《Our Ancient Love》Chapter 16: Sneaking Around

Once I pull up to my house, I quickly jump out of the car and look around to make sure that no one was in sight. We're in the clear. I run over to the passenger side of the car and aggressively pull Ahk's arm.
"Ow! What are you doing?!" he shouts.
"Shh!" I hush. "Are you TRYING to be noticed?"
"No," he says as he rubs his arm.
"I'm sorry." I hug him tightly. I soon stop when I look across the street and see my neighbor walking out of his house.
"We gotta go," I say as I grab his hand and start running over to the door. I quickly unlock the door and push him inside. At that moment when I push him into the house, I turn around and see my neighbor waving at me. I wave back before I walk inside and shut the door. I sigh and turn around.
Ahk was in the living room looking around.
"You have a nice house," he says.
"Thanks, but we really should hurry up and go to my room before my parents see you." I run up the stairs to look around to make sure that my parents' door was close. It was. I run back downstairs, grab Ahk's hand, and run into my room. I shut my door and as I'm walking I trip over something and fall. I look over my shoulder and see that it was Sandy again.
"Sandy!" I whisper shout. She just sits there.
"Aww this is your dog?" Ahk asks as he sits on my bed. Without even thinking, Sandy stands up on her hind legs so Ahk can pet her.
"That's weird. She's always hesitant around strangers."
"Well that's because I'm no stranger. She was a cat in her past life."

"Of course she was." I sit next to him and lock my arm with his. We had maybe about a good 20 minutes when I hear a door open. I immediately jump off of my bed.
"Ok as much as I hate to say this, you have to hide in my closet," I say as I open my closet door.
"When your parents start to remember their past, you won't have to hide me anymore," he says as he happily walks into my closet.
As I'm shutting the door, my mom opens the door.
"Hey Y/N, I didn't hear you walk in," she says as she yawns.
"Oh. Sorry. I just—" I pause as I hear things in my closet falling over.
"What was that?" she asks as she walks closer to me.
Crap. I'm screwed.
