《Our Ancient Love》Chapter 23: Our Past

We all decided to have breakfast together. I really enjoyed spending time with my parents because I can't even remember the last time I spent time with them. And it was even better because I didn't have to worry about hiding Ahk around the house anymore. We mostly talked about what happened in our past and all of the memories that we had together when we were in Egypt.

"So what happens now?" my dad asks while putting a forkful of food in his mouth.

"What do you mean," I ask.

"Like what's going to happen to us now."

"Oh uhm I don't know," I say as I look at Ahk confused.

"Well history, besides our early deaths, will start to repeat itself. So during this time me and Sanura would have already been married and expecting a child," Ahk says.

My mom and dad look at each other and give each other confused looks. "Who's Sanura?" they both ask at the same time.

"I am. 'Y/N' isn't my real name. 'Sanura' is."

"No wonder why the name came so easily to my mind when I was coming up with a middle name for you," my mom says.

"Well you both aren't married and you're definitely NOT expecting a child I presume," my dad says eyeing the both of us.

I start coughing uncontrollably. I tried to not be suspicious but that failed.

"If we were then we would tell you," Ahk awkwardly laughs. "But why would we be even expecting one. We didn't do anything. Right, Sanura?"

"Right," I say. Me and Ahk both smile at my parents trying to brush off the topic.

My parents look at each other and shake their heads. They already knew what happened, but they decided to brush it off too.

"Alright you two. Time to go upstairs," my mom says as she stands up to pick up everyone's plates.

"Mom I'm not a child anymore," I say.

"Yes I know but you need to get enough sleep for work tonight. It's already been a crazy morning."

"Alright fine." Me and Ahk both stand up and walk towards the stairs.

As were at the top of the stairs I hear my dad mumble something: "Are those my sweatpants that he's wearing?"

Me and Ahk look at each other with our eyes wide open.

"Who cares if he's wearing your sweatpants, honey. He has no other clothes to wear," my mom says.

We both shrug and go into my room.

"Maybe we should give your dad his sweatpants back," Ahk says as he climbs into bed.

"Well what else are you supposed to wear? It's not like we can go shopping and find you any clothes, especially not with my crazy shift hours," I say.

"Well the museum is closed on Sundays so we can always go shopping then."

"Seriously? Why didn't Dr. McPhee tell me this?"

"It should've been obvious, my love," Ahk chuckles.

"Whatever." I giggle and climb into bed and scoot closer to him so he can wrap his arms around me.

Ahk kisses me on the cheek and rubs his hand up and down my arm. I remember this moment. Well of course I remember it because it's happening right now but I started to remember some years ago when we were in this exact same position.

It was after I had told him that I was pregnant. The breeze that had came into the room felt cool but I didn't notice it because Ahk had his arms wrapped around me and it made me feel warm. He made a promise that day to help me every step of the way through my pregnancy. He was so excited to be a father and I was so excited to be a mother.

Life sometimes doesn't end up the way you expect it to. About a few months later, Kahmunrah had had enough of Ahk and took his anger out on him. He stabbed him with a dagger. I still remember him slowly dying in my arms as he used his last final breath to whisper something: "Take care of our daughter for me." And that was it. I felt numb. I couldn't believe he was gone. I had looked up at Kahmunrah and he just looked at me in anger and walked away. I didn't know what I was doing in the next second because before I knew it I raced up to him and took the dagger out of his hand. He thought I was going to kill him but that wasn't my intention. "Hey what are you-!" he shouted before I stabbed myself in the heart. I remember falling to the ground as he watched. Everything felt weird and fuzzy. I heard people running into the room shouting as everything went dark.

I blink back tears as I had finally came back to reality. That was in the past now and all I have to do now is focus on the future and spending the rest of my life with Ahk.
