"Did you get anything from talking to those people?" Antonio asked. "No, but did you look up those people like I asked?"
"Yes! And in fact, they were married and have one child who is being looked after by the grandparents now. The wife just got out of work and the husband was on his way to pick her up when the incident occurred," Antonio spoke. "How about forensics?" I asked looking at Gilbert. "I did what you asked.... I couldn't trace any DNA from the samples I got, however, the shape of the jaw is exactly the type you would see on a human. However, there are fangs.... which does not make sense for the anatomy of a human. But it was the only mammal to fit the description."
Antonio and I were taken aback by the information that Gilbert showed us. "What if it was actually a human....it's the only thing that physically makes sense from the marks," Gilbert said worriedly. "You got to be kidding me? So we are going to go with vampires? That's hilarious," Antonio laughed. "I guess it is a silly idea, but I'm telling you, these are human teeth. It doesn't explain where all their blood went, but this is what I got. Science doesn't lie." Gilbert said, scared.
"Okay okay, say these are human teeth..... we need to figure out how the blood is being drained," I said seriously. "Maybe it is human but they are using some sort of tube to extract the blood? That is why there weren't any DNA traces?" Antonio mentioned. My eyes widened, and I smiled. "As if someone was pretending! Like that is their signature mark. Like how serial killers leave items or marks on their victims, this could be the same. We could be dealing with a serial killer," I spoke.

"Honestly, this actually makes sense.... I mean, it is the closest thing to making sense. I will analyze the bodies some more and see if I come back with anything else," Gilbert said, taking his files with him. "I'll be looking into victims' backgrounds in the meantime to see if any of the victims have anything in common," Antonio spoke. "Alright, I am going to take a look back at the crime scene and try and find anything else. We can all meet back up together tomorrow." I spoke. He nodded at me, and we all went our separate ways in the meantime.

Once I arrived back at the crime scene, I decided to go into the wooded area to look for any traces of anything. It was nearly dark, so I knew I had to be quick so I wouldn't run into any trouble. I walked toward the area and looked for prints on the ground. "Damn, I thought I would at least find something," I said out loud. I walked a little farther out and still nothing, so I decided to leave.
There was a sudden flash, and it scared me half to death. I turned around and soon saw that one guy I had interviewed. He had a Polaroid picture in his hand and shook it around. "Jesus, you scared me," I breathed out nervously. What on earth was he doing here? I made my way to the parking lot once again, with that guy following behind me. "What are you doing out here?" He asked.
"Ugh, you journalists are so nosey; I am here on a case," I said annoyed. "What are you doing out here?" I added. "Well, I saw you as I was on my way back from getting some food, and I wanted to say hi. Is that a crime?" He laughed. "No, but you must be careful outside this late at night."

"Well you are all alone, so that is kinda hypocritical of you," he chuckled. I breathed out annoyed and started to walk toward my car. "If you need me for any reason, don't be afraid to call me," I said. I was trying to leave. "Ahhhh, your name was Arthur, right? That's a very attractive name," he smiled. I felt my face get hot as I tried to walk faster, but he kept marching at my speed.
"Is there something I can help you with?" I asked, annoyed. "No, I am just very fascinated with you.... I think we should be friends," He said with a smile. We were now by my car, and he was extremely close. "Why?" I asked, confused. This guy just shows up out of nowhere and scares me, and now he wants to be friends? I do not have friends, and they would just get in the way. "I don't know; I like you. You give me good vibes, I guess."
"Vibes?"
"Yeah..... you seem like you would be an interesting person."
"Oh really?"
"Yes."
"Well, I'm not interested."
"What?! Why?"
"Because you are annoying," I spat. He pretended to be hurt but soon cheered up fast. I am sure he is just doing this to get a good news story. "That hurts," he laughed.
"Do you need a ride back home? I do not mind taking you," I said. I walked over to my car and unlocked the door for him to come into. "Alright then, if you insist," he said. He sat in my car, looking a bit nervous. "I think I remember where you live so you don't need to give me directions," I spoke.
He started to look super nervous in the passenger seat. "Are you alright?" I asked, confused. He was squeezing his hand tightly, and it looked painful. "It smells excellent in here. Did you spray anything?" He asked. Why was he sweating so much? This was weird. "No, I guess it just smells like me. I don't know," I laughed, confused. Maybe he is making fun of me?
"Please....stop the car!" He shouted. "What? Are you crazy? Let me just take you home," I said, confused. "No, you need to stop the car right now!" He yelled more. He soon tried to take the wheel, and I finally hit the brakes after a lot of struggling. Francis quickly got out of the car and circled to my window. "Well, here is my number if you need anything," I said, confused. I handed him my business card, and he took it nervously. "Thank you for the ride, but can you please leave now?" He asked. I nodded, confused, and started to drive off.

Author's Note. This is book 7! Please feel free to hop on and enjoy! If you find you like my writing style, I hope you'll check out the first 6 books, all available to read on Kindle Unlimited, link below!) Alex was dying, and all the millions his father had left him meant nothing. The life he had been so eager to embrace, to do the memory of his father proud, would soon come to an end. Cancer. That ugly, terrible word. He had tried to be strong for his mother, even when the treatments left him violently ill, his body wracked with pain, his friends and even his girlfriend leaving him almost as fast as his once impressive physique wasted to nothing under the ravages of his illness. And just when he thought all hope was dead, a couple discrete referals placed by high-powered friends of his family got him an exclusive spot at the most sophisticated cryonic facility in the world. He didn't know if there was such a thing as an afterlife, but part of the package included uploading a copy of his cortex into a digital universe filled countless worlds to explore, where he could embrace whatever class or profession he could dream of. All of which sounded hell of a lot better than the miserable death waiting for him in the real world. In the end, he signed the paperwork, putting his pathetic flickering life in the hands of potential quacks and charlatans. After all, with death just days away, what did he have to lose? Even if he could never be successfully revived, he could at least adventure his heart out. (Authors Note: Books 1-6 are now live on Amazon and here is a link if you wanted to check it out! And I will continue to post chapters to Book 6 here first, until that tale is told! I hope you enjoy! And if you wanted to help support my work by checking out book 1 on Amazon, I would be extremely grateful!)
