《Worth The Risk》Especially Heinous

Delilah woke up the next morning feeling like someone hit her in the head with a metal bat. She didn't remember how she got home and she hated that. It reminded of the last time she couldn't remember, but Emma was beside her. She knew nothing bad happened to her with Emma there.

Emma was curled up against her and it felt good. It felt right. Her head was nestled and tucked against Delilah's chest. She was still sleeping peacefully. Delilah didn't move in fear she would wake her. She remembered bits of the prior day. Her attempt to seduce Emma came to mind. She was slightly embarrassed about that. Thankfully Emma was as pure as Delilah knew her to be and didn't take advantage of the situation. Though she still felt a bad for making Emma pay for the wrong doing of someone else. Delilah didn't want to have sex but she could tell Emma did.

"You wake up early even with a hangover." Emma mumbled. Her eyes were still closed but she knew Delilah was awake by the way she was breathing.

"How do you know I'm hungover?" Delilah asked. She was absolutely hung over.

"Well are you?"

Delilah sighed. "Yes."

Emma chuckled and snuggled closer to her lover. She tossed her leg over Delilah's and breathed in the warm air between them.

"Emma?"

"Hm?"

"Do you want to uh... have sex...with me?" Delilah asked. She felt so weird asking it. She knew she did but wanted to be sure. What if Emma actually didn't? What if she didn't think she was desirable anymore?

Emma's eyes snapped up to meet Delilah's. Why was she asking her that? She felt so put on the spot. Would Delilah be mad that she did? "Um.." she swallowed nervously, "yes."

"Okay. Let's do it." Delilah said.

"Wait. What? No." Emma leaned back a little bit.

"You want to. Why not?"

"Because you don't want to. I'm okay, babe. I can wait as long as you need me to." Emma assured her.

"Are you sure? I feel bad." Delilah confessed.

"I'm positive, baby. Don't get me wrong, the sex is mind blowing, but that's not the only thing I care about. I want you to be happy and healthy. Physically and mentally. Okay?"

"Okay. I love you." Delilah said softly. Emma's phone started ringing. It was closer to Delilah so she grabbed it and handed it to her. It was Cyn

"I love you more." Emma said. "I can call her back if you need to talk."

"Stop it. I'm fine." Delilah pushed the green little button to accept the call.

"Hello." Emma answered. She gave Delilah a look.

"Hi Mommy." Cyn answered.

Delilah kissed Emma on the forehead before getting out of bed. She needed to find something to help her headache.

"Hi, baby. How are you?" Emma asked.

"I'm okay. I miss you. Was the party fun last night?" Cyn asked. She was in her room sitting in a towel getting ready for work. Well she was supposed to be getting ready anyway.

"I miss you too, cinnamon roll." Emma said. Cyn giggled. "The party was... interesting. Delilah had a great time."

"Uhhh you didn't?" Cyn asked. Emma's wording was weird.

"I didn't have a bad time. What are you doing?" Emma asked trying to change the subject.

"I just got out of the shower. I have to go to work. Do you think Delilah can tell Tony to excuse me for the day?"

"Probably if you asked her. Why? What's wrong?" Emma asked.

"I just feel so faint. I'm suffering from low Mommy hugs." Cyn said dramatically. She fell back on her bed.

Emma laughed. "Oh really? We should fix that."

"We should." Cyn eagerly agreed.

"I'll come get you after you get off of work, babe." Emma said.

Cyn squealed. "Yay! See ya Mommy. I have to go."

"Okay baby. Have a great day."

"I will! Muah!" Cyn ended the call.

Emma stretched and went to find Delilah. She was nowhere to be found downstairs. On a hunch, Emma checked the backyard. She found her on the patio doing yoga. Delilah was very flexible. She was also not wearing a ton of clothes. Emma looked around but her backyard was pretty private. There was no way her neighbors were close enough to see her.

"You can join me." Delilah said. The sun on her face and the pull of her muscles felt fantastic.

"I'm not really the yoga type." Emma said. "You're way more flexible than me."

"Anyone can do yoga and not to be crude but I've seen your body bend into some pretty interesting shapes, love." Delilah smirked.

Emma blushed. "Shut up." She sat on one of the patio chair and sat crisscross applause. "Delilah, can I ask you something about Savannah?"

Delilah opened her eyes and exhaled the breath she was holding. "Okay."

"Have you been able to remember anything new from the night in question?" Emma asked.

"The night in question." Delilah repeated. "I feel like I'm on an episode of Law and Order."

"Okay what is your obsession with law and order?" Emma asked. This wasn't the first time she referenced the show.

"Two words. Casey. Novak." Delilah switched poses. "Is she not the hottest attorney you've ever seen?" Emma's silence was deafening. Delilah realized was she just said. "I meant fictional attorney, obviously. I'm actually dating the hottest lawyer in the world."

"Cute." Emma said, clearly unamused. "Now, seriously. Have you?"

"Yes." Delilah said. "I think. I'm not sure really."

"What do you mean?"

"It's like my nightmares and what I think I remember sometimes merge together. I can't tell whats real or what was just apart of my dream." Delilah closed her eyes and took a deep breath. She started stretching again. She exhaled slowly. "I know for certain we had sex. The details change day to day but that remains the same."

"You two didn't have sex. Sex is consensual." Emma corrected her.

Delilah started at her. She still hadn't been able to admit the truth to herself. She hadn't uttered the word that would make it all concrete.

"I'm sorry." Emma said. She didn't mean to hurt Delilah any further. It was the lawyer in her. Words mean things and have power. She had to be careful the way she phrased things.

"It's uh... it's okay. You're right." Delilah said. She laid flat on her back and closed her eyes again. She pretended to melt under the already scorching sun. She'd leak through the cracks of her wooden deck and water the grass beneath. She'd be more useful that way, she thought.

"Can I ask you something else?" Emma asked.

"Yes."

"If you had it your way, would you rather Savannah be dead or in jail?" Emma questioned.

"Jesus, Emma." Delilah said. That was dark, even for her, but then she thought about it. To wish someone was dead was a lot. Delilah only kinda knew one dead person. Her mother. She missed her at times, like now, even though she didn't know her. It's such a permanent thing, to be dead. "Jail."

"I thought so." Emma said. She stood up and started to go back into the house.

"Where are you going?" Delilah shielded her eyes from the sun.

"I have to make a phone call. I'll be right back."

"Oh." Delilah laid back down. "Wait, What about you?"

"What about me?" Emma asked.

"Dead or jail?"

Emma didn't hesitate. She already knew her answer. "Not jail."

Delilah nodded. "I know."

Emma started to walk back inside but paused before closing the door. "Casey Novak. Really?"

Delilah smiled. "Mm hmm."

Emma rolled her eyes and went inside.
