《Our Ancient Love》Chapter 17: A Little Bit More Modern

I hold my breath and close my eyes as more things begin to fall in my closet.
"Y/N. What was that?" my mom asks as she walks closer to me.
"Nothing. It was nothing. Just some things falling off of my shelf," I laugh nervously.
"Uhm alright. Well get to it." My mom starts to walk away and I slowly open my closet about to let Ahk back out until she quickly turns back around. I quickly slam my closet door shut.
"My coworker is having a baby shower today so me and your father won't be home by the time you go to work. We'll be leaving sometime around 9:30."
I look over at my clock and see that it isn't even 7 o'clock yet.
I sigh. "Okay."
"And your breakfast is downstairs when you're ready to get it. If you need anything I'll be in my bathroom getting ready."
She leaves and doesn't turn back around this time. She goes into her room and shuts the door halfway. I shut my door just in case she walks back out of her room. I open up my closet door and help Ahk get out of my closet.
"Sorry for making all those noises," he says.
"It's fine. I have a lot of junk in my closet anyways."
"So what do you wanna do?"
"That's a good question."
I look around the room to see if there was anything we could do to make the time go by quickly. Then I look back at Ahk. I look at his clothes.
"Maybe we can pick out a new wardrobe for you," I say as I look through my dresser drawers.
"What's wrong with the clothes that I have on now?"

"You've been wearing them for 3,000 years. Now's a good time for you to wear something more modern."
I scavenge through all of my clothes and find my over-sized Queen t-shirt that I usually wear to bed.
"Alright so now I need to find you some bottoms, but I'll have to sneak into my parents' room to grab one of my dad's sweatpants."
I slowly open my bedroom door. "Hide behind the door until I get back."
I step out of my room as Ahk hides behind the door. I tiptoe over to my parents' room and quietly enter their room. My mom was occupied in the bathroom and my dad was still laying in the bed. I scurry over to my dad's dresser and slowly open up one of his drawers. I take out the first pair of sweatpants I see. As I close the drawer, I hear my mom saying something.
"Honey now might be a good time to start getting ready. We don't want to be late."
"I guess you're right," my dad yawns as he sits up in the bed.
I quietly gasp and hurry up and crawl out of the room. Once I'm a distance away from their room, I sprint into my room and shut the door.
"That was the scariest and riskiest thing I've ever done in my whole life." I say out of breath.
"Second scariest and riskiest thing. You're hiding me, remember?" Ahk says.
"Oh yeah you're right," I laugh. I put the sweatpants on my bed as well as my shirt.
"This is what you want me to wear?" Ahk asks as he holds my shirt up to his chest.
"I really don't feel like sneaking into my parents' room to steal a shirt."

"No no no. I like it. It's just I'm not used to seeing clothes like these." He looks at the shirt in admiration.
"Alright let's get this headpiece off of you." I take off his head piece and it reveals that he has a head full of curly hair.
"Oh my gosh your hair!" I whisper shout as I play with his hair.
He laughs as he begins to take off his clothes. He suddenly stops.
"Sanura do you mind?" he asks nervously.
"Oh. Sorry." I turn away from him and decide to pick up everything that fell in my closet. A lot of my clothes fell off of my shelf. When I pick up everything in my closet, I turn back around and Ahk is shirtless with only the sweatpants on. I admire his bare chest. His abs weren't really bold, but you could tell that he has abs. Then I look at his arms. They were skinny, but with a hint of muscle.
When he looks back at me, he's already completely dressed. He starts looking at me nervously.
"Were you staring at me just now?" he asks.
"Pff. No," I laugh nervously. I wipe the side of my mouth when I realize that I was drooling.
"So, uhm, how do I look?" He does a slow 360 spin so I can examine him.
"You look really cute. Just like every modern teenage boy." I kiss him on the cheek.
For the rest of the time, me and Ahk sit across from each other on my floor and talk about our past. Ahk helps me remember some of our memories, such as our wedding.
Sometime past 9:30, I hear a knock on my door.
"Hide," I whisper shout. Instead of him going into my closet again, he lays on the floor next to my bed. "You better hope that my mom doesn't go around my bed," I whisper as I open the door.
"Here's your breakfast," my mom says as she hands me a plate with a bagel and hash browns. "And me and your father are heading out right now."
"Oh. Ok. Well I'll see you guys when I get off of my shift."
"Alright. And don't misbehave while we're gone. If you mess up anything, make sure that you clean it up. And make sure that you lock the door when you're leaving to go to work."
"Alright alright. I'm not a little girl anymore mom." I laugh.
"I know, I'm just making sure. Well bye sweetie." she kisses the top of my head and hugs me.
She walks away and goes downstairs. I walk to the top of the stairs as I watch them get their belongings to leave.
"Bye," I say as they open the door.
They both wave goodbye and shut the door.
