I was in the middle of my morning jog when I ran into JJ and Emily.
"Hey, guys! How's it going?" I said.
"Oh, we're going over to Freddie's. Care to join us?" Emily said.
"Sure. What for?"
"I'm going over there to tell him to make up with Cook. Our friendship has fallen apart because of Effy, and I need to help make things right," he said. He was right, sadly. We walked over to his house and knocked on the door. Karen answered.
"Hi, JJ, how are you?" Karen said, ruffling his hair, which he hated. She then looked over to Emily, "Wait a minute. What the fuck are you doing here?"
"I'm sorry. Do I know you?" Emily said, confused.
"Karen, I need to see Freddie. Right now," JJ said. We walked up the stairs to his bedroom and Karen followed behind tentatively. JJ knocked on the door and Freddie said he was busy, which led JJ to say he'd come over another time.
"Oh, for fucks sake!" I said, pushing JJ out of the way and opening the door. What we saw next was, interesting shall we say.
"Now, does everybody know each other?" Karen said as we gawked at the sight of Katie and Freddie in bed together.
I turned to Emily and said, "This is fucked up."
"For Christ's sake, Katie. What are you doing?" Emily said.
"I'm doing the great fucking northern run. What does it look like I'm doing?"
"Why didn't you tell me?" Emily said, still visibly shocked.
"Oh, I'm sorry. Maybe my post application hasn't reached you yet. Now, do you mind? We're in the middle of something," Katie said, causing me to scoff.

"But, this isn't right, you want Eff and-"
"It's a free country, JJ. Hey, maybe Bri or my weirdo sister are up for it," Katie snapped at JJ.
"That's ridiculous. Bri wouldn't want to do that with me, and Emily's gay so-"
I slapped him on the arm, "JJ!"
Emily had never told me that she was gay. She didn't tell anyone, I don't think, but I had my suspicions about it all along. I saw the way she looked at Naomi, and it didn't look platonic.
"That's not true. Is it, Ems? Because you promised me it wasn't true," Katie said.
Emily didn't say anything back. She just sighed and ran out of the house.
Freddie looked at JJ angrily and said, "Shed."
JJ and I left the house, and he waited outside of the shed, "JJ, you know how Katie is with this kind of stuff. Why would you say that?!"
"I don't know! I didn't mean to!" he said, holding his head.
"It's ok. Calm down," I said, feeling bad for yelling at him. I grabbed both his hands and told him to take deep breaths.
"I have to go to talk to Effy. Can you come with me?"
"No! My mom's taking me out for lunch, and besides, you're a big boy. Do it yourself," I said, patting his arm. I started walking home and changed into clothes that weren't sweaty and smelly. Then, my mom took me out for lunch.

# The Gemstone of Ominium 2 - Pain
Her unfazed expression didn’t even waver when the blade of her thin sword pierced one of the men all the way through armor, flesh and bone, a gurgling sound bubbling from his throat. With a kick she mercilessly pushed him back, freeing her blade, and glanced down at his dead body sprawled at her feet, confirming that death had indeed taken him. Stepping over the dead man’s body as if it were a mere pebble on her path, she raised her head just in time to see her second attacker lunge at her and, nimbly turning on her heels, she slit his throat. A spray of hot, sticky blood hit her left cheek and slid down her neck, but she didn’t even blink. The scent of the fresh blood filled her nostrils and her brain like an inebriating drug and she stepped forward once again, lightly turning to one side to avoid being decapitated and quickly returning the favor. One by one the men kept falling as she advanced, victims of her lethal, almost mechanical movements, as if she’d been born with a sword in hand and ready to kill …* This is a direct continuation of Book 1 - Denial. You CANNOT start reading Book 2 without reading Book 1, since the story won't make any sense! Enjoy ^_^*
