《Worth The Risk》Genesis

It had only been about a week since the pair's declaration of love. Since then they've been in their own little serene bubble. Delilah has brought Emma lunch every day at work and they've eaten dinner together every night. They've been giddy like two little kids about each other. Still, they had not gotten around to discuss the probability of starting and maintaining an actual relationship. Emma didn't know how to bring it up. Delilah definitely didn't know where to start. She'd never been in an actual relationship.

It was Sunday night and the two of them were sharing a meal at Emma's house. She was a pretty good cook, which was such a turn on to Delilah. She wouldn't have to be the one to always cook. Past lovers had just automatically assumed that would be her role since it was what she did.

"How is it?" Emma asked. She was nervous. It was her first tine making, and eating, tofu. It actually wasn't half bad. Still not as good as chicken though.

"It's great. Thanks again for cooking, but you don't have to eat tofu." Delilah laughed a little. It was sweet of Emma to try it but it wasn't a necessity.

"No, I know. I was just interested in seeing what it tasted like."

"Mm. Should I start bringing you vegan meals now?" Delilah asked.

"God no." Emma said, laughing. Delilah laughed along.

Their laughter settled into an uneasy quietness. They both knew what conversation they needed to have. Delilah decided she would take the reins on this one. After all, Emma did say "I love you" first. Her turn.

Delilah pushed the food around on her plate and thought about how she should start. So Emma you should be my girlfriend... Gross. No. Hey Emmy do you think we should... No. No. "Em?" Delilah said aloud.

"Hm?" She answered as she sipped from her wine glass. The wine Delilah brought was delicious and paired well with their dinner.

"I was thinking about our conversation last week and I wanted to talk to you about something."

Emma put her fork down and gave Delilah her undivided attention. "Okay. What's up?" Did she regret telling Emma that she loved her? Did she not mean it? Maybe she needed space. Emma was having an internal meltdown.

Delilah took a deep breath. "Since we've come to the conclusion that we both care deeply about each other and that we do, in fact, have romantic feelings for one another, I think that naturally the next step should be to form some type of arrangement. You know, so we're both comfortable and aware of exactly what is happening. Perhaps put some boundaries and expectations in place in an emotional aspect so nobody's feelings are hurt." Delilah felt like she was rambling and not making sense. By the time she was finished talking she was looking at her hands. Emma's giggles made her look up. "What's funny?" She asked Emma. God, she must have made a fool of herself.

"Nothing. You're just cute when you're nervous." Emma said. She was also laughing because she was relieved. "I think most people would call what you're describing, a relationship, Delilah."

Delilah smiled. "Well, yeah. That."

"Are you asking me to be your girlfriend?" Emma asked.

"Yes." Delilah answered. She had never asked anyone out before. This felt odd but exciting. Also, nerve wrecking. What if she said no? Oh, fuck. She can absolutely say no.

"Are you sure?" Emma asked. She wanted to say yes, but she didn't want Delilah to ask because she felt like she had to. Emma had never seen Delilah in a relationship simply because she didn't commit to people. Delilah was a have cake and eat it too kind of person. Emma trusted her with her life, but her heart was another question. If she said yes, would she be knowingly signing herself up for heartbreak?

"I am." Delilah didn't blame Emma for hesitating. Nobody knew her track record better. Agreeing to be with her would be a gamble within itself.

"There's things we'd have to talk about." Emma said, leaning back in her chair.

"Like?" Delilah asked.

"Firstly, restaurant girl. You'd have to stop having sex with her." Emma said. "Honestly, all other women. I'm not into sharing my girlfriends."

Delilah smiled. Just the mention of being Emma's girlfriend made her excited. "Cyn." Delilah said.

"What?" Emma asked.

"Her name is Cyn. We haven't had sex in almost two weeks but of course. Yeah. That's done." Delilah waved her hands in front of her.

"I'm a Domme," Emma paused and laughed, "well no, I guess I'd be a switch now. Anyway, I like being in control sometimes. That means you'd have to be okay with that."

Delilah stabbed a piece of tofu and put it in her mouth. It's not that she hated the last time she had to be submissive. She hated that she hate it. She didn't want to admit it. "Fine." She said dryly.

Emma chuckled. "I need an eager yes." Emma refused to entertain an unsatisfying sex life.

"Yes. I'm okay with that." Delilah said.

"And just.. just be honest with me. If you want to see other people and break up or if I'm doing something that you don't like, tell me. You have to talk to me. D-don't break my heart, Delilah. Please." Emma said from across the table. She was nervous as hell about this but if she was going to take the chance on anyone, she figured Delilah was worth the risk.

"I won't." Delilah said. "I promise."

Emma nodded. "Okay. So ask."

Delilah chuckled. "What? What did we just agree to?"

"Oh no. You have to ask. I need to hear you say it, baby." Emma smirked.

Delilah wiped her mouth and hands on her napkin and approached the other side of the table. If she was going to ask, she might as well do it properly. She pulled Emma up from her seat and brought their bodies close. "Emma Joy Evans," Delilah said as Emma started laughing, "will you be my girlfriend?"

"Yes, loser." Emma said, blushing. Delilah smiled before she kissed her. It was meant to be a sweet and simple kiss, but when she tried to pull away, Emma pulled her back in. "You're mine, now." Emma said.

"I am." Delilah said smiling. "I really am."
