《Worth The Risk》First Down

Emma walked into Delilah's house and sat her things by the door. Delilah walked down the steps wearing next to nothing under her opened robe. Emma forgot what she was about to say when she saw her. She went to grab Delilah by the waist but Delilah stopped her hands.

"Don't touch me." She said sternly. She wasn't mad. Delilah knew Emma's work was important to her. She was actually happy to Emma. It really didn't matter what time it was. She was there. That mattered.

"What? Why?" Emma asked full of disappointment. She didn't need dinner. She needed Daddy. Her day was pretty shitty at work but seeing Delilah's beautifully sculpted body was the pick me up she needed. Now, if she could just get her hands, or mouth, on it. That would be perfect.

"You made me wait. Now, you wait. Come eat, love." Delilah leaned in and kiss her. After all, they hadn't seen each other all day and she did miss her. Emma shuttered from the kiss. Delilah smelled so good. Her scent alone was alluring.

Emma groaned softly and followed Delilah to the table where they sat across from each other. The food smelled amazing. She loved when Delilah cooked. She never expected her to. She knew how much she loathed people demanding her to cook because she was good at it. She knew it was a labor of love and she appreciated it.

"How was your day?" Delilah asked. She wasn't that hungry. All she had prepared for herself was a salad and a glass of ice water.

Emma swallowed the food that was in her mouth and shrugged. "Long. Bad." She didn't really want to discuss the particulars of why. She just knew it wasn't a great day at the office. She should tell Delilah about her visitor but she didn't want to make something out of nothing. It's not like she believed Cameron anyway. The people she knew would never do something as bad as threatening a child.

Delilah frowned. It was obvious by her pensive expression that Emma's day was weighing on her mind. "I'm sorry, baby. Do you want to talk about it?" She asked.

"Not really. Tell me about your day. Take my mind off it." Emma said before taking a sip of her water. There was a wine glass there as well, but she didn't want to drink. Delilah began telling her about her day, filling her in on all of Miguel's silly shenanigans. She told her about the suit he picked. Delilah thought it was a bit flamboyant but Miguel liked it.

Delilah cleared her throat. "I uh.. also went to one of the restaurants today. Store one actually. I spoke to Cyn."

Emma looked up from her plate. "Okay and?"

"I told her that we were dating, that you were my girlfriend and so we wouldn't be doing what we were doing anymore." Delilah tried to word that as delicately as possible. Surely, Emma didn't need the reminder or imagery.

"How did she take it?"

"Really well. She was actually happy for me. I think. She wants to be friends. I told her I'd have to think about. I really just wanted to talk to you about it first. See how you felt." Delilah said. She was really putting her best foot forward with this relationship thing. She loved Emma and didn't want to hurt her. She was going to be as open and honest as possible.

Emma was honestly shocked. "You did?"

"Yes. Of course."

Emma felt bad now for not telling her about Cameron's surprise visit. Delilah's phone started to ring. It was Miguel. "I'm sorry, baby. I'll only be a second." Delilah excused herself from the table and answered the phone. "Hey, Miguel. It' has to be quick."

"Hey. I was just calling to see if Emma was okay." Miguel asked. He was sitting in his car outside of Cameron's house waiting for her to come home.

Delilah looked back at Emma sitting at the table before walking to the next room. "Yeah? Why would you ask that?"

"I had a buddy tell me he saw her talking to a cop. He said the discussion looked kind of... close." Miguel hesitated.

A cop? Cameron. Delilah didn't understand. Why didn't Emma say anything? "Close?"

"Yeah like uh... heated or something." Miguel clarified.

"She's fine. Thanks for calling."

"Of course, sis." Miguel ended the call and tossed his phone into the console. He turned towards Tony. "Are you sure you're ready to do this?" He asked.

He nodded. "Yeah. This is better than messing with the kid." The two of them got out the car and snuck into Cameron's home.

Delilah sat back down at the table. Emma could tell something was wrong. Something had changed since she left the table the first time. She was right. Delilah was furious. "Is everything okay?" Emma asked.

Delilah shrugged. "You tell me, Em."

"What is that supposed to mean?" Emma asked. "Who was that on the phone?"

"Does it matter? Do you have something you want to tell me?"

Emma crossed her arms. "Do you have people spying on me or something??"

"What? No! Should I? Do you have something to hide? Why didn't you tell me you were with Cameron?" Delilah asked. She tried to keep a straight face, but she could feel herself frowning.

Emma didn't want to make Delilah sad. She unfolded her arms and sighed. "Because I wanted to avoid this. And I wasn't with her, Delilah. She was waiting for me when I came out of the building."

"Avoid what?" Delilah asked.

"This. What we're doing. I don't want to fight with you. Especially about her." Emma said. She had tears in her eyes. She hated it. When did she become such a cry baby?

The moment she saw tears in her eyes, Delilah lowered her defenses. She didn't want to fight either. "Okay. So let's not fight. Let's just talk." She got up from her seat and sat beside Emma.

She told Delilah exactly what happened and what Cameron said. She reassured Delilah that she didn't believe a word Cameron said. She had no reason to and chalked it up to her jealousy. Delilah didn't understand why she would say that. The Miguel she knows wouldn't dare do that.

"That's all?" Delilah asked.

"That's all." Emma answered.

"Next time can you just tell me? It doesn't matter if we fight, we'll get over it. Don't keep me in the dark." Delilah said.

"I'm sorry." Emma apologized. "It won't happen again."

Delilah kissed her forehead. "Okay. I love you."

Emma pressed her face into Delilah's neck and breathed deep. "I love you too."
