"
"What is that supposed to mean?" Delilah asked.
"Nothing." Savannah sulked.
"Those other women, Savannah.. did you love them too?"
"No. Just you. Maybe if you would've acknowledged me they never would have gotten involved."
"So this is my fault?" Delilah asked. She couldn't be serious.
Savannah didn't say anything. She laid back down and stared at the ceiling. "What are we doing here? Am I going to jail or what? Because I'm getting bored with this whole prisoner of war routine. I'll kill myself if I have to eat another bowl of rice."
It was like she didn't even care. Delilah was nothing to her. There's no way she loved Delilah. Delilah knew love. Love was the way Emma looked at her and made her smile. Love was Miguel always having her back. It was the tears in her papa's eyes while telling her stories about her mama. Love was soft and warm. Comforting. It gave Delilah strength in all of her vulnerability. It was literally everything Savannah didn't deserve. "You don't know what love is. You've never loved anyone and no one will ever love you. Not me or anyone else. You'll die alone and forgotten. I'll make sure of it."
She had struck a nerve. Savannah closed her eyes and turned her back towards Delilah. She didn't say another word. Delilah left the room. Only Miguel was standing in the hallway.
"Do whatever you need to do but I don't want her to go to jail and I don't want her dead. I just want her to be and feel alone. Forever."
Miguel nodded. "Are you okay?"
"I will be. Where's Emma?"
"Right here, babe." Emma answered as she reached the top of the stairs.
Delilah walked over to her and hugged her tightly. She let herself break down in her arms. Emma held her tightly and let her cry. It was clear that the road to healing was going to be rough. Both of them knew it wouldn't be easy but this was a start. Savannah would be out of their lives for good. Delilah had Emma and she knew she wasn't going anywhere. Delilah rested in the fact that with everything she would have to face, she wouldn't face it alone.
