Emily invited me over to her and Naomi's house for a barbecue that afternoon. I wasn't one to turn down a barbecue, so I said yes. I walked inside and saw Naomi with a cup of water. Her face looked drained and she seemed to be slowly deteriorating.

I knew that Emily found out about Naomi's infidelity, but it was mind-boggling to me that she stayed with her, even though Emily was clearly still upset. It didn't make any sense. I sat down outside in between Katie and Effy. Katie was a lot quieter than usual too. Her parents seemed to be down each other's throats, and they had just recently lost their house, which definitely explained it.

"You doing ok, Katie?" I said. She nodded her head as Emily came over to us.

"Does anyone have any more pills?"

"Don't you think you've had enough?" Katie said.

"Don't think, makes life much easier. Naomi, darling? Got any more of your special powder?"

Oh god, I love her but sometimes she needs to shut up.

"Don't, Em," Naomi said, rolling her eyes.

"Where's Cook when you need him?"

I looked over at Naomi, "This happens often?"

"You have no idea. Another lovely day at Mrs. and Mrs. Campbell's," Naomi said, lighting a cigarette.

Thomas came over to us with a burger, "Can I interest any of you in a special cooked to perfection burger?"

"I'd love one. Thanks, Thomas!" I said as he smiled back at me. Effy walked over to Freddie and kissed him. God, poor Katie.

As I ate my burger, I saw Emily making out with a random girl, and right in front of Naomi. She then pushed Naomi into the pool, making her even more upset.

"Ems, stop it!" Katie said.

"Stay out of this!"

"That's enough. What's this all about?" their mom said.

"It's none of your business," Emily said.

"I fucked the dead girl. I fucked Sophia and gave her the drugs and now she's punishing me for it," Naomi cried.

"I knew you'd screw her up," she said. After Emily told her mom to get off her high horse and brought her to tears, she turned to Katie.

" A bit melodramatic. Remind you of anyone?"

With that, Katie slapped her, making her cry.

"Stop it!" James said. Katie screamed and left. Sobbing, Emily went back inside.

"Nomes, I'll talk to her," I said. I went inside and saw Emily drying herself off with a towel while still crying.

"Ems," I said, causing her to turn her head towards me. I extended my arms out, and she sobbed into me, "Look, I know that you're in massive pain right now and that you're experiencing a lot of emotions. But Naomi loves you so much. I know it."

She didn't say anything back. She just continued to cry as I held her. I didn't know what was to become of their relationship, if it was doomed, or if somehow it could be saved.
