《Worth The Risk》Here, Lies... The Truth?

Miguel held the door open for Delilah as she walked into the store. He dragged her along while he searched for a suit to buy. Daniela's sister was getting married and of course he was her date. The two of them weren't together as much as usual lately, and he missed Delilah.

"You have so many suits. You wear one everyday. Just wear one of those." Delilah said. Shopping for clothes she couldn't wear was a drag.

"That's like telling you that you don't need another pair of heels." Miguel said. "And I've seen your shoe collection. You don't."

Delilah scoffed and rolled her eyes. "Whatever."

The gentleman that worked in the store strolled over to them and asked Miguel if he could be of service. When Miguel told him he'd rather just look around by himself, the man smiled and left them alone again.

"So you've been real busy this last week. It feels like I haven't seen you. It's all about Emmaaaaa now, huh?" Miguel teased. Delilah had blown him off for lunch and dinner every day.

Delilah smirked and tried not to blush so hard. Hearing Emma's name was enough to make her explode into one giant smile. "Well, she is my girlfriend, Miguel."

He stopped in his tracks and turned to face her. "Your what? I'm sorry, I think you said your girlfriend but that couldn't be right!"

Delilah flipped her hair and ran her teeth over her bottom lip. "That's exactly what I said. We're officially dating."

Miguel laughed. "Officially?"

Delilah nodded. "Yes."

"Congratulations. Finally!! When did this happen?" Miguel asked. He felt like a proud big brother. Emma was a nice woman. Hopefully his little sister didn't mess this up. Like her father, Delilah was used to a certain lifestyle. One that entertained a lot of pretty women.

"Sunday night and thank you. I haven't told papa yet so don't say anything." Delilah said. She could only imagine the I told you so's coming her way.

Miguel laughed. "He'll be asking to name your first son Juan by the end of the conversation."

Delilah laughed too. She knew he was absolutely right.

Emma was sitting in her office reading over her newest clients file. She was almost certain she could win this case in her sleep. She had plenty of cases just like it before and always came out on top. Admittedly, Emma defended someone real sleeze balls sometimes, but she didn't get to pick her clients. They chose her firm and her firm gave her the workload. That's how it worked. She was okay with it most of the time though. There was a knock on her door. She told them to come in. It was Tracy.

"Miss Evans, it's getting pretty late." She informed her. Tracy didn't mind staying as late as Emma needed her to but she worried about her. Plus, Delilah has asked her to not let Emma work herself to death. Tracy thought Delilah was a really caring friend. A little intimidating but caring, nonetheless.

"You should go, Tracy. I'll be fine by myself." Emma assured her. Honestly, Tracy should have left a long time ago. She didn't need to wait around on her, especially after hours.

"You should go home too, Miss Evans." Tracy said.

"I'm right behind you. I swear." Emma crossed her heart.

"Okay. Goodnight."

Emma said goodnight and watched as Tracy left. She looked at the time. She really should have been home by then. She finished reading the last thing and packed up her things. As she was headed out of the door, her phone rang. It was Delilah. Emma was late for dinner and she knew it.

"Hi, babe. I'm late, I know. I'm sorry, but I am on the way." Emma explained as she answered the phone.

"Where are you?" Delilah asked. She was at home, waiting at the table.

"Just leaving the office." Emma fumbled through her bag, searching for her car keys until she heard someone clear their throat. She looked up quickly only to see Cameron leaning against her patrol car. She rolled her eyes and kept walking to her car as if she didn't see her.

"Ugh. Okay. Be safe but hurry. I miss you." Delilah pouted on the other side of the phone. She needed some attention.

Emma smiled. "I miss you too. See you in a bit."

"I love you." Delilah was feeling especially mushy. Her emotions were running wild and she just wanted her love.

"I love you too, Daddy. Are you okay?" Emma asked. She wasn't used to Delilah being such a sap. She liked it though.

"Yes. See you soon."

Their call ended and Emma put her phone away. She heard the footsteps behind her and so she turned around. Cameron was right behind her. "What? What do you want?" Emma asked angrily.

"To stop being ignored. We need to talk." Cameron said. She called Emma so many times she had lost count. None of her calls were answered or retuned. Even her text had gone without a reply.

"We have nothing to talk about, Cameron." The very fact that she was camped outside of her job was creepy enough. How long has she been out here just waiting for her to walk out?

"Look, I'm sorry about that night. It was an accident. I'm not that person. I wouldn't dream of hurting you." Cameron said. She needed Emma to believe her. She sorry.

"But you did." Emma sighed. "Besides, it doesn't matter. I'm dating someone. I have a girlfriend."

Cameron couldn't help but to look angry. Her and Emma were getting along so well before the incident. How could she just be with someone else? "Who?"

"That's none of your business." Emma said. She wasn't ashamed of Delilah. No one in their right mind would be. She was beautiful, intelligent, funny, sweet, and successful. Anyone would be proud to call her theirs and Emma was, but she was mildly afraid of Cameron's reaction. Last time it was just a hard grab. This time it could be something else.

"I don't care. I want to know." Cameron demanded. She wanted to know who could possibly be a better choice than her. She would do anything for Emma.

"Delilah."

Cameron started laughing. "Seriously, Em. Who is it?"

Emma kind of took offense to her laughter. Was it funny because she simply didn't believe her or did Cameron not think Emma deserved someone as good as Delilah? "I am serious. Its Delilah. She was the other woman I was seeing. Now it's official."

Cameron scowled. She was furious actually. "Her?! Why her? Emma, I know you think you know her but you don't. Her and her family are dangerous and bad people."

Emma rolled her eyes. If anyone knew Delilah or her family it was her. She'd known Delilah practically her entire life. "What are you talking about? Delilah wouldn't hurt a fly."

"Her psycho body guard threatened me and Abigail, Emma. I'm not joking. You need to be careful." Cameron pleaded. "Please. They're not who you think they are."

Miguel wouldn't do that. Would he? No. Of course not, Emma thought to herself. And even if he did, which he didn't, there's no way Delilah would have known about it or instructed him to do it. "You'll say anything to get me back, won't you?" Emma asked.

Cameron sighed and shook her head. "You're not going to believe me but you'll see. Just be careful and call me if you need me."

"I won't." Emma said before she got in her car and sped off. She couldn't believe Cameron would just blatantly lie like that.
